Chapter six
Notes: yeonjuns attention is stolen by someone other than yn so she has to reach out to other people, long story telling sequence, reader overthinking and being used to great feedback
Wilhelm had given the assignment of partnering up with someone and creating a story for children. However, there had to be a meaning to it. A moral.
Heeseung had looked over at you when Wilhelm mentioned a partner, but you shook your head. You were going to go partner up with the shy boy. Yeonjun.
Once he’d let everyone get up, many people flocked over to you, Heeseung or Sakura, because you were royalty. You were able to sneak away, once you’d directed them to the prince and princess.
However, when you looked up Yeonjun was talking to someone else. He had light pink hair, and seemed very tall, even from where you stood. Yeonjun was talking, animatedly, to the tall boy. You sighed, frustrated.
You’d lost your opportunity.
“Hello?” Lifting up your head, you smiled at the girl in front of you. Arin Lockes. She sat next to you. “You alright?”
“Yes,” you looked around. People seemed to have paired off by now. You needed to find someone quickly. “Have you found a partner?”
Arin shook her head. “Want to be mine?”
“I was just about to ask you that,” you agreed. “Do you have any ideas?”
“Well… hear me out.”
Tumblr media
“Please, share your tale, girls,” Wilhelm said, clearing his throat. “Whenever you’re ready.”
You and Arin made eye contact, grinning at each other before you looked up and began.
Once upon a time, there was a naughty young girl with bright, golden hair. She constantly defied her mother, who had eventually gotten sick of scolding such a troublesome child all the time. Eventually, the mother had stopped paying much attention to this girl with golden hair.
To get her attention once again, the girl with golden hair ran away. She ran far, far away into the forest near her home. The forest that her mother told her to never go far in. She’d gotten tired from the running, and decided to stop. The forest was empty, besides a singular home that was surrounded by smaller trees. She had almost missed it, but the wonderful smell of porridge helped her find this home.
She went inside, indifferent about proper manners, and didn’t even bother to knock. She was lucky that no one was home. The first thing she saw was the living room. Tired, and wanting to take a seat, the girl with golden hair went to sit in the largest wooden chair.
“This chair is too hard!” She exclaimed. Moving over to the next chair, smaller than the first one, she took a seat.
“This chair is too soft!” She exclaimed again. Getting up, she moved to the final, smallest of all the three chairs.
She sat in the rocking chair, and sighed happily. “This chair is just right!”
However, she got a bit too excited. Rocking with too much aggression caused the chair to fall back. The girl with golden hair jumped out of the chair in time, but the rocking chair had broken into pieces. Kicking it to the side, she went ahead to the kitchen, following the smell of porridge.
She took the spoon in the biggest bowl of porridge and put it in her mouth, only to spit it back out. “That bowl of porridge is too hot!” She complained, sticking her tongue out and spitting in the bowl.
She moved onto the second bowl, taking the spoon inside and taking a spoonful of the porridge. She swallowed it this time but stuck her tongue out in disgust. “This bowl of porridge is too cold!”
Throwing the spoon away, she moved over to the final bowl, the smallest of the three. Taking a spoonful, she stood up straighter. “This bowl of porridge is just right!” She said, before taking another spoonful. And another, until she licked the bowl clean.
After eating so much porridge, the girl with golden hair had gotten tired. Making her way upstairs, she found the bedroom with three beds. She tried getting up on the first bed, but couldn’t. “This bed is too high!”
Moving on to the next one, she fell back on the bed, but yelped when she felt as if she would fall on the ground. “This bed is too low!”
The final bed, the smallest of the three, was at a perfect height. She got into the bed. It was wonderful and cozy. Quickly, the girl with golden hair fell asleep.
Not long after, the owners of the house came in. They were a family of three bears. The father was the first to notice that something in the home was wrong. He looked over at his chair. “Someone has sat in my chair!”
“Someone has sat in my chair as well!” The mother bear pointed out.
The baby bear cried. “Someone had sat in and broke my chair!”
Enraged, the father and mother bear went to look at the rest of their house, and the baby bear followed behind them.
“Someone has eaten my porridge!” The father shouted, more enraged.
“Someone has eaten my porridge as well!”
“Someone has eaten and finished my porridge!” The baby bear cried.
The family of bears went upstairs, and into their room upstairs, to check what else had gone wrong. The father bear sighed in relief. “No one has touched my bed.”
The mother bear huffed. “Well, someone has touched my bed!”
The baby bears voice quivered. “Well… someone is in my bed.”
The father and mother bear rushed over to the baby bears bed and roared loudly. The girl with golden hair woke up, with three large bears over her head. Immediately she screamed, which agitated the bears further.
