Humss was my shs strand of choice because of what it has in store for me . I’ve known for a long time that this is the path ill take , however prior to this I had no idea what this strand was all about . After doing some research I realized that this strand is the one for me . I know that it will benefit and develop me not just as a student as well as a person , it has a lot to offer to an individual like me . People advise choosing a strand that is related to your dream path.

And for me, Psychology has always been a fascinating and engrossing topic for me. I like to learn more about society, the people around me and particularly myself. I am curious as to what they believe, how they think. When my friends ask me for support or advice when they are having issues, it makes me happy that they want to know about my opinion. Sometimes when I am unable to provide them with answers, I get frustrated with myself.

Some would wonder why I didn’t just choose stem if I wanted to study psychology since it is also related to medicine. Let’s admit it, stem is the safest strand due to its subject and the benefits it provides, especially on college entrance exams. They emphasize and place a greater emphasis on stem subject than on other strands. But I decided to take the risk rather than place it safe. It is also because I am aware that humss will be more beneficial. I know that this strand will help me develop my communication skills, which I am aware that I lack. I also know that humss will help me boost my self-esteem.

As Humss als discusses politics, history and other topics about which I'd like to learn more. I'm impressed with how this strand addresses and discusses current events in our society. As It also includes public speaking, debates as well as essay writing, all of which I'd like to build on. I am aware that I am not the best at writing essays and that I struggle with writing poems and stories, but I am confident and hopeful that I will improve. 

Mygrammar, vocabulary and writing skills are also things I'd like to improve. In fact, I was torn between abm and humss because I wanted to learn about business management, and starting my own business is one of my dreams.However, I realize that I can still accomplish that goal, but in a different way. I know that this journey I am about to begin will be my first in every way. I am looking forward to begin this journey...

Proof of Life: Friend Group

When I was young, I have always dreamed of having a group of friends that I can be through ups and downs. And that dream came through when I entered high school. Today's group of friends was my classmates when I was in grade 7. We consist of 7 girls and 6 boys, yes I have a large group of friends and sometimes it became a challenge for us. There are times when the friend group would be divided into groups, and before some of us were not close with each other. But in my case, I am close with everyone.  Our friend group is not perfect, we all have our own flaws, but those are what complete us and make us unique from the others. 

I spent 3 years of my junior high school seeing them every day until the pandemic came. The usual routine of greeting each other in the morning at school, eating lunch together, seeing each other in the hallway of the school, and the after classes chikahan suddenly stopped. We did not see each other for months but it was worth the wait. We did not even realize that we are already in grade 11. Most of us are studying in Manila now and we know that the day will come wherein we will have less opportunity to hang out and see each other once face-to-face classes start. Therefore, we always try to make time for each other to hang out and spend the rest of our remaining days here in our province. It is a sad reality but all we have to do is accept it. Although we will have less time to hang out, the memories will always stay and the friendship will also hopefully last forever. These people made me a better person, and they are also the people who made me feel loved and accepted.

All of us entered our teenage years together and now we are on another journey of entering legal age and adulthood. Lastly, I hope that these people would also be the people that I will celebrate my 80th birthday with.

Influence

This is an essay I wrote about the musical influence of Ben&Ben's Kathang Isip. At first,  I didn't know where to begin because I was overwhelmed with ideas in my head. 

After the debut of the song in 2017, the song continues to stay at the top of the music charts and continues to console people who can relate to the experience of the writer, who is part of the band. According to Paolo Benjamin, the song is about his experience of unrequited or one-sided love hence the title “Kathang Isip”. This song gave the impression that the listener's own story was being told. It reminded them of daydreaming about unrealistic romantic scenarios that never happened, and they had to let it go. However, some people who have not experienced the song's meaning found it melancholy and heartbreaking. They were able to empathize with those who had experienced unrequited love and had to let go of all the butterflies they had acquired because they had already accepted the fate that it was all in their imagination. This song is not just about unrequited love; it has a certain enchantment and comfort to it that will have you listening to it over and over again. A lot of people shared that they enjoyed listening to the song since they can imagine themselves on a road trip with the sound of the rain hitting the roofs of the car and the warmth of the cold air.  On top of that, this song teaches the listener the value of acceptance and letting go. It also taught them about love and how not all forms of love should be reciprocated. They stated that genuine love is offered without the expectation of anything in return. Ben and Ben used this song as a platform to remind us that love comes and goes for those who are destined to receive it. It is alright to not give back the love you have for a person if you know that your love is unsure. Rather, the right thing to do is to be grateful. Be open and honest about your feelings so you do not damage yourself or others too much.
