he holds my hand when i wake up shaking. he pets through my hair when it takes me a moment to realize i'm not dreaming anymore. he's patient with me when i flinch because my body hasn't caught up to not being in my nightmares again. he lets me hold onto him and if i need to cry he allows it. i bury my head in his shoulder and clutch his shirt with both fists, and he pats my back while my breathing evens out and i calm down.
