wow. um. heyyy

its been, what, almost 7 months since i posted anything here? maybe less, maybe more, i dont rlly know

firstly i wanna apologize for suddenly leaving, i genuinely did not mean to disappear. i know i had people waiting for continuations of fics and such, so i guess i should also apologize to those people because... well to put it bluntly those things aren't coming out anytime soon. i think its pretty obvious that i abandoned this account for a reason and it's because i don't really enjoy writing for kpop anymore. i still love the groups i stan, don't get me wrong, but i just dont particularly enjoy writing about them anymore.

before this ends up being too dramatic, i've decided that this account will stay abandoned. as on right now, i have no plans to actually deactivate it, but if i do, all of my works will be deleted beforehand. but since i've gotten so much love on these posts and people have told me how much they enjoy these works, the likelihood of me deleting everything is very low as of now.

and finally i do want to thank everyone who has supported anything i've posted these past 2 years. it was wonderful while it lasted, and ultimately helped me get back into writing.

i doubt anyone will see this, but if you do, thank you! :)

My dad isn't the best dad in the world. He's flawed and we fight a lot, and most of it is because of our financial situation. He's the sole earner of my family but things haven't been looking up for us the past few years. It is one of the reasons why things have gotten as bad as it is now- I should have known that he's hidden his illness for a while now because he doesn't want to add more debt into our family burden just because of a "small cough", especially with the pandemic.

It turns out, he has pneumonia and high glucose blood levels. The pneumonia made a hospital reject giving him first aid care this Monday (22/3) despite his COVID tests showing up negative because they were "incapable of handling a possible COVID patient" due to the fact that my dad's lungs x-rays had signs of infection on it. Keep in mind that he has a high fever and isn't even able to walk or go to the bathroom by himself. They didn't even provide a sufficient IV drip for my dad or a fitting oxygen mask. Monday night we brought him home in hopes of treating his sickness at home because we couldn't afford any other options. At 1am, he woke up from his sleep at home and puked. We brought him to an ER 30 mins away that told us on the phone that they would take a patient with possible pneumonia as long as their COVID-19 test come out negative. When we got there, they just stood there for 20 mins looking at my dad convulsing in the car before rejecting to give him care after I showed him his lung results. I begged them to at least give him first aid but they told me condescendingly that if my dad passed away, they wouldn't be liable. So I went home in tears.

Tuesday 6AM my dad went into septic shock. Money be damned, I called an ambulance from a private hospital that informed me they would take possible patients despite them having COVID or not. I thought that my dad could get the first aid help and then later be admitted to a normal room, but when the medics arrived the first thing they told me was: he has to be put into an ICU.

I have just recently resigned from my job due to high risk of COVID-19 exposure, and both my mom and my sibling are unemployed. We've asked for friends and family for help, but it's just not enough given that we don't have an insurance and an ICU room costs $1k/night. As we're living in a third world country, no medical action will be taken before we given if we don't pay first. We've used up all of our penny to the last drop to keep my dad plugged into the ICU machines and keep him alive to this daym

As of right now, he's fighting as hard as he can to keep his body alive. He's doing his best, and I know I should do my best too. I've ran out of options.

His whole life, my dad has always teased me that I don't love him as I never express it verbally. You know how us Asians get- I never said it to him because I assumed that he should just know.

You had started working as an assistant makeup artist for Ateez for a couple of months now. You had spent some time shadowing the other artists to see how the whole process went down and you fit right in. Your job was simple — just make the boys look good. You knew how to do that. After a few weeks of shadowing, were assigned to be Seonghwa’s makeup artist. You enjoyed it; He spent most of his time in your chair either catching up on sleep or talking to the camera that was being shoved in his face.

But after 3 weeks, you were assigned to do Jongho’s makeup. It wasn’t because you weren’t doing your job right, or Seonghwa asked for a new makeup artist or anything, it was just what happened. You were still new, so you were expecting any changes that came your way. You didn’t really know that that well but from what you had seen, he was nice, so you weren’t nervous.

When you made your way backstage to start his makeup, he was sitting in his chair, almost waiting for your arrival.

“Hey!” he greets you, a big smile plastered on his face. “You’re my new makeup artist, right?”

“Oh… uh, yeah,” you reply, grinning. You set down your things on the vanity in front of him.

Jongho sits back in his chair. “I’ve seen you around for some time now. We haven’t really got the chance to meet properly. But if you’re going to be working with us we should, right?” he asks.

“Of course… that makes sense.” you reply. “Well, I’m (y/n).”

“I’m Jongho… it’s really nice to meet you.”

It falls silent. Does he want you to continue the conversation? He does know he’s an idol, right? You’re not supposed to be anything more than his makeup artist.

But he continues the conversation himself. “We’re close in age, I think. Not to sound like a creep, but I heard the other makeup artists talking about you. They said they’re really impressed by you.”

