also not to keep the convo going, but what's wild to me is people saying she's not only appropriating but also romanticizing, as if she has said anything on this record to indicate anything but that everything was awful and literally almost killed her.

TRULY one of my major takeaways from this record is that taylor found this entire thing to be one of the most foreign, horrifying experiences of her life and she would move heaven and earth to try to ensure she doesn't experience something like it again.

why do we think guilty as sin? wasn't earlier in the tracklist narratively?

because it’s part of the story of the delulu! she’s imagining their future! getting off on how great it’s going to be! and then she realizes that it isn’t. there’s very very little on here that depicts what actually happened during the few weeks they were together - the title track is the closest it comes. it’s all either about her imagined version of it or the ensuing fallout. which is a brilliant use of the unreliable narrator thing and pretty much speaks to the contrast between the imagination and the reality in a much more interesting way artistically.

I keep coming back to how much Taylor did not need to release this record and how much courage it shows that she did. These lyrics touch on it:
