Why is this so true
PROCESS OF TRYING TO TEACH IN KOREA: RECRUITERS
yooo let me tell you about these recruiters. I met a lot people before landing my job but let me just give you a few you that you may come across
The hustlers: YOOOO DONT BE FOOLED! These recruiters really do not care about you, they are just trying to make the gwap. They legit will place you in a crud school set you up with an interview and guilt trip you to take it. They will make it look like this is your only option especially if you have no experience teaching in Korea or masters. There ads usually have like a million schools, they show the best high wages, and decent hours great location. BUT when you email them about it they present to you these cruddy schools that are probably one of those blacklists of hagwons foreigners should avoid. RUN from these people some are very charismatic. Watch your back because no one else will.
The White Lovers: They only want that mayonnaise. They will usually tell you straight up we only want whites.
The Scammers: Fakes ads tell you to send your passport photos and all your docs. Actually most recruiters ask you send all your docs but be weary I would not send my docs to any recruiters especially without talking to them first. Make sure they are reputable. STAY SAFE GUYS DONT BE A BUCKET.
The Big Companies/ Top Dawgs: They are popular and many people sign up. They may not spend a lot of time trying to help you. If you lack experience you not first priority especially when its the really busy seasons. Try signing up with them really early for when you want to start. Maybe 6 months early?. They are very business minded and professional. Sometimes losing that human touch. Definitely they are popular for a reason and pretty organized and usually help you from the very beginning until touch down. Just warning you though not to have high expectation because they can let you down :’( cough cough “ryhmns with moriva”
The Ghosts: They may seem helpful in the beginning but you never hear from them again. Literally you will be sending  emails like “dawg we still cool?” but all you will hear is silence. I am sorry you are not going to get help from them.
Do not be a afraid to use many recruiters . In the beginning I was very loyal stayed with one but they were taking too long to find me schools. They were sweet but time was running out so I went around emailed many recruiters.

For anyone reading this in the future, I’m going to go ahead and say DONT use fedex. That’s what I’ve used always but unfortunately they’ve let me down in the most time sensitive moment :(
E2 Visa Process (Part 2): Sending Your Documents to Korea
Follow these steps you after you have successfully certified your RCMP certified criminal record check and a copy of your diploma at your nearest Korean consulate.
The followings items need to be mailed to the school in Korea so that the school can then begin the process of sponsoring your visa and eventually getting your visa confirmation number which can then be used to get your E2 Visa at the Korean consulate (That’s right you’ll have to visit the consulate again or mail in your passport).

My students love the game Guess Who but have a hard time remembering the English questions. Just for fun and as a tool, I wrote out the English paired with the Korean translation and also how to say the English questions in Korean. I know it’s not good to have students learning English through “Konglish” but sometimes you just gotta put up with it.
I couldn’t find anything similar online and I know other teachers in Korea have to have the same problem, so I put it on Tumblr for anyone who needs it :)

Tumblr media
I’m going to start documenting my teaching journey here. Maybe it will help others who decide to teach abroad as well.