The father and mother bear roared, and jumped on the baby bears bed. The girl with golden hair jumped away, and backed up into the corner.
“We will not let you get away with this!” The mother bear roared.
The girl with golden hair was done for. She was in a corner, shaking as three bears with large pointy teeth beared their mouths to gulp her down. But then she heard someone calling for her. Calling out her name.
“Goldilocks!”
And she followed her instincts.
Goldilocks jumped out of the window.
Her mother had caught her, and the two had ran back home together. Once inside her home, Goldilocks held her mother tight, and cried. “I am sorry! I will be a good girl from now on! I’ll be just right for you!”
After that, Goldilocks and her mother lived happily ever after.
The class clapped once Arin had completed the story.
“Class, what was the moral of the story? Heeseung?”
“Don’t defy your parents?”
“Sakura?”
“Have manners?”
“Y/N? What did you think when you created the story with Arin?”
“If you don’t listen to your parents, bears will eat you. That should scare kids enough to be behave.”
“Good. You two may take your seats.”
Huh? Good? Not very good? No excellent? What was just… good?
“That’s good right?” Arin whispered to you. “He said it was good.”
“Yeah,” you agreed, apprehensively. “How do you think we did?”
“I think we did it just right!” She grinned, joking.

Chapter five
Notes: sibling stuff, sorta plot moving chapter again, slight yn asshole moment, Sunghoon isn’t a warning for once
“What took you so long?” Jake called out to you as you finally came through the large library doors. The library was the biggest room in the school, but it was usually packed, with students and shelves of books, so you never really noticed how enormous it was until it was pretty much empty.
“We’ve all been here for half an hour,” Sunghoon complained, looking up from the shelf of books he was skimming through.
“My chambermate asked for some book recommendations,” you answered. “I lost track of time.”
“Well get on track, cause you still need to prepare to teach whatever you didn’t prepare for yesterday,” Jay reprimanded you.
“It was Princessology and Kingdom Management, yeah?” Heeseung asked while reading through some books he’d gotten out. “I found some books that looked good and put them on that table over there.”
You thanked him, going over to look through the books. “I still have some work from Jacob too,” you sighed. “Why did he have to pile us with work on the second day?”
“Because he’s Jacob,” Jake and Jay said in unison.
You grumbled while taking out parchment, and began writing out your lesson plan for the week. The classes you had been assigned were Princessology and Kingdom Management, Magicology, and History of the Kingdoms. You’d made sure to get the latter two classes sorted out the day before because you’d known Jacob would pile on some homework to teach you a lesson on how you should not procrastinate.
“Hey Y/N, can I see some of the Kingdom Management books you have?” Jake asked, his voice hushed as your brothers were focused on their own work. “I have to teach Good Kingdom Management.”
“Yeah, here, these ones are related more to princely and kingly Kingdom Management.”
“Well… is there a difference?” Jake asked, head tilting. “Between the types of Kingdom Management?”
“Princesses have different roles, I guess,” you sighed, leaning back in your seat. “I never realized just how much work princesses have, though.”
“Well, I guess it’s good your learning it now. You're going to deal with all of this yourself, you know? Sure, mom was a princess but not as high ranking as you are.”
“Yes, I know, very well. Jacob made sure I realized it as well. We should probably work together a little on that part of our courses, right? We shouldn’t contradict each other too much or it’ll be confusing.”
“Mhm, that’s true,” Jake hummed. “Actually, a lot of these courses sort of overlap.” Looking down the tables, Jake called out to his brothers. “Hey, you three!” They looked up over at where you and Jake sat. “Do you wanna make sure our course outlines sorta match up with each other for the similar courses? To confuse the students less?”
Heeseung nodded his head, getting up. “That’s a good idea.”
Jay and Sunghoon followed. Shortly after, you all were rambling, showing off your course outlines and what you were planning for the week. You were even talking about the long term things you’d be teaching.
“There’s so many magic courses,” Sunghoon commented. “Which ones the main one? Magicology?”
“Yeah, I think so,” you nodded. “I’m teaching that and I cover a lot but I should keep it brief on some parts so kids don’t get bored learning it over and over again.”
“I’ve got Good Magic Mastery,” Jay commented. “We should have some classes together.”
“That’s a good idea!” you exclaimed. “Heeseung, you have anything?”
“Uh,” Heeseung looked over his schedule. “I’ve got Beast Magicment, and muse-ic… we’ll probably use some music magic for that.”
“I’ll let you cover those. Oh! Heeseung, you and Jake have two similar courses. Hero stuff.”