“Mmhmm?” you reply, pinning his bangs back. You try and tune him out and focus on his makeup. Of course you were given the member who’s the opposite of Seonghwa. You sigh.

“Oh. Am I boring you?” Jongho asks. What was he talking about?

“No.” your voice is more harsh than you expected it to be.

But Jongho takes the hint, falling quiet. You finish doing his makeup with a pang of guilt in your chest the entire time.

For the past week, Jongho still tried to talk to you. Everyday. And unlike the first day, he didn’t stop talking if your answers were short, or completely nonexistent.

But you were so close in age that it was becoming harder and harder to ignore him. You had a lot more in common with him than you thought, and there was no denying that he was cute. But this was your job. You couldn’t risk that or Jongho’s career just because he was charming. You had to keep up the wall between you and him.

As you were doing his makeup, he suddenly opened his eyes. “Jongho,” you sigh, trying to suppress your smile. “What are you doing?”

“I just wanted to look at you.” he grins.

“Don’t say things like that.” you tell him sternly. “Now close your eyes so I can finish your makeup.”

Jongho keeps his eyes for just a moment more before shutting them again. You shake your head. Why was he making this so difficult?

“I’m sorry.” Jongho says softly.

Great. You made him feel bad yet again.

“It’s… fine.” you reply awkwardly. “I just don’t want to get in the way of you and your career. I’m just your makeup artist. I didn’t come here to be friends with idols.” you tell him.

Even though he doesn’t show it, you can tell Jongho is disappointed. You didn’t like having to be so stern with him. You wanted to be friends with him, but it was made very clear that you weren’t supposed to.

But you might have to make an exception.

A few days later, you saw Jongho again. His makeup was already done because they had an event to do earlier that morning, but you still had to do some touch-ups before he went out on stage.

You brushed a lip product onto his lips and tried to avoid eye contact.

“I love days like this where we have events early in the day. We’re usually finished by noon.” he tells you.

“Is that so?” you ask. “So waking up at 3 am is worth it?”

Jongho sighs. “No… not at all. That’s the only downside.”

You grin but can’t help but feel bad at Jongho’s hectic schedule. He was probably more exhausted than he ever let show. You finished touching up his makeup.

“After this, I’ll probably need some caffeine. Just something to help me get through the rest of the day.” Jongho says.

“I can get you something from a vending machine maybe?” you suggest. “I might have time to run to a nearby store or something, although that isn’t really my job… I might have to ask a manager to do that.”

“How about we go to a cafe after this?” he asks.

Was he really going to ask you that so suddenly? You stare at him for a moment, stunned at his bravery. Every fiber of your being is telling you to say no. But you can’t do it. You can’t.

You sigh. “Alright, fine.” you reply, keeping your tone low. “But don’t tell anyone else, okay? Especially not the other members. If you tell them, the whole world's gonna know we have a coffee date.”

Jongho smiles. “Of course.”

Hongjoong comes backstage and tells Jongho it’s time for them to get mic’d up. He gives you a smile before quickly heading out.

“By the way…” Jongho says, looking at himself in the mirror to make sure he looked good. “You’re the one you called it a date. Not me.” he grins before leaving the dressing room, leaving you once again stunned.

honestly, he’d have a blast watching you fangirl over a group. yeah, he’s in one, but you don’t exactly see hongjoong as a boygroup member. he’s your boyfriend and although you love him very much, you never feel the need to fangirl over him. when it came to the other group, though, you couldn’t help but feel awestruck by everything they do. i can definitely see him just watching you fangirl while laughing and smiling because if you’re happy, he’s happy no matter what.

“baby, you’ve been listening to their new song all day… i guess you really like it. i can’t complain though, it is pretty good!”

i think he’d have a pang of jealousy for only a second before realizing it isn’t a big deal. you make it very clear that although you love this other group, he’s still number one. he’d definitely take the opportunity of you loving another group to cover their songs on vlive for you. i also think he’d find it really cute to see you get so excited over their music videos and other content that he can’t even bring himself to be jealous.

“did you see san and i covering their song? i remember you telling me how much you liked the choreo, so i learned it!”

like hongjoong, he wouldn’t really care. seeing you so excited and happy over anything instantly makes him melt. he’d make jokes about how ateez should be your favorite group and pretend to be pouty over it, but at the end of the day, it’s all jokes. he’ll listen to your favorite songs from the group and sing along if he knows them. he’ll give you a heads up to let you know if the group will be performing with them at music shows.

