I FORGOT I FORGOT TO ELABORATE . On that Juni art,,, Sorry guys lemme just

Obviously I need to polish it and there's plot holes the size of arkansas but. Well it's just for fun. AU where Juni never got his big break as an actor,, he's struggling to find work but he's holding onto his dream with an iron fist. No WAY is he giving it up, not for anything... although he has to find some other sources of income along the way maybe. That part's not so important what is important is...

One day he's contacted by a mysterious person. A mysterious person who offers him a role, in an experimental production that, quite frankly, could be the best opportunity he could get in his life! A once in a lifetime opportunity! And he's skeptical. Of course hes skeptical, he has common sense!

...but it doesn't take much to convince him. It's what he's wanted for most of his life, after all. And the person who contacted him is convincing!

...so...

John takes the role. It's a strange one - a lot of improvisation, it's supposed to be some kind of... full immersion sort of thing. Every scene is filmed in a single take, he cannot break character or he's out, and he's expected to do his own stunts. But he's assured, over and over, that everything is going as planned and he's the only one who could possibly do this role so perfectly, he's the perfect man for the job, blah blah blah. So he goes along with it!

He's playing the villain - or maybe the anti-hero, in an interesting story centred around him, and he's told only the bare bones of each scene before he films them. He's told they want authentic reactions, his brilliant improvisation has a chance to shine, on and on, and he's doubtful but god, it's good. Everything is going off without a hitch!

...until... his 'antagonist' shows up. Some mysterious figure he can barely see from a distance, who quickly and efficiently starts unravelling 'his schemes'. He hadn't been told ahead of time ("to get his authentic reacton," they soothe him later) and it's a shock but he manages to smooth over the initial bump in his plans swiftly after his initial surprise and the show goes on - it's all improv, but he thinks he did rather well! The only problem is... everything, despite the movie-typical absurdity, felt a little... too real.

He dismisses it, of course. There's no way he's letting go of this role - this is his chance at stardom! But as the scenes progress everything starts to feel a little less like fiction, a script, and more like he's been thrown headfirst into real danger, and maybe he doesn't know as much about his benefactors as he'd thought...

Or; Juni is hired for one of Zor's evil schemes as a pawn... but he doesn't know it yet. (And, of course, the Agency has no idea he doesn't even know.)

#10. What's an au you have for them?

Since them meeting at all is technically an AU i have 3 different ways that they do meet up. There's the one where Juniper ends up with the agency/adjacent to and ends up working with Reggie (have written a fic with this). The next one is Juniper surviving but basically going stealth and living as normal of a life as he can and ending up meeting Reggie through chance (most recent fic I've written). And then there's my personal favourite where Reginald "You're lucky my tracking skills are still up to snuff" Crane keeping himself busy after Phoenix was MIA and finding Juniper still alive (fic I want to write but haven't started mainly because it may end up multi chapter).

In terms of more AU canon bending taking them and putting them in a completely unrelated situation...I have a guilty pleasure Warrior Cats AU for IEYTD in general. Both JJ and Reggie have perfect warrior cats suffixes in their names already (Juniper and Crane) so they're called Junipersong (charcoal bengal) and Craneflight (tabby Norwegian forest cat). It's very silly but the amount of scenes I have in my mind for it...good lord...

Augh my friend Imp wrote an absolutely excellent fic about it (tragically in the realm of unfinished Google docs) and I'm shaking their hand about it so hard. Basically Juniper kissing Reggie but he like wasn't ready/fully expecting it and Juniper absolutely panicking because he thinks he's misread every interaction between them both since they got closer. The second one is much sweeter though,,

zor and pheonix swap bodies. what happens?

(for a possibly less chaotic choice, its handler and zor)

I assume a race to dismantle their respective operations from inside either via wanton violence and arson, clever thought out strategies or just exposing each other's organisations, or some other equally devastating course of action.

(Okay this turned longer than I expected so I'm just gonna put the rest under a cut here.)

And I mean like depending on if it's long term or short term body swap there's a lotta stuff that could happen differently? The good doctor could certainly set up some... clever plan to unravel all of the Agency without risking their own exposure or whatever, but it would take time and resources to set up, so possibly they just collect vital intel for later use? Actually you could probably make an intriguing story out of "Phoenix and Zor wake up in each others' body - and they are forced to act as each other to avoid exposure" and whatnot. Like. Stepping into your greatest enemy's shoes...

Of course the fun part isn't that, like, they "learn how hard the other one has it" and "grow a new appreciation for each other" no those two would absolutely kill each other with Zero hesitation given the means motive and opportunity. Like yes Dr. Zor tends to not directly kill Phoenix, just. Death traps. I'm somewhat sure they even banned Juni from taking the Agent out while he had them unconscious? Don't quote me on that I have terrible memory abilities anyway what I was saying was they might prefer to toy with Phoenix but they still want them dead and if the Agent was right in front of them they would pull that trigger no hesitation, especially because the Agent would very likely be gunning for them, too. So. No hesitation there's no fondness between them. Or at least nothing to outweigh the desire to see the other dead.

Okay that ramble out of the way - the only reason they don't walk that borrowed body off a cliff is 1. It would kill them too, 2. They have the opportunity to royally screw the other's life up, annnd 3. The other guy (presumably) has their body and can royally screw them up, too. Which is a problem that they need to deal with. So what do they do? Consider it undercover work, I suppose. Plus, no better way to get to know your enemy than being your enemy, right?

Oh the wonderful chaos of "infamous secret agent forced to act as an evil mastermind" and vice versa. They might get a little lucky in that I assume the Doc has things set up to mostly flow smoothly without them, and Phoenix is already so strange that Zor being a lil weird might slip under the radar... problems arise in that Reg knows Phoenix, and Zor is still needed for resolving the petty conflicts and snags in the plans, of course - nothing can just be that easy...

Also, Zor and Reg swapping wouldn't necessarily be less chaotic. The Handler has just as much of a grudge against Zoraxis as Phoenix does, was definitely about as chaotic as them in his field days, and probably definitely wouldn't pass up the opportunity to tear Zoraxis down entirely from the very core. Then there's the issue of Reggie being a decently important Agency employee as we know, which means he might have some sway in the organisation - you think Zor wouldn't abuse the hell out of that?
