ok as parasocial as i am blah blah blah you guys know i'm usually the first and loudest voice to call dream out when i think he's really fucked up 😭 so i don't want you guys to think i'm ignoring the situation or anything i literally just logged back onto tumblr after a few hours. i apologise if this isn't particularly structured i'm basically just getting my thoughts down as they spring to mind.

regarding the thread itself: i genuinely do not know. because there are undeniably true aspects (the twt dms) and yet other aspects i personally don't believe are real (the girl saying he supposedly face revealed to her and the phone number she has for him somehow connecting to his tiktok despite him changing it in recent years). i 100% believe dream thought the girl was 18. the "18 nvm" text clearly indicates he made an assumption about her age that was never corrected -- and more than that, it would be fucking stupid to knowingly text someone underage when you have a growing platform and there's a chance that it could spread <- a very, very cynical view of things only because i don't want to sound like i'm acting that i know dream would personally not do this. there's conflicting info on whether she was a fan or not at the time so again, i don't want to speak on something that can't be proven in terms of that dynamic and the fact that the girl and her bf are switching up the stories does make me wary about believing them. the bf also being a dream sex mod freak and appearing to be pushing the narrative almost more than the girl herself is very weird too. ultimately -- dream texting the girl is icky but for gods sake it isn't grooming and it isn't fucking pedophilia 😭 like yes it's cringe and yes it's irresponsible but there wasn't any coercion/genuinely immoral behaviour as far as i can see. this wasn't an actual relationship by any means....it was a short-term flirty conversation over the internet. it might put a bad taste in my mouth but i just don't find it "cancellation" worthy. obviously ppl on twt are gonna run with this and completely blow it up to extremes (as i'm writing this #dreamisafreak is trending on twitter) and that exact scale of overreaction is exactly why i think dream responded the way he did.

which brings us to the response in question. as someone who has been here for every twitlonger, every thread, every "pr response" - i'm genuinely quite frustrated rn because i think he absolutely could have done better. dream has a tendency to be overly impulsive and i think he definitely reacted too quickly with his thread. to dismiss everything as fake is just... idiotic. and also unsurprising. yes its unfair that dream is in a position where he has fake slander spread about him on a near daily basis which i understand would automatically make him more defensive but he has to comprehend in a situation like this where there is actual hard evidence he has to give us something better than "its all bullshit" bc some of it ISN'T 😭 i don't know if he saw the original thread or not but regardless i think this decision was not his smartest because ppl are going to demand something more concrete and then he'll either have to go back on his word or double down and both options there aren't great. dream is usually hyperaware of fan response to situations like this so i do expect him to elaborate at some point in the next few days.

i think a lot of fans are being overly defensive of dream and others are being overly critical because they saw the word "grooming" and ran with it -- it's okay to not know how you feel about this and it's okay to be upset with him and it's okay to not find it that deep. the more i parse through it all the more i see it as a situation that didn't strongly affect either party and was moreso just 2020 dream behaving stupidly which is frankly, old news. that being said -- his response was dumb and can very easily be turned on him as a way to accuse him of denying real evidence even if he meant to just deny the allegations against him so i do hope he follows up soon.
