04/29 UPDATE:

HOLY SHIT WE MET OUR FUNDRAISER GOAL!!! This feels so surreal to say! I don't think I'll ever be able to say enough thank you's to everyone who donated for my kitten's femur reconstruction surgery, we managed to raise enough through GFM and Ca$happ to cover a huge majority of the bill (that's about $3k!) and my partner and I just are in awe over how fast everyone pulled through for us to help our baby. I never in a million years would have ever imagined that we would have such success with an emergency call for mutual aid like this, stretching far out into the online void. But it did!

Pickle had his femur repair surgery on April 24th last week and it was a success! He has 6 screws and a metal plate around his right femur, along with 14 staples in his leg, and his recovery has been smooth sailing with 24/7 'round the clock care from mom. (at the cost of her sleep schedule and eating habits oops hehe-) But It's almost been a week, and he's acting like his normal self again and already gently walking on the leg! He still has a long way to go, but he's doing so good already.

Pickle has his follow up appointment with the vet to remove the staples from his leg in just 2 weeks from now. After that, he'll start his post-surgery physical therapy in a confined room. I know he's eager to graduate from the kennel!

Sunday night, my 6 month old kitten, pickle, had a really bad fall down a hardwood staircase after getting startled, and upon impact with the first floor, his little femur took the entire force of the impact and it snapped clean in half. My heart dropped to my stomach when I heard him thump hard against the ground and he began to cry, we immediately dropped everything and rushed him to the emergency vet nearby.

Turns out, the injury was worst than we thought. He needs orthopedic surgery to fit his femur with a metal plate. This will help him recover faster with the best successful outcome for his quality of life, but this is going to cost a staggering $4,000 dollars. He hasn't even celebrated his 1st birthday yet, he's still just a baby and this terrible accident happened. Pickle is truly my best friend, he has been my little beacon of light through it all, he is the one who sits with me while I write long chapters for my novels, and I will do absolutely anything for him.

My heart is fucking shattered seeing my normally happy and high-energy baby have such a traumatic injury like this. I know this is hard on his mental health, too. Please, if you can, help us help pickle. If anyone is willing to donate to our GoFundMe to help us alleviate the burden of surgery costs while I'm literally still desperately job hunting, it would help me and my partner more than you can imagine. Chell, whose mission is to protect Aperture technology from getting in the hands of the Combine, must also act as GLaDOS's protector and keep her safe. Small Incendiary Update:

I know I've been radio silent for a couple weeks, lots of things have been happening in my personal life that I've been battling with - those things being job hunting, interviews, and surviving. I didn't get the job I was really hoping for after two interviews that took over a month's time for that particular position, and even though it was really devastating news to get, I'm not giving up!

With that being said, since I didn't get that job I was counting on, there won't be a chapter update for Incendiary for some time. I've been on a writing dry-spell after weeks of bad news and struggling with re-employment, and trying to cope has put a massive toll on my creative flow and muse at the moment. While the next chapter is about 50% done, it's still nowhere near complete or polished to how I envisioned it to have it uploaded by this upcoming Monday. I've been making small edits every other day, but nowhere near the level of several-hour long writing sessions I've been doing last month. My full time job right now IS applying for jobs, and it's taken a really hard toll on my mental and emotional health that's been noticeably affecting my writing, and I realize I need to take a break. So in the meantime, I'm going to be stepping back from writing for a short while until I can get another big girl job again. :')

I hate going on hiatuses, but the support I've been getting on this story has been astronomical and there is without a doubt a promise from me to all of you that I'll absolutely be coming back to finish this story no matter what. Tysm all of you for sticking with me and understanding. <3

Small Incendiary Update:

Holy shit y’all when I tell you I have been up to some WRITING.

So two things: Chapter 11 is in active progress right now, and the beginning of the chapter will be pretty graphic. Y’all know I don’t spare details, you know I adore descriptive scenes. I especially adore writing severe angst and making my characters suffer, can you tell? If any of you are squeamish to descriptive scenes of (basically) straight up murder, I did make a safe point in the chapter to skip to for ease of reading.

But we do find out some more things about Pyro, more specifically, the mystery we’ve been wondering for ages — how the HELL did they escape the Bureau? It didn’t happen easily, I’ll tell you that.

There’s a lot to unpack in this chapter. Even MORE Pyro lore with a lot of angst surrounding it, but most importantly, more texas toast bonding. :)

We’re at 5k words on this chapter so far woohoo!! If I can keep on schedule, March 31st is definitely going to be the next update date, but if I can’t make it happen because of a job/life related event I’ll certainly make a post about the delay and a certain posting date following that. Fingers crossed I can get this finished and edited by the end of the month!

Just wanna drip by and say Incendiary has made itself a permanent resident in my brain.

Your writing is absolutely amazing, every scene got me gripping my seat in excitement. Seeing someone write a Pyro-focused long fic, let alone texas toast is so so so rare, I think I've only read 3 (including incendiary) that I've liked so far.