The two started talking and looking over each others’ curriculums once you’d said that. Jay and Sunghoon looked over what you had to check if anything could be intertwined. “Heeseung has Beast Magicment,” you commented to Jay, who had Beast Care.
“Do you know what the Grimm brothers have?” Sunghoon asked. “They must have a few magic classes as well, huh?”
“We have so many magic classes,” Jay said. “But none of us are even magical. How are we going to demonstrate anything?”
“We’ll just have to wing it,” Heeseung sighed. “This is just a temporary fix, remember? We won’t have to teach very long.”
“Well, we won’t be at the school very long either,” you said. “So, they better get people in here faster than how quickly we’re going to be gone.”
Tumblr media
“How’d your classes go, you guys?,” you asked, yawning as you put books away back where they should be. “Meet any princesses?”
Jake gasped. “There was this really pretty guy in crownculus! He looked like a princess. His skin was as white as snow, and his hair was so black and dark. He was beautiful.”
“Sunoo White?” Heeseung asked.
Jake nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah him! I wish he was a prince! I could trick father and marry Sunoo!”
“Oh, I know who you’re talking about,” you agreed. “He’s probably the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. Oh! I met a princess though. Sakura Beauty.”
“Yeah, she’s in my Science and Sorcery class!” Sunghoon said. “She’s beautiful too. Actually seemed like a princess… unlike someone.”
“Shut up,” you said, kicking his leg. “I met another person too. He was stunning.”
“Oh, was it the boy you were goggling at in Advanced Elfonomics?” Jay asked you.
“What? Y/N? Goggling? At a boy?” Sunghoon asked.
Jay grinned, nodding, as you bowed your head in shame. “The pretty one with the dark hair. He’s really shy, and sits in the back. Y/N always sneaks looks back at him.”
“Ah, the one you were talking to during Creative Storytelling on the first day?” Heeseung asked. “Yeah, you were in a trance or something. I thought he was some Dark Fairy for a second.”
“Ha,” you huffed. “He’s just beautiful. Let me admire him in peace will you? It’s not like I would pursue a commoner seriously.”
“That is true. The day you marry anywhere lower than your rank is the day I will step down as a prince,” Heeseung chuckled.

Chapter four
Notes: yeonjun interaction!!, reader switching up really fast when she isn’t praised, reader being an asshole and hating the commoners as usual (she will improve i swear), slight mentions of emotional and physical abuse, mention of small character death, mentions of family issues, bad father,
“Welcome to your first class of the year,” Wilhelm bowed his head, before tapping his chalk against the chalkboard. “This is Creative Storytelling. Both my brother, Jacob Grimm, and I will be teaching this course, in order for you all to gain an understanding of storytelling from multiple perspectives.
“However, for today, I will make it simple. You are all to go around the class and introduce yourselves. Tell your own stories. No need to get too personal, but many of you have just been through something terrifying… something traumatizing. Dig into that. Embrace it and find your story.”
You shared this class with one of your brothers- Heeseung. The only other person you knew was Taehyun, who sat next to you. Immediately you made eye contact with Heeseung, who was on the other side of the row you’d seated yourself on.
What story? You hoped to communicate with your eyes.
He seemed to get it, as he shrugged in response. Don’t ask me.
The class seemed a bit quiet. There was no chatter, just people hesitantly looking around. As you looked around, you made eye contact with a girl a few rows behind you. You got up, the chair scraping loudly as you pushed it back.
Many eyes were on you, as they should be, but you ignored them and kept your gaze upon the girl, whose face was slowly turning pinker and pinker. She would almost be as pink as her hair.
“I’m a bit lost on what to do. So, do you mind telling me your story, dear?”
Be a princess. Feign ignorance.
She stuttered a little, before starting. How annoying.
“How cute,” you giggled.
She turned a bit pinker- pretty much red at this point. “I am not from the woods, Your Royal Highness. I am also a Princess like you, but of the Beauty Kingdom.”
“Well then,” you curtsied, and she fumbled, getting up to do the same to you. You placed a hand on her shoulder, gently pushing her back down. “You need not worry my princess. In the Charming Kingdom, you are a honoured and welcomed guest. I am glad that you are well.”
The entire class looked on at the two of you. Two beautiful princesses interacting. Now, who wouldn’t want to see such a marvellous event?
But, while you understood their intrigue from that point of view, you also thought something that you were sure many others were thinking as well.
How are you alive, Princess Beauty?
Tumblr media
Princess Beauty- whose name was Sakura- rambled, more than told a cohesive story. Once you’d both stepped away from each other, other students gained the courage to get up as well. Heeseung was speaking to someone… quite beautiful. He had skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood and hair as black as ebony. Features that you believed wouldn’t mesh well, did so beautifully on that boy’s face. You would’ve thought him to be a prince, if not for the sewed-up rips in his clothes.
