Supernova- Aespa Review

Hello all MYs! I was requested to do not 1 but 2 songs by Aespa and I don’t know much about them or the realm of girl groups for that matter but I am willing to learn, especially about Aespa! So let’s get started shall we?

Concept: 10/10 I like the concept of this song. I’m aware that their whole concept is AI but I liked how they’re colorful and fun. It was different and I really enjoyed it.

Lyrics: 9.9/10 Superfun, but the beat distracted me from the lyrics. But I can and will say that it is catchy and you will catch me singing this.

Beat: 12/10 Wow wow wow... I love the futuristic sound it has. With that being said, I could see maybe an animated superhero movie pick this up and put it on a soundtrack.

Visuals: 20/10: It was colorful, fun, and just... Wow.. I'm at a lost for words. First of all, I love a good transition and Aespa NAILED IT! and then when they made themselves superhuman in the video.... I almost lost my mind. It hit the nerd within me, and I was really happy about that. It was giving 2nd gen part 2: Futuristic and I love that.

Overall: 10/10 I will say I am new, and I am really interested in learning about Aespa. I don't think it's fair for me to judge them so brutally when I havent listened to them or barely know them as a group. With that being said, I this this song is a nice introduction to them and I can't wait to see what's net.

I will be listening to them more and checking out their discography. Like I said, I'm new to the girl group realm with only really listening to Kiss of Life and XG religiously. So, I guess you can say they will be added to the list of girl groups. So get ready for what Aespa has to offer if you're new and for all the MY's you've won the jackpot with these girls

Woke Up- XG Review

Though they are not technically a K-pop group, XG is the first girl group I have fully gotten into. XG (which is short for Xtraordinary Girls) are known for their music that crosses the lines and pushes the boundaries of music. They made their debut in March 18,2022 with their song "Tippy Toes" and since then, they've been keeping the world on their tippy toes (get it? haha) Fast forward to March 21st, 2024 just 3 days after the anniversary of their debut, they came out with this smash hit called "Woke Up" So, let's get to the review

Concept: 10/10: I love it and I love them. The concept is very futuristic and wolves? I have no idea but I'm buying what they're selling. That's it that's all.

Lyrics: 20/10 Can you say POWERFUL?! Ugh These lyrics are the embodiment of empowerment and the idgaf attitude and the attitude of "I woke up perfect and you're not bothering me." I love that honestly.

Beat: 10/10 It was different. I never heard anything like this before and let's be honest, that's rare these days. The lyrics and the beat and the flow of the members rapping were a lovely mesh together. This was flawless.

Visuals: 15/10 Ok ok, don't try to tussle with me but I seen the preview to this video and Cocona shaved her head! That was so cool, different, and thought provoking it really meshed with the lyrics. The "I don't care attitude; I'll do what I want." really rang true and I love that.

Overall: I can't put this song on a scale because I have no other words than GO LISTEN TO THIS SONG! If you haven't heard of XG, you will now after this review.

This song is so top tier, I have a new standard and I will now say 1-Woke Up (probably not but I'll think about it.) I do highly recommend this group and this song. These ladies are amazing and dare I say the female version of Stray Kids. So if you want to hear something new, please, please, PLEASE go listen to Woke Up by XG... you won't regret it!

Espresso- Sabrina Carpenter

Now, usually I don’t listen to Sabrina Carpenter or any former Disney channel star who does music for that matter. But I guess that all changes today. With the great success of her music career, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like what she’s releasing… ESPECIALLY this song in particular. So without further ado, let’s get started.

Concept: 10/10 I loved summer vibe of the song. It’s so fun and different to what I’ve been hearing lately.

Lyrics: 10/10 This screams Taurus. I know that cause my best friend is a Taurus and everything Sabrina is singing is exactly what she would say. (Sorry for calling you out bestie but you know it’s true) The lyrics are so fun and relatable and honestly ✨slay✨

Beat: 10/10: This beat does have a familiarity to it but doesn’t any song? I definitely can say it’s a really good sound..

Visuals: 12/10 Yes it broke the scale. Why you may ask? WELL, if you haven’t seen the video, you should. It has just the right amount of comedy, sensualness, and just summer fun. Again I’m glad she went with the concept she did with the video. It’s super fun.

Overall: 10/10 Although this song came out in April, you would be crazy not to want to listen to this song during the summer. This is a song that is meant for you and your friends. So add this song to your playlist if you haven’t!

This song is getting a 10.4/10!! If you haven’t already, go and listen to this song and add it to your playlist and play it for your friends! It is a great beach song and honestly, it’s been on repeat for me since I heard it! Sabrina, you did your thang girl, keep up the good work!

Why?- Stray Kids

Ok ok yes I know this song came out last month but I do wanna give my thoughts on this. I’m also gonna try a new method of rating things so let’s get started!

Concept: 9.9/10 why? Well for starters I’m a sucker for dark colors, chains and graffiti. It matched everything the song was going for. HOWEVER, this is the concept I thought they were gonna give us for Rockstar. So I guess I’m a little disappointed that we got this after the fact.

Lyrics: 10/10 The lyrics give “back off and let me do what I do”. To that I say, ✨slay✨. I really enjoyed the message of the song.

Beat: 10/10 I love the sound of the guitars, the base drop, adlibs, all of it. I got the grit I’ve been looking for and I’m so glad they did it.

Visuals: 0/10 I know I know not every song needs a video but I’m so sorry, I NEEDED a mv for this song. I would’ve loved to see the creativity and the concept of the song to come to life in a mv. I guess I’ll add this to the list of songs that should’ve had an mv and didn’t get one.

Overall: 10/10 If I had to choose between this song and Loose My Breath… I’m sticking with this one. Again this is because I’m not into simp behavior. That mushy gushy love isn’t on my radar and too much pop- like beats make me a lil uncomfortable. As I was saying in the beginning, I wish this would’ve been in the Rockstar album (yes I know it’s in Japanese but just like they translated Super Bowl to Japanese, they can do Why? in Korean). I guess you can say I felt robbed 🤣🤣.

I took a total of all that I was scoring and it came out to a 7.9/10 but Imma go ahead and give it an 8. Now IF and when I get a visual to this song, I’ll edit my score and give them a full 10/10… but until then….
