I wonder what's up with Ruben's other band members. I mean, if Ruben only starting shifting to emo music after spring break of last year, then that means My Clerical Gnomance could only be like a couple months old by the time of Frosty Faire. Not only that, one of their FIRST SONGS was a breakout hit and became the song of the summer.
Did Ruben know these guys beforehand and when Ruben had his sudden change in aesthetic were like "ok, guess we're doing this now". Or are these relative strangers brought in by Lola Embers to aid a rising star? Are they even friends?
And how did they get so popular in the first place?? Fig only got popular in sophomore year I think, meanwhile Ruben changes his whole style and becomes an instant success?

I think the reason why D20 sticks to 5e or more rules light systems is that if Emily Axford ever got into a game as modular as Pathfinder 2e or god forbid GURPS she’d produce a build so powerful it’d shatter space and time

brennan lee mulligan: bobby dawn is a southern televangelist for a bigoted religion who's gonna teach religion at a school with kids who work from tons of different denominations where he's gonna hold borderline sermons in class, triggering deep religious trauma from students, take away aid that's been given to neurodivergent students, fail students on personal grounds, and ignore a teenager breaking down crying in his office over something he did
us: wow he's the worst. he literally can't get any worse
brennan lee mulligan, about to reveal that he's also a groomer: hohoho

listen i know that in this exact episode that brennan lee mulligan explicitly says that gilear is not cursed so i know this wasn't planned but in Havoc at the Hotel Cavalier (SY 3), the demons sensed something about Giear that made them attack him instead of Fabian. The demons are working to bring back the Nightmare King, not Cassandra. And Gilear is a direct descendant of Athenriel/Bakur who was actively trying to bring Ankarna back sometime in the past decade or two. So what I'm saying is that they saw him and sensed his connection to Bakur and went "this loser might mention the Nightmare King's hot lesbian wife and ruin everything"

Sam to Zelda:
"You sort of like meet people when they're together and you just sort of expect them to stay that way no matter what happens."
If Zelda and Gorgug are broken up and Zelda hasn't told anyone in her adventuring party, this line is brutal. Then like less than a minute later Zelda says:
"...Even the things that are like in your life that weren't great, you still might've relied on them and had them be familiar. I get it."
Now Zelda is talking about Sam's relationship with the Everpetals, her surrogate parents. But the revelation that she and Gorgug are broken up really re-contextualizes Zelda tagging it with "I get it." Because now I read that as Zelda talking about her and Gorgug's relationship.
Her relationship with Gorgug probably wasn't going great, and they were growing apart but she and Gorgug had been together for over a year, so it was familiar and she did rely on it because of course parts of it were simple—he understands she's got to adventure, he understands her rage, he's been with her during a lot of shit, and he's a good guy, but they're young and growing up and going in different directions (like does Gorgug pushing further into Artificer contribute to the distance between them or is his focus on Artificer partially a reaction to their breakup?) so it had to be terrible for her. Just terrible and it changes things in The Seven.
I don't know if Brennan knew Zelda and Gorgug wouldn't be together in Junior Year when they did The Seven, but regardless there are moments that become heartbreaking nonetheless.

beverlin will always be THAT BITCH to me. like. it’s the duality of being in love with the chosen one and being in love as the chosen one. it’s the both of them saying “he’s too good for me.”
like erlin will never be as strong or brave or significant as Beverly. he isn’t the one who killed the gods or the devils, he isn’t the one time was reset for over and over, he isn’t the one who saved the world. he was just one of the pawns on the board, the body on the altar. loving a hero of the realm casts a hell of a shadow. your hands must seem so small against his. how are you supposed to deal with that? when you’ve never been good with a sword, when all you do is give yourself over to other people?
and bev’s love is dangerous, because power is a magnet for risk. you kidnap lois lane because she doesn’t punch as hard as superman. you lock erlin in a crystal because the heart of a hero is the only part that’s flesh. there’s always a prison gem or an eternal damnation, and bev can’t shake it off. he’ll never be able to just sit one out because part of being important is that the personal things aren’t anymore, part of being important is that you never really get to go home. you don’t stop moving, something always needs to be saved, someone always has to intervene. your life isn’t your own. a hero is selfless. he puts himself aside.
bev walks, erlin trails. erlin rests and bev has to stay on his feet. it’s this inherent distance that they didn’t ask for, that they can only bridge if they really mean it, right? but it works. it works because they love each other. because they’re wrong when they say “he’s too good for me.” because and angel needs the ground when his wings are failing. and a cleric needs something to worship.

Kristen meeting up with her parents in Krom's Diner is funny to me because it conjures the image of Sandra Lynn, Jawbone, and Lydia watching through a Mordred window with binoculars making sure that nothing bad happens