Either way, you would ask Heeseung for the prince-like boy’s name later.
Taehyun spoke to a girl that held herself up well. She looked elegant, her head held high, her back straight. Instinctively, you straightened up yourself.
You were a princess. You must be elegant. More so than a mere citizen of your kingdom.
Most people were speaking to someone else, so you were waiting for their conversations to end… until you glanced up and to the side. There was a boy… all the way in the back. He sat alone, and was picking at his nails. He glanced up- possibly feeling someones’ gaze on him- and made eye contact with you.
You smiled but not as fast as he looked away.
Immediately your smile fell. How dare he look away? You were just about to grace him with your charming smile!
Ignoring conversations you’d been listening into, or any other person in the classroom, you walked over to him, head held high, a mission to accomplish.
You’d get this boy to look at you. He would fall for you and your charms, you were sure.
Standing in front of the boy’s desk, you placed your hands on the wooden row he’d seated himself behind. “Hello. I am Y/N Charming. Would you mind telling me your story?”
Hesitantly, the boy looked up at you. You almost took a step back.
He was… pretty. Yes, very pretty.
You couldn’t say pretty. Sakura Beauty was pretty. She was a princess.
He clearly wasn’t Charming. You were charming. Your brothers, even though you hated to admit it, were charming.
Well, he wasn’t beautiful either. That boy Heeseung was speaking to. He was beautiful.
But this boy? He was breathtaking.
“The story I’ve made is quite the long one,” he said. He spoke softly. You leaned in closer to hear him better. “I wouldn’t want to bother you with it, Your Royal Highness.”
“Now, now,” you walked around the row he sat at. You noticed him slouch a little. Did he think you were going to walk away? As you turned the corner and walked into his row, he perked up. “How many times must I tell you all to stop addressing me in such a way. We are classmates, are we not? Call me Y/N.”
“Y/N,” he said carefully. “Are you sure you want to hear my story?”
You smiled softly. “I would love to hear any story as long as it came from your lips.”
He looked away bashfully, and you noticed a small smile on his face. Even you felt your face heating up a little. What did I just say? And to a commoner, no less? Control yourself Y/N.
“However.” He looked up at you with wide eyes. He seemed doubtful. Like he was a bother; like you wouldn’t listen to him and back out last minute. “Would you mind telling me your name first?”
“My name is Yeonjun,” he said, bowing his head. “Yeonjun Ella.”
As he raised his head, you caught yourself staring at his lips. Quickly lifting your gaze up to his eyes, as he looked at you, you smiled. “What a pretty name. Yeonjun Ella. I wouldn’t mind listening if you simply said your name over and over.”
Yeonjun grinned a little. “You live up to your name, Princess Charming.”
You shivered, straightening up, trying to get rid of this god-awful feeling. Covering it up by placing your elbow on the desk, turning your body around to face him, and resting your cheek on your palm, you smiled at him.
“Tell me your story Yeonjun.”
You thought you would keep him out of your head. With how you stared at him, you believed you wouldn’t hear a single word that came out of the lips you tried your hardest not to stare at.
But you did. And you loved it. You loved his story.
Once upon a time…
There was a beautiful woman. She was both beautiful inside and out. Her beauty entranced a wealthy merchant, who wed and impregnated her soon after. During the pregnancy, she had an illness. Her husband begged her not to give birth to their child, as they were told it would only make her worse. It could possibly kill her. However, she chose to give birth to the child. It was not even a girl, as the husband had hoped. He wanted someone who could perfectly pass down the beauty of his wife. The mother, however, was joyful, despite her sickness which grew worse and worse with each passing day.
She had been able to watch her son grow for a little. With the little time the mother and son had together, she taught him the importance of kindness and of acceptance. She raised him well. However, she eventually passed on.
The grief-stricken widower, coped by leaving the home. He was gone for months. On his own, the son had to cook and clean all on his own. It was something he got better at as the months passed. He had gotten used to living alone as well. The creatures would keep him company. He would feed the birds that sat on the window sill. He let squirrels and mice in, to have at least some interaction with life. Eventually many woodland creatures let their way through the door. He had many friends. The young boy was kind. And he was happy, despite not being with his mother.
Then the father returned. He returned and seemed to have forgotten that he had a son. He returned with a new wife and two new sons. The creatures ran off. The father turned a blind eye to his wife and step-sons who continuously abused his own child. The son was made to do all the chores, without complaint. He was a servant of the new family his father had made- he was not truly part of it. No one loved him. He was completely and utterly alone.