I love this little fire guy with all my heart, and I absolutely adore how you didn't make him too much like a child like how many mischaracterize him. There's the childlike wonder in him but he is capable when push comes to shove and I like that a lot! Every single characterizations in this fic is wonderful, I would love to give Engie a little kiss on his bald head.. he's so adorable.

I'm probably rambling but I just love this fic so much. I'm dealing with semester's midterms, stressed as all hell and this fic has been keeping me going. This is the most grandest, heartfelt comment I think I've ever received in my entire writing career and my heart is GUSHING rn!!!! I was literally out running errands when I saw this and I couldn't stop thinking about it -

When I joined the TF2 fandom in like... oh god, 2014 I think, I was really shocked to see throughout the years that there weren't many Pyro-centered stories out there, which blew my mind. Like how could there not be a deluge of fanfic for Pyro, who is this extremely mysterious, multi-faceted character with so much room for interpretation?! When I first watched Meet the Pyro, I KNEW I had to write a novel about Pyro. Who they are, where they came from, and what happened to them before the events of the gravel war. Massively inspired, of course. But still nonetheless, an origin story that could very well be canon if squinted at, hehe.

This rings true for texas toast content, too!! There isn't a whole lot of it out there and it makes me so sad - I love their dynamic so much! When Incendiary is finished, I do plan on writing some more texas toast oneshots on my AO3 to fill that void. <3 One of the plans is to write a short story about their relationship during the gravel wars as well, that takes place after the events of Incendiary. (plus, Incendiary has only just started to crack the surface tension of the slow burn, and it's only a matter of 1-2 chapters away from when the texas toast really starts showing through so there is that to look forward too as well. (｡˃ ᵕ ˂ ))

also I literally hollered when I read your comment about Pyro's characterization in this story especially, because THAT is THE ONE THING I have been working so incredibly hard towards holy shit - when I tell you the amount of stories I've read that writes them off as this danger-child that needs supervision - which don't get me wrong is not an entirely bad thing!! they do have this massive childlike side to them, but there is also so much more to them than how the fandom perceives them, not taking into much consideration how they typically canonically act in the comics/in-game, and taking into LARGE consideration Meet the Pyro. I was reeling when I realized that a lot of people seemed to completely forget about that interview. I could go on a whole rant about this sdfghjkl but yes, Pyro is definitely more than capable when push comes to shove! they are in a war, after all ;)

#also little fun fact about this story #It never actually started off as the novel I intended to write about pyro GASP #It was meant to be a bunch of texas toast oneshots #one in particular was going to be about Pyro working alongside engineer in his workshop #and how they created their own flamethrower that they canonically use in-game #but when I started expanding the plot around that #well that quickly spiraled out of control lol #and just very briefly on the topic of characterizations I will say #roswell is by far my favorite villain I've written #I took a lot of inspiration from strickland from the movie 'the shape of water' #that guy has got INTIMIDATION tactic on lock #chapter 12 will delve more in depth about director Roswell as a person and his goals and intentions and reasonings and all of that #and so you'll see why he does the things he does soon enough :) #also tysm again for dropping this comment I will literally gush over this for WEEKS

Small Incendiary Update:

T-minus 24 hours until Chapter 10 of Incendiary drops!

I've made some dialogue edits and added additional scenes in Chapter 10 that makes this chapter bump up to 9.4k words from it's previous 8.4k, oops sorry not sorry. :) But that definitely makes this chapter tie almost neck to neck with the longest chapter in Incendiary so far, that title taken by Chapter 3 at a whopping 9.5k words!

Let this make up for the fact that I may not be releasing Chapter 11 for some time, since it's still very much in the rough draft phase of writing and I'm still writing the beginning part of it. By some time, that I'm not really sure of. It entirely depends on how soon I manage to get a new job, or not. It may be a month, it may be a few weeks. But as of right now, I'm actively writing Chapter 11 during my downtime every day!

If I have a feeling that it might take a while to release, I may drop a teaser here on tumblr for you guys to read as an early sneak peak so you aren't left completely high and dry, cause I know how that feels being a reader too. And I love all of y'all. <3 Thanks for reading this update!

Chapter 10 is complete!! Checked in at 8.4k words in this one, and next chapter projected to be much more by the end of it. So much to unpack in this one - MAJOR lore-dropping ahead and might actually be my longest chapter of this story yet??! (so far!) Welcoming a new face and more importantly, these fucked up guys finally find a place of solace to rest and lay their heads at night. God knows Dell will need it the most :’)

Incendiary has exactly 68,000 words on the DOT after Chapter 9’s update !! Also can I just gush over the fact that I’m so close to hitting 200 Kudos and 3,000 hits — that’s WAY more than I’ve ever had on any story I’ve written ever. 🥹

The support from you all has just been incredible. I never would’ve imagined this story would gain so much traction when I started brainstorming it in 2018. I’m so grateful for all of you here, OG’s and newcomers!

I cannot emphasize enough how thrilled I get when I get an A03 comment email — my heart literally skips a beat every time without fail. I might not be able to reply to them right away, but I absolutely 100% read all of your comments as they come and it brightens the hell out of my day I’m SO serious.
