38. Feels kind of crazy when you pause and think back for a second how long of a time it has been. (Great news #1) I am beyond flattered to have been chosen as one of this year’s @adweek 2022 creative 100!!🙏🏆 As artists, we are in a constant never ending whirlwind that is made up of somewhere in between the sensation of achievement and the fear of if you’re creating anything of any value. It is great to have made it on the same list as other creators that I have much respect to such as @anderson._paak @dojacat @jacksonwang852g7 (& many many more!)🏅 Awards like this is a nice healthy checkmark that validates yourself that although the path may be very foggy and hard to see, that you are somewhat heading in the right direction. Thank you to every single one of you that have supported my artistic journey for the past (almost 2) decade. 📷: @darkmaito | Still stuck in an surreal state of mind since we visited Marrakech, Morocco last week. It was my first time that I had ever set foot on the African continent, & until I did so I couldn’t even remember when the last time I ever entered a new continent I had never been in my life was. The culture was so different (especially since we had gone during Ramadan), the buildings were so mesmerizing, the food was amazing, and more than anything the people were beautiful. I had genuinely forgotten how amazing people can be. More than anything, it felt great to be in an uncomfortable territory. To not just understand as a piece of information on the internet, but to physically first hand experience something that is totally outside your understanding. Where your idea of “right” is completely dismantled… where your “wrong” could be the core belief to some people. Wow wow wow… where do I even begin. @hueman_ you are such an amazing artist and you inspire me so much in depth you may not even realize. It’s still so crazy to think that I may had never met you if we hadn’t accidentally become roommates over a decade ago lol. “Sadly most installation galleries nowadays are just instagram opportunities and quick cash grabs” I couldn’t agree more to your words at the opening night but seeing that there can be people that create True art without having to compensate their quality and beauty truly gives me so much hope.
