I am once again drawing ref sheets to procrastinate writing in my documence

#Aretta Conejo #genuinely really proud of how this is going so far #my goal is to get every character aspect roughly finalized before the end of the summer #which includes ref sheets and character bios and a bunch of back end symbolism stuff that won't all necessarilly make it into final drafts #it's also fucking wild to look back on my old doodles from before my life drawing classes because got DAMN I used to draw necks so long!!! #the most difficult thing is probably going to be stopping myself from making these ref sheets more detailed than they need to be :|

I'm actually so pissed off about the Tumblr ai situation because this site has been my home for my art for the better portion of the last five years rrrrrrrr!!!! For the sake of my livelihood I need to maintain some form of online presence to document my digital portfolio and to market myself but the entire online landscape has become oversaturated with absolute bullshit that makes me think it's genuinely not worth it to be an artist any more. I'm not in the right headspace now to look for solutions but I'll reblog when I can with where (or if) you'll be able to find me in the future. I will not be deleting any of my blogs for the time being but after I finish my piece for this year's Capchavogue zine (which I will nightshade and glaze) I don't think I will continue to post my art to Tumblr. Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me throughout my stay here. I know I never really got super popular because of my art but I met a lot of great people and I want you all to know that you've truly changed my life for the better. Here's to the triumph of the creative spirit over the sharp mechanical cogs of late stage capitalism. I hope to see you all again soon.

FAQ I get a lot: Jake what the hell?

While this question has a million and one answers, the answer in this situation is that I've started a blog to help manage content for my MSPaint Fan Adventure by the name of Hiveless. I've been brainstorming for years and I'm finally getting to the point where I can put this story into action.

The story is focused on a group of Alternian trolls trying to make it through their final sweep on the planet. They've made it this far already, what could possibly get in their way now?

Make no mistake, this is a story intended for MATURE AUDIENCES. It contains heavy themes of trauma exploration, so it will depict religion, scenes of abusive and manipulative relationships, disordered eating, substance abuse, and death of major characters including a suicide. There will also be mention of cannibalism and genocide (not depicted graphically) as well as typical homestuck levels of blood and gore and the occasional bout of partial nudity (all troll genitals will be tastefully censored by foreground objects because I really don't want to draw any of that please don't make me draw any of that).

Hiveless will contain swearing (I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a fanventure that doesn't contain swearing) but it will NOT contain any slurs. There will be specific content warnings as well as a plot summary at the beginning of each chapter, so if a chapter contains something triggering that you'd rather not see, feel free to skim the summary and skip to the next one. There will also be options to read all dialogue without typing quirks, just plain black text in sentence case.

I want to do my best to make this story accessible so if there is anything I need to change please let me know immediately. This blog is the best place to message me about any issues.

I am currently trickling out pages of the prologue, but once that's finished updates to the story will consist of a whole chapter. I don't trust myself to release them consistently so stay tuned in to this blog for progress updates and announcements.