And he would stay that way for the rest of his life.
The End.
You gulped. “Well, that was quite the story, Yeonjun.”
He seemed embarrassed, and looked away. “Did you not like it?”
“Oh no, it was good, don’t worry,” you said quickly, taking ahold of his hands, and squeezing them. He looked at your hands and then at your face- equally as shocked as his- before you let go, covering it up with a smile again.
“But I like happy endings.”
“Oh well…” Yeonjun slumped. “I can’t think of a happy ending.”
“Well then… allow me to finish it for you. With a proper ending.”
Yeonjun nodded. “That would be an honour.”
He believed his life would go on that way forever.
Until The End.
But one day, announcers were coming around, knocking from door to door. The wicked stepmother ordered her stepson to answer it. He did so. The announcer paused. She took in the beauty of the boy in front of him. He was simply that breathtaking. However, he had no clue, due to the people he lived with.
The announcer cleared her throat and told him about the ball the royal family was holding. They were looking for someone to marry the princess. The heir to the throne. They were inviting everyone. The princess was known for rejecting every man thrown her way. She was quite picky, so the King had decided that anyone who was to catch his daughter’s eye would be allowed to marry her. Even despite their social ranking.
The son didn’t end up attending. He didn’t believe he could. He didn’t believe he deserved to. His stepbrothers attended, escorted by his father and stepmother. As he worked on his familys’ dinner for when they got home, the boy sang to himself. He hadn’t gotten to do that in a while.
He attracted the creatures of the wood. His old friends came back to visit him. They chirped and squeaked along with him.
At the ball, the princess rejected everyone that came her way. She was looking for the boy she’d found when she had dressed up as an announcer.
Yeonjun gasped.
Chuckling, you continued.
But, even later in the evening, when she had not caught sight of him, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She dressed one of her maids as herself and snuck out of the castle. She travelled back to the village, on horseback. The princess had gotten a little lost, having not had much experience in the forest. However, she heard a voice. A beautiful voice.
Following it, she found the home of the breathtaking boy she was looking for. She knocked on the door. Suddenly, the beautiful music stopped. “Mother?” The princess didn’t answer. “Brothers?” She stayed silent. “Father?”
“It is none from your family. Please open the door.”
The boy did so, despite being hesitant. He relaxed at the sight of the announcer from a few days prior. Bowing his head, he greeted her. “Hello ma’am. Is there anything you need? My family is at the ball tonight.”
“I had wanted you there,” she said. The boy was taken aback.
“Sorry, ma’am?”
“I am the princess,” she said. “And you were the one I waited for.”
The boy apologized. “I am forbidden from leaving the house,” he admitted. “Unless with my familys’ permission.” He explained his living situation.
The princess wouldn’t have it. “Come with me,” she ordered.
“But I couldn’t bother you like that,” the boy said.
She smiled. “Be my prince. Marry me.”
The bell rang. The chatter of the class ended abruptly, and Wilhelm Grimm quickly dismissed everyone.
“Well, what happens after?” Yeonjun asked as you rose.
“He becomes a prince. He marries her, of course. She’s a princess, who is he to deny her?”
“Well… she could be a liar,” Yeonjun murmured, as he packed away his things.
You raised a brow. “Are you calling the princess a liar?”
“Well, no, but how would the boy know that she was a princess? He shouldn’t be so naive.”
“And you shouldn’t be so old maidish,” you bit back. Your story was wonderful. You wouldn’t let some commoner tell you otherwise. “Let people live their happily ever afters while you wallow in your misery.”
Yeonjun’s heart dropped to his stomach.
“Yes. I apologize, your Royal Highness.”

Chapter three
Notes: plot moving chapter, so it’s reader centred, very short chapter
You were called in by the Brothers Grimm, quite early in the morning. The sun was just coming up, and Taehyun was fast asleep, half of his face covered by a book. You’d glanced at the title before you left your room. It was something you’d read a few years ago. You didn’t remember it all to well, but the plot twist was good.
Maybe I should talk to him about it when he-
Woah.
You would not engage in casual conversation with someone beneath you. That was unheard of. You could simply force one of your brothers to read it. Sunghoon definitely wouldn’t, but if you tried hard enough, the others would. Yes, you would talk about the book with them. Not with a man in rags.
The office of the Brothers Grimm was at the very tippy top of the castle. When you’d finally made it to the tower it was in, you sighed in relief. Swinging the doors open, walking in confidently, you opened your mouth to announce your arrival.
Only to see a set of stairs.
