“Who wants mortality? Everybody wants immortality. You want what you create to live! Be it sculpture or a painting or music or a composition. Like Michelangelo said, ‘I know the creator will go. But his work survives. That is why to escape death I attempt to bind my soul to my work.’ That’s how I feel. I give my all in my work because I want it to just live and just give all that I have.”-Michael Jackson
Today, June 25, 2016 marks 7 years since the world lost a King. We love you Michael. Always have and always will. Rest in Power.
I know I rarely speak up on this blog and mainly reblog things, but I have to make an exception.
I’m French after all, our entire language is full of exceptions, and so can be our way of thinking.
I’m guessing you have heard of the terrorist attacks that took place last night in Paris, but if not, you need to know that at least 128 people were killed in terrorist attacks all around the city, and the violence and barbarism of these men outrages me.
The Islamic States have claimed responsibility for these attacks.
François Hollande has declared a state of emergency across the country, and there will be a moment of silence this monday at midday (french timezone), and three days of national mourning.
Many countries, including Great Britain and the United States, have shown their solidarity, and as a French citizen living abroad, I am very grateful to all of those sharing our pain.
I also wish to show my support to our brothers in Lebanon and Iraq who also suffered through terrorist attaks on the same night as us. I am grateful for the support towards France and French people, but please remember that we were not the only victims last night. We should all share the grief.
But we should be shocked. We should be standing up against those who want to terrorize and oppress us. We should hold hands and show them that they will not shatter us that way. We will remain free, united and strong.
This wave of terrorism created by the Islamic States long ago has to be stopped. But I don’t want to create hate against any religion or nationality, because, and mark my words, these events have no link whatsoever to ethnicity and/or religion.
DO NOT BLAME MUSLIMS
DO NOT BLAME MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLE AROUND YOU
DO NOT SPREAD HATE
THIS IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR ANTISEMITISM, RACISM AND HATE TO SPREAD AND CREATE MORE PROBLEMS
DROP THESE AND STOP FOR A SECOND TO THINK
WE NEED UNITY
WE NEED TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER
Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité : pas seulement pour nous Français, mais pour tous.
Liberty, Equality, Fraternity : not only for us French, but for all.
