olive, peacock blue
Color Asks!
Olive: is your muse prone to feeling envious of others? if yes, what is it that they typically feel envious over?
God, yes. Bea is an incredibly jealous person. I’m sure she’s fucked with other people for no reason other than jealous spite.
The main thing she get jealous of is other people’s relationships and happiness. That they’re stable and sure of themselves. That fulfilling relationships seem to come so effortlessly to others, and she’s always flailing around and burning bridges. She’s often lonely, but she can’t seem to stop screwing up her relationships. People with loving family and friends never seem to realize how good they have it, either, and this obliviousness further infuriates her.
Sadly, Bea is the sort of person who wants the benefits of relationships but is basically incapable of holding up her end of the deal.
Weirdly enough, she doesn’t tend to get jealous over material possessions. She’s lived in poverty and now she’s rich. She’d rather have a nice cushion of money waiting for her and keeping her safe than any particular thing.
Peacock blue: is your muse honest? what sorts of lies do they tell, if not?
Not even remotely honest. She lies all the time. And nearly all these lies are lies of convenience. She’ll tell people what they want to hear to get them to shut up. She’ll lie that she’s fine because she talking through issues is just too hard. The issue isn’t the truth, it’s getting what she wants. And of course, she has zero regrets unless she gets caught, in which case she only wishes she had told a better lie.
She doesn’t tell many white lies, unsurprisingly. Other people’s feeling can go to hell, and besides, they were literally asking for it, so time to unload the brutal honesty.

Color asks!
Black: does your muse have a 'bucket list?' list some things your muse wants to accomplish before they die.
Bea has never made a bucket list. Honestly, she was just geared towards survival and stability for her entire pre-merc life, and when you’re raised like that, making a list of fun things you want to do before you die sort of never occurs to you.
As for her enjoyable life’s accomplishment’s, in retirement, she buys an expensive apartment in Copenhagen and lives there part-time. She is eligible Danish citizenship because both her parents are citizens, so she got that officially taken care of, too. She’s proud that she’s managed to re-connect with her heritage in this way.
Also in retirement, she goes back to selling her embroidery and doing the rare freelance arson job. It’s mighty quiet and way less exciting than she’d like, but it’s something to do, and her weight and failing health prevented her from more vigorous adventures.
Cadmium yellow: what subjects or topics does your muse avoid, because they bring up harmful / painful memories?
Oh, dear, there’s a laundry list. Hanne’s death. The 15 years of close friendship Bea and Hanne had before her death-- most of the team doesn’t know that Hanne ever existed. That she sometimes worries that her relationship with Rory means she’d replaced Hanne or somehow dishonoring Hanne’s memory. How she resents that her sister is depressed and frail. That she got kicked out of the house after she told her depressed sister to kill herself. How things are still incredibly tense with her stepmother and that she thinks that their relationship will never recover. The reasons why she hunted Clarence down and killed him. How she’s scared of Helen and hates being her pet. How she often feels incredibly alienated from other women, and that years on an all-male base is causing her to forget what it means to be female. That she’s a psychopath and how the team would react if the word somehow got out.
Bea is terrible at emotions and her only method of coping either 1) destruction and violent rage and 2) pretending the bad things never happened.
Honey: when your muse loves someone (whether it be romantic, platonic, or familial love), how do they show it?
Love is mighty hard for someone who had a neurological empathy deficit, but Bea understands the behavioral aspects of love and tries her best.
You know Bea loves you when she’ll inconvenience herself for the sake of another. The giving part of love is difficult for her; she automatically resents having to be there for another person, no matter how much that person deserves it.
Also apologizing. She’s only willing to apologize (and therefore put in the work to salvage the relationship) if the relationship is very very dear (read: beneficial to her.)

Bea listened to Jay worrying about his father and sighed. How old was the kid now? Sure, he’d gone through college at a ridiculous, accelerated pace, but after five PhDs, he had to be pushing thirty. How could he be that old and still be afraid of his father? Watching the boy almost made Bea grateful that she’d been kicked out of her parents’ house at sixteen.
“Fine. I’ll have you do the garden shed. I’ve already bought the paint and primer, so don’t worry about that.”
With that, Bernie crept into the room with the coffee service. Pale, wide-eyed, and somehow frail and spindly-looking despite her plumpness. She flicked her eyes to Jay, then set the heavy array on the coffee table. The service had belonged to Bernie and Bea’s long-dead bio-mother, who had dragged it all the way from Denmark. Bea wasn’t allowed to touch it.
Bernie’s eyes didn’t linger on Jay, of course. She knew better than that. Sure, Bernie seemed even frailer and jumpier these days, but Bea attributed that to the fact that Bernie’s daughters were grown and out the house my now. Small wonder that Bernie would be lost without them.
Bea poured coffee for herself and Jay, then tried to catch Bernie’s eye. If Bernie was at ease around Jay, everything would be so much simpler. Bring Jay in, get the shed painted, get him out, and they could go back to pretending that they were a normal, happy family.
Bernie finally looked at Bea, and Bea smiled as best she could. A half-paralyzed wreck of a smile wasn’t much, but surely it was better than nothing.
“Tak skal du have,” said Bea. Bernie spoke English perfectly, of course, but the Danish would emphasize that she ought to hurry along and not talk to Jay. “Du behøvede virkelig ikke at lave kaffe til os. Jeg sætter pris på det.”

“Now for the last time- I only get a couple weeks free outta the school year. PhD number six ain’t earning itself and if the old man catches me out here I may as well be dead.”
“One type of exterior paint. One shed and/or outbuilding. 20 bucks. Final offer.”

So I started a new blog that has nothing to do with TFC
Some of my closest buddies know that I have been living in communes on and off for a couple years now. And that’s what my new blog is about. Commune life. Surprisingly little has been written about day-to-day details of it, which surprises me, since it’s often very different from life outside a commune.
I’m hoping to share pictures and anecdotes and basic info for anyone who’s interested in joining the movement. It’s just something to try; I’m not terribly committed to this new blog yet.
The blog is a-nomadic-commundard.tumblr.com for those interested. Swing by and say hi.

“Lord almighty, you’re dramatic today. Fine. I’ll get my own fridge, since you insist. But keep in mind, squishy one, that if I have my own fridge, that means you don’t get any more of my pie. Or anything else I cook.”
inappropriate-drill-usage‌:
“Since you’ve decided you’re in charge of fridge privileges, o mighty one, I need to ask. Do my revoked privileges apply to our current fridge – well, what’s left of the fridge– or does is the ban gonna role over onto the new fridge once we get it?”
“You’re getting your own fridge, Bea. For the good of everybody tryin’ not to die by noxious fumes or food poisoning. We got enough problems with the critters to deal with… Bea, half these suckers don’t even have labels-”