“you get to see them live, i get to have my baby in the audience watching me, it’s a win-win! you just have to promise to cheer for us both.”

he’d pretend to be offended at first, but he doesn’t really mind. he just loves poking fun at you. he knows you love him more than all the members of the other group combined. he’s more than happy to listen to you ramble or just fangirl in general over the group. he’ll even buy their albums for you if he has the chance, just because seeing you so happy warms his heart.

san swears up and down he isn’t jealous, but he is. he uses this jealousy to perform even harder on stage. you tell him all the time that you’re just a fan of the group, and you still love him and ateez. once he actually sees you fangirling over the group, he doesn’t mind and actually enjoys seeing you fangirl because everything you do is so cute to him. like seonghwa, he’d cover their songs to impress you. he’d love to pick on you for being so smitten over them.

mingi would not care. like, at all. in fact, he’d let you introduce them to him, show him their music, and he’d probably be just as a big as a fan as you. he just doesn’t understand why you get so shy at the thought of meeting them — he told you he’d try to get their autographs for you if he ever got the chance and you freaked out because you knew he’d tell them everything about you. that’s just because he loves talking about you.

“but, babe, why don’t you get excited over the thought of my autograph! i can give it to you right now!”

i think wooyoung would be like a few other members. he’d pretend to be jealous because, you’re the one dating him, aren’t you supposed to be his biggest fan? (no matter how many times you tell him you are, he’ll pretend to be pouty over the fact you like this other group.) but he actually loves the other group you like and actually looks up to them, so sometimes he can’t help but fangirl with you. and even though most of the time he’d tease you and be pouty, he’d buy you their albums just to make you happy.

“did you see their performance? they performed right after us and i walked past them! would it be dumb for me to say i got starstruck?”

jongho is obsessed with everything you do, so if you’re a fan of another group, he’s completely in support of it. he’ll sing you their songs if you’re feeling down because he knows you love his voice and the other group, so it totally works. he just loves you so much that any jealousy that could possibly bubble over never even has the chance because even when you’re fangirling over another group, you just look so cute.

“this is your favorite song, right? i wonder if we’d be allowed to cover this… i wanna see your reaction if we do!”

It had been 6 days since you last talked to Hyuck. You knew because you had been keeping track. You had spent the last week and a half hoping and praying that finally, he’d return your calls, text you back, something.

You and Hyuck had gotten into your first big fight -- looking back, you were embarrassed at how minuscule the problem at hand was. You both yelled and said things you didn’t mean and it resulted in Hyuck storming out of the room and never coming back. You knew you were both stronger than this, but no matter what you did, Hyuck ignored your existence.

It hurt.

If this was the end of your relationship with Hyuck, fine. Some things aren’t meant to be. But if this was the end of your friendship with Hyuck, you’d never forgive yourself. You were best friends with Hyuck for years before he asked you out. He was your best friend, your rock, your love. So you decided to take matters into your own hands.

You knew there was a chance it could make things worse, but you didn’t care. You finally pulled yourself out of bed, changing out of your pajamas. You decided you’d have to head to Hyuck’s without eating or making yourself look presentable because you didn’t have any time to waste. You had the courage to confront him and there was no way in hell you were going to risk that courage disappearing. You opened the front door only to see a familiar figure walking away.

“Hyuck?”

He stops in his tracks, shoulders dropping upon realizing that he had been seen.

“Hi.” he turns. He looks tired. Just like you. “Um… I didn’t mean…”

“Why are you here?” you ask.

He puts his hands in the pockets of his jacket and rocks back and forth on his heels. What a rare sight it was to see Hyuck nervous. “To apologize.” he admits. “But… I chickened out. To be honest, I’ve spent all this time trying to figure out what to say. I spent a few days being angry, but…”

“Why didn’t you return my calls?” you cross your arms, trying to hide your sadness. “I’ve been calling you for days.”

“And I’ve been ignoring them for days,” he fires back. “I told you I’ve been trying to figure out what to say… how to fix this.” he sighs.

“But it’s not all on you,” you tell him, stepping forward to bring yourself closer to him. “We fought. If we want to fix this,” you put your hand on the side of his face. “It has to be a joint effort, you know?”

“I know I hurt you, though,” he says, closing his eyes. “And I’ve never felt worse.”

“We both regret it, then.” your voice is barely above a whisper. “We can fix this… it’s just a tiny bump in the road, is all.”

“So… you forgive me?” Hyuck asks.

You look up at him and grin. “Of course I do. I couldn’t hate you if I tried.”

Hyuck smiles before pressing his lips against yours. “I’ve been wanting to kiss you again for days,” he exhales. “I really thought you’d still be mad.”

You shake your head. “I’m sorry you thought that,” you mumble against his lips. “Come inside. I’ll make us breakfast and we can put all of this behind us.”

definitely rekindle! i worked very hard on it and unlike a lot of fics i’ve started writing, i actually finished it and was proud of it! there are some things i wish i had changed, but i’m just glad to know i’ve grown in the months after writing it. :-)
