@taylorswift @taylornation give over your social media platforms to Black activists for at least a day so they can spread the message and use your incredibly huge platform for good.

votings definitely important but i thought i’d point out minnesota has a democratic governor, democratic attorney general, and democratic senators also minneapolis has a democratic mayor, democratic representative....so votings isn’t an end all be all solution to years of systemic racism and you can’t make it out to be that simple

I’m going to say it and it may be a controversial opinion but so be it. I wish there was more talk about black people who are disabled being mistreated or killed by police. There are so many cases of police brutality that get shoved under the rug simply because the victims were disabled. ALMOST HALF THE PEOPLE KILLED BY POLICE HAVE A DISABILITY.
Stephon Watts, 15, was a young autistic man who loved fixing computers & watching YouTube in the basement of his home. He was shot to death by police after they responded to a dispute in home.
Ezell Ford, 25, was the oldest of seven children, he loved playing basketball. He had depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. He was shot by police in 2014 while walking by his home in south Los Angeles.
Tanisha Anderson, 37, was a mother with bipolar disorder and heart disease. She dreamed of being a broadcast journalist. She was shot outside of her home where she lived with her 16 year old daughter and mother.
Freddie Gray, 25, loved to play football and basketball. He had a developmental disability. His friends called him “Pepper.”
The list could go on a mile long sadly. Just remember to #SayTheirNames the next time you remember victims of police brutality. Please join in on the conversation on Twitter using the hashtag #BlackDisabledLivesMatter

@taylorswift i love you and I’m disappointed to not see you on the list of influencial white women handing over their social media accounts to Black women voices tomorrow, June 10, as part of #ShareTheMicNow. This is a very simple and impactful way you can make a significant difference in our present moment. You still have until tomorrow to reconsider and invite a Black womxn to use your microphone!

okay final thoughts on swift silence gate but seeing how much taylor had to say about her masters and money and unfairness in her industry vs. how little she has to say now makes me think we really shouldve listened to her when she said “i wish i was strong enough to lift not one but both of us” risjghdfg

@taylorswift PLEASE AMPLIFY BLACK VOICES. There are so many things you can do! You can:
retweet from black activists
share on your socials any books you’re reading to educate yourself on systemic racism and police brutality
have black activists take over your Instagram page
do Instagram lives with black activists to have productive conversations about white privilege, intersectionalism, racism, and police brutality
share petition and donation links
continue to share articles you’ve been reading authored by black voices
and even match donations to encourage people to donate!
These aren’t the only things you can do, so please listen to your black fans and black activists to learn more about how to be an effective ally!

yes, voting could potentially make a difference, but there is stuff we can do now before the elections in november. voting blue is a start, but definitely not the only thing. signing petitions, going to protests, talking to friends and family, educating yourself and others, etc. are just a few ways you can start to make a difference right now. four hundred years of institutionalized racism is not going to change by voting trump out.
