#when I graduated vet school I started on AUD$45000 'full-time' salary - converted to USD this well and truly qualifies#(also meaning that's all I got paid for but worked a HELL of a lot more due to on-call -#and the employment award at the time stipulating that we accept doing an undefined “reasonable” amount of unpaid overtime)#(which naturally my employers abused all to hell)#and not only do vets have 4-8 times the suicide rate of the general public (depending on the study parameters)#but I know at least 1 of Australia's vet school hospitals has workplace procedures where someone conducts a regular patrol of the clinic#to find if someone has committed suicide in one of the rooms#(I have the newspaper article this was reported in saved somewhere on my computer)#but hey a CEO who can retire on what they're paid after a single year feels a bit stressed sometimes#let me get my violin#like they truly think no-one can understand their reality when they have NO FUCKING IDEA#(I'm not dismissing the stress and trauma of [other] front-line customer service jobs for even lower wages either)#(it's just an added bonus that my trauma and low pay also incurred 5 years of university debt for the privilege)

Pride was originally a riot. It's not supposed to be "family-friendly". Those who want family-friendly LGBT spaces are free to just create them. Take places that are already family-friendly and make them LGBT-friendly also. If you don't want to do that, then that's why Pride is still necessary.