Following it with your eyes, your head tilted up, to see where the stairs went.
It went on and on in a spiral… were you supposed to walk up all those stairs?
Surely, they wouldn’t even make a commoner do this? This has to be the assignment. How could anything be more torturous than this? Yes. You just had to get through this. Then a dragon would fly you down.
Hopefully.
Tumblr media
By the time you’d made it all the way up, the sun was almost all the way up. It was almost seven in the morning. You could see the large clock on one of the towers from your height. It was at a lower level than you were.
This time, you opened the doors a bit more aggressively, huffing as you made eye contact with Jacob Grimm, who tilted his head once he saw you, a small smirk on his face.
“Glad to see you’ve finally made it princess.”
You did have a favourite brother. Wilhelm was more traditional. He followed the rules, he addressed you properly, and his older brother wasn’t the same. Jacob did not respect your title or you, in general. You hated it.
“Get that grin off your face, you bastard. How dare you make me walk up all those stairs?! And how dare you make me share a chamber with a man in rags! All of this is just insulting! I will make father fire you at once!”
So you treated him with as little respect as possible.
“Unfortunately, your beloved father made me do all those things. I didn’t want to- I knew of all the whining I would have to endure.” Jacob rolled his eyes, before sliding parchment across his desk.
“What is this?”
“Your expectations for the year. Many of these are things your father expects, not just us. We will be keeping a close eye on you and all your brothers. I will be the one reporting your improvements and failures to your father, not Wilhelm.”
“Huh? But you’re just… you’ll mess it up somehow, and make me look bad!”
“Oh trust me, dear, I don’t need to meddle to make you look bad,” he commented. Before you could get a filthy word out of your mouth, he put his hand up, making you hesitate. No one treated you this way. No one should and no one was allowed to treat you with such dismissal. “Come here, read it over.”
You did as instructed, albeit begrudgingly, and picked up the parchment with more force than necessary.
“This is…” Reading it over carefully, you continued. “I am expected to befriend… woodland citizens?”
“They are people of your kingdom, Y/N.” Jacob reminded you, resting his chin on his palm as he watched your reaction to the work he’d given you. “You must understand them and their concerns. What better way, than to befriend? Then, you would feel some sort of empathy. As a princess should.”
“But… but I am not a princess.”
Jacob raised an eyebrow at you. “Excuse me?”
“I’ve been trained in sword fighting. I know how to fly dragons. I have my own armour because I have an honourary knight award from the captain and the king. I caught one of the maids’ when she fell out of the tower! I am princely! I have proven time and time again that I deserve to be treated the same as my brothers for my charming prince-like qualities. So treat me as such.”
“Well,” Jacob sighed, bringing his hands down, interlacing them. “While even I can admit that all your achievements are impressive… you are still a princess.” You huffed. “Which is an important role. Don’t brush it to the side. As a princess, you are a ray of hope in dark times. Your elegance, confidence and beauty bring light to the citizens of the Charming kingdom. Your intelligence is a force to be reckoned with. You are one of the most respected people in the kingdom, as the only daughter of King and Queen Charming. As the only princess of this kingdom, you have an important role to play. Please don’t throw it away.”
After a moment, you gulped. Nodding, you put the parchment down. “What else is expected of me?”
“You are to teach a few classes.”
“What?”
This man just wouldn’t stop surprising you.
“You’ve been under Wilhelm and I’s wing for years. It is time for the brothers Grimm to share our wisdom, but there is only two of us. We must teach everyone in this castle for a year, and as this was a sudden arrangement, it was not possible for us to get assistance on such short notice. However, you and your brothers, people who have been taught and trained for leadership are the most suitable for the role at the moment. Therefor, while taking some classes, we also expect you to teach some, temporarily.”
“But… we know some things, sure, but…”
“It will only be the basics,” he assured you. “Then, once you catch your classmates up to your level, you can sit in class with them at a level that is yours. It will also be good review.”
“Oh… kay.” Straightening up, you cleared your throat. “Will that be all?”
“Well… while you do have these arrangements given to you, everyone expects the Charmings to be wonderful. You must show your future citizens that you are such. Go out of your way to do certain things. You mustn’t only do what your advisor tells you to. Take some initiative.”
Slowly nodding, you took the parchment back. “Initiative. Okay. I can do that.”
“The classes you must teach are on the parchment. While I wanted you to start the classes today, Wilhelm has arranged it so that you and your brothers begin teaching the day after tomorrow. You have two days to prepare.”
“Alright,” you nodded at Jacob. He never got up or bowed when you were about to leave the room. Either way, you still waved your hand in dismissal as a habit. “I am off.”
