I think it is apparent that i am a lover of side characters…for most series
That being said: does anyone know his name
He is adorable and i wish to shower him with love but i don’t want to just call him Akina’s friend and as I scan through episodes I find not a hint and it is killing me.
I know I’ve been spamming random Asian Circuit videos, but I also want to talk about Link Joker because I think it’s a really strong season in terms of character.
Of course virus that prays on your insecurities isn’t a new idea and it seems most people were just card zombies but I do like how a-lot of the know characters stuck to their motivations.
My two favorites are as always: Miwa and Tetsu!
They are both pulling to expand Link Joker’s power but its not for them, they both act to raise someone else to the top, an oddly twisted but still deep show of the loyalty they have to Kai and Ren respectively.
Miwa’s only goal is remove all obstacles and create a path for Kai to achieve his goal, he turns Jun not because he’s a strong fighter who could help Link Joker grow, but because he could be a threat to Kai.
He never denies that what he’s doing is selfish, simply replies that Kai’s wish is just vastly more important to him than the fate of the world. (Also his conversation with Jun has a lot of strong Miwakai from an outsider’s perspective moments, which I throughly enjoy)
He deliberately taunts Aichi with vague insinuations that play on his insecurities and respect for Kai to lure him out.
He does everything he can to pave a path for Kai to accomplish his goals without need to get his hands dirty, while Tetsu takes up arms to allow Ren to go as wild as he wants, turning the whole of Asteroid to give Ren a kingdom.
Tetsu considers Ren to be something above humanity, a king or a god meant to be worship. The person he’s serving is not Link Joker, but Ren.
Now both Asuka and Tetsu call him this, however Tetsu isn’t trying to control him like Asaku, he genuinely believes Ren is meant to be at the top. Admittedly his card for Ren is clearly twisted, with how he laughs off Ren’s wants to be normal, but that is also something built into their friendship as show in the flashbacks.
Ren has never been just some kid to Tetsu. Sure at first he didn’t like him, but slowly he grew to be someone Tetsu couldn’t leave behind, it’s why he stayed when Kai left.
You don’t suffer through all that verbal abuse without some inkling of care.
I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to properly convey my thoughts about link joker and my love for its character building, but I hope at least some of it got through (or at the very least my passion for miwakai and tetsuren)
I love Aichi can handle all the nonsense of vanguard, from mystic forces erasing his deck to card controlled zombies, but water fights are just bizarre
Okay so another thing about the beach is episode of Asian circuit that is glorious is the showing of everybody’s cooking abilities, and the absurdity of how they cook
Kai in all rendition of Vanguard knows how to cook canonically probably one of the best cooks because he lives alone and I find it funny enough in dub that he is just so seemly grossed out by lobster that he’s upset at the idea of touching lobster (something no one told him he had to do, Ren was making everyone stew and Miwa was making omelettes, he had no need to cook), but in sub, it seems like he’s just straight up fighting the lobster
The crustacean did nothing, and still won. Kai who were you fighting???????
And Ren….dear sweet lord Ren
Just throwing unwashed, unpeeled veggies in a pot without water and letting it run
THAT FISH STILL HAS ALL ITS BONES AND ORGAN SIR!
What haunts me most about this is not everyone’s absolute insanity to eat and help cook this without any questions asked (looking at you girls, Emi you help cook you should say something and Asuka stop encouraging him not adding water is asking for chard food) , but the fact that it somehow turned out good
So there has been discussions on this page about the son of police chief scene on this page before. I am not here to argue about that I just want to show off the absurd leeps in logic subs put on that scene
Miwa said connections and this man made a whole family tree and I have never loved the underground more
So divinez is going great and I’m excited to see how it goes
But more than anything
I have another crack idea and I will once again be taking my crumbles
Explanation (Names might be spelled wrong and Sou’s vanguard is currently unknown)
This
Is Suo, one look at him and the knowledge that this is anime based around mostly high school student will just automatically tell you he’s gonna be evil
I mean his vanguard is probably shadow paladins (because akina is royal paladins and i wanna be delusional) and appears like this
So clearly evil right?
But I think that’s dumb, I don’t want vanguard to play into stereotypes and I have been obsessed with a goofy little idea ever since they introduced him like this
So screw him being evil
Instead he is just a guy, not even thinking of joining whatever evil side is to come.
He even says he has no interest
“Why is he participating then?” I’m glad you asked!
Suo wants to do one thing; eat his yakisoba bun in peace. The way he met his vanguard was one day he was eating his yakisoba bun and felt something stab the roof of his mouth. When he went to check, he pulled a card from bun, looking up and finding the vanguard in-front of him in whatever nation his vanguard is from (probably dark nation states considering the color scheme of his vanguard and floating castle). All Suo wants is to eat his yakisoba bun but his vanguard cursed him so every yakisoba bun has a card inside of it until he agrees to be the representative of “the one who seeks the truth within zero” and now while everyone else fights for glory and their wishes, he is munching yakisoba buns in the background in low quality animation. Even as Akina and the main villain have their monologue he is just moving around in the background looking for a trashcan to throw the wrapper away.
The vanguard picked Suo because he looked evil, but Suo had no interest
