AITA for getting drunk and almost kissing a girl?

I (28M) needed to get the attention of an alcoholic (?M) who likes parties so I could get a meeting with a VIP about some vital business.

I decided to get drunk with my (F, around my age) friend to get his attention. We had been drinking casually with some friends before that but they were all gone or asleep by this point. I drank a little less than my friend because I needed to keep my wits about me for the meeting. After drinking too much, we almost kissed but it didn't happen because the alcoholic arrived in time.

I thought this was no big deal because the 'vital business' justifies the means.

...But I kind of blew off this guy (28M) to get drunk with her. This guy is kind of my partner (not romantic?) and we'd agreed he could beat me up that night. But when I didn't show my partner went looking for me and saw me in a compromising position with my friend.

Now he's being passive aggressive because he apparently wants to punch me THAT bad. And one of my friends asked me if I took advantage of my female friend (I would never). I DIDNT EVEN KISS HER WHY IS EVERYONE MAD AT ME.