“Remember!” He called out, before you stepped out. “My brother and I are keeping a close eye on you and yours!”
“You are welcome for my presence!” You called back before shutting the door behind you.
Looking around you, you realized something.
Storming back inside the office, clenching onto your parchment, you demanded Jacob Grimm, “CHANGE THE LOCATION OF YOUR OFFICE!”
He smirked.
“No.”

Chapter two
Notes: lots of talking, I MEAN LOTS, so much dialogue, the charmings talk down abt the lower class, rich and spoiled royalty and snobby, Sunghoon is mean (but he sorta makes up for it), sibling dynamics, reader is shown to be very disgusted by poor people, reader is very very spoiled
“Alright, you all have everything you wanted to take yourselves, haven’t you?” Your lady in waiting asked, as all of you seated yourselves in your family carriage.
“Don’t fret so much, Wendy,” you grinned. “We have everything, and we’ll be back before you know it.”
“Yes, of course,” she smiled. “You five behave, alright? Don’t forget to write, either.”
“We’ll try,” Jake grinned. “No promises though. We’ll be busy instilling our leadership as the future rulers of our own kingdoms or whatever.”
“Why yes, you will be busy with that, won’t you? Well it’s only a year.”
“Exactly,” Heeseung agreed. “We’ll be back before you know it.”
“If that is so, future rulers of the Charming kingdom,” she said, curtsying. “‘Til we meet again, your Royal Highnesses.”
You pat her shoulder, indicating she could rise again. Before she closed the carriage door, you peeked your head out to give her a kiss on the cheek. “I’ll miss you, Wendy.”
“I’ll miss you too princess.”

“Oh my fairy godmother,” Jay said, looking through the parchment that his lord in waiting had handed him before getting on the carriage. He sounded terrified. Everyone’s heads turned to look at him. “What is it?” Heeseung asked, trying to look over. Jake did the same, his eyes widening as he read over the parchment.
“We have…” Jake gulped. “To share a chamber.”
There was a pause.
“Are you sure… you know the Brothers Grimm, they kid at times,” you chuckled nervously.
“Well, this isn’t funny,” Sunghoon said, as he looked through his own parchment. “Huh? I have been paired with… Sunoo White? Who in the kingdoms is that?”
“Probably someone from the Fairest Forest,” Jay reasoned. “I’m with a… Yuna Beanstalk?”
“Isn’t that the girl who went to the giant kingdom?” Jake asked.
Jay shook his head. “No way. That’s a myth. Probably just someone with a similar name. How about you Hee?”
Heeseung had been grinning the whole time. “I don’t have a chambermate!” Sunghoon snagged Heeseung’s parchment, and looked through, only to huff in annoyance.
“That’s not fair. We all should be able to have our own chambers. We’re the Charmings!” Sunghoon insisted, before looking over at you. “You’ve been quiet. What, did you not get a roommate either? Father must have arranged that.”
“No, I do,” you said, smugly. “But it’s with a prince.”
“HUH?!”
“And not just any prince,” you continued, flipping your parchment around for your brothers to see, and pointing to the surname of the prince you’d be sharing a chamber with. “A prince from the Beauty kingdom.”
“Why couldn’t they pair me up with a princess?,” Jake complained, slouching in his seat.
Jay raised an eyebrow. “Since when did King and Queen Beauty have a son?”
“Probably since their daughter was cursed,” you shrugged. “Who cares, though. I’ve got a better chance than any of you to becoming the heir.”
“Hey, we don’t have to sleep in the same chamber as someone to get them to fall in love with us,” Sunghoon said. “If anything, the prince is going to be repulsed by you.”
“Yeah, you’re a worse chambermate than Jay is,” Jake joined in, earning a kick to the legs from Jay.
“Well, that’s just insulting,” you huffed. “I’ll show you. I’ll get married before the rest of you will.”
The boys all snorted in unison, making you kick Heeseung’s legs.

“No one… will be escorting us?” Heeseung asked, tilting his head.
Wilhelm Grimm shook his head. “You will learn a thing or two about independence during your stay here. It is a smaller castle than your home, so you shall find it easy to navigate.”
“Wilhelm, I had a question about the chambers”-
“I apologize your Royal Highness, but unfortunately there will be no rearrangements about the chambers at this time. The five of you shall not get the opportunity to share chambers, and Heeseung shall not have the luxury of having his own for long.”
“Huh?” Heeseung asked, straightening up. “What do you mean by that?”
“The map is on the parchment that you’ve been given already,” Wilhelm said, ignoring Heeseung. “As future rulers of the kingdom, I expect this venture to be quite simple and easygoing for the five of you.”
“But sir, the ones we shall be sharing chambers with- they’re measly citizens!” Sunghoon said. “How can we stoop so low to be in shared vicinity of them.”
Wilhelm glared down at Sunghoon. “Have the King and Queen not done well enough to implement the obvious fact that without your citizens, you are nothing, Prince Sunghoon? How will you atone for saying such cruel things about the people who uphold a title you clearly do not deserve, Your Royal Highness?”
“But can you really say he is incorrect, Wilhelm, sir?” You joined in. “We, as royalty, have certain expectations. Has our father ever been made to live with the citizens of the forest? At the very least, do my brothers not have the right to share a dorm with fellow future rulers of kingdoms? Isn’t it important to build certain bonds?”
“I have paired no royals with each other, so you all can learn to appreciate the people of your Kingdom. Treat them the way they shall treat you, and be respectable and loveable rulers. That is all.”
“But”-
“You have pushed me too far, your Royal Highnesses,” Wilhelm said, turning back around to face you all. “I was hoping I would not have to do this, but now I shall. The five of you will be called down to the office of my brother and I. Please, arrive on time to collect your assignments of the year.”
“What assignments”-
Wilhelm bowed his head. “I expect you all to be settled into your chambers by curfew. Please excuse me, your royal highnesses.”
Hesitantly, the five of you waved your hands, and Wilhelm walked ahead, up the stairs, towards the entrance of the castle. There was no one else outside. It was later in the night, so you assumed that the Brothers Grimm had everyone go into their chambers so you all could go inside with no commotion.
Heeseung sighed before walking up the stairs as well. You glanced over at Jay, who followed after, and Jake, who went up as well, biting his lip so hard you thought it may bleed. When you looked over at Sunghoon, he was already looking at you, also clearly nervous.
“We’ll have to keep up appearances for a while. The whole time we’re here.”
“Yes, we will,” you agreed, nodding. Looking up at your brothers, who were slowly going up the stairs, taking in their surroundings, you sighed. “We better find a secret meet up spot soon. Before Heeseungs’ roommate moves in, so we have a place.”
Sunghoon nodded, silent. “This is going to be tough.”
“It’s only a year,” you reasoned.
Sunghoon took a deep breath. “Only a year.”
Heeseung stopped, nearing the top stairs of the castle. Jay and Jake stopped as well, when they noticed their older brother had too. They all turned around, looking down at you and Sunghoon.
“Come on then! What’re you waiting for?”
You grinned up at them. “This is the beginning of our reign as rulers of the Kingdom. Let us take it in for a bit, will you?”
“We may be gifts to the world, but it still won’t wait for us,” Jay called back.
“Accept your destiny a little faster, will you?!” Jake joined in.
You looked over at Sunghoon, who was still looking apprehensive. You pat his back before heading up the steps yourself. Without looking back you called out to him. “Don’t get left behind, little brother!”
Sunghoon skipped steps to catch up with you. “Oh, I won’t get left behind. You, watch your back, though.”
“Is that a challenge?” You asked, raising your chin up higher.
“Of course, it is,” Sunghoon said rolling his eyes. “Although I do know you're a bit slow, so I should explain, huh?”
You bumped his shoulder with yours, chuckling. “Just you wait. I’ll show you who the better Charming is.”
Tumblr media
You knocked on the door to your chamber, your heart thumping loudly in your chest. The door would be opened by a prince. A handsome, wealthy, respectable prince. He was a Beauty, after all.
When the knob turned, you held your breath. As it slowly opened, revealing the handsome prince… in rags, you let go of that breath. “You are… Taehyun Beauty?”
“Yes, I am.” He bowed his head immediately. “You must be Y/N Charming. It is a pleasure to meet you, your royal highness.”
Waving your hand in dismissal, you covered up your shock with a charming smile. “Why, yes, I am. No need to bow every time your gaze falls upon me, however. We will be… sharing a chamber after all.”
“Of course, your royal highness. Come in.” As he shut the door behind you, he asked if you needed any assistance.
“Not at all, do not worry yourself. I can do all of this by myself.”
You’d expected him to applaud you, gasp, maybe, because a princess doing her own heavy lifting was unheard of. That sort of thing was for peasants.
But he simply nodded and let you open your boxes on your own.
You were appalled.
Was this what the rest of the year would be like?
Would no one be with you to heed your every order? Be impressed by your small actions?
You gasped aloud. “Is something wrong, Y/N?”
Shivering to get the disgusting feeling of a commoner saying your name, out of your head, you shook your head, smiling up at him. “Not at all. I just had a surprising thought.”
You would have to bathe on your own.
