Day 30 - 10/3/19
Today, I woke up after sleeping better than normal, probably due to my weighted blanket. I scrolled through Instagram and Twitter to catch up on all of the unimportant things that happened while I was asleep before actually getting up, and noticed Tyler was awake and watching Breaking Bad. I got up, got dressed, and drank some roasted corn and peppers soup from Trader Joe’s since I remembered I had it and it might be a slightly better breakfast than a granola bar. I grabbed a granola bar just in case anyway though. I grabbed my juul and juuled my way to the bus stop. My bus was running late, so I sat on my phone texting the bus stop, frantically wondering when it would get there. Eventually it showed up, an I took it to my next bus stop. I texted the stop, and it turns out I had missed the second bus since my first one was late. The next one wasn’t for 20 minutes, so I had to walk to class. I walked the 13 min to class while juuling, and got to class.
When i got to class I sat down, listened to lecture, and used my computer to work on my homework. After class. I started walking to the bus stop. I texted the stop and realized I had a bit of time before the bus, so I decided to stop by the Student Center and grab some food. I picked up some Philadelphia rolls (sushi) for $7.95, and started walking to the bus stop again. I know some people hate cream cheese in sushi and say it’s not authentic, but I really like it. Most sushi in America isn’t really authentic anyway, so I don’t see the problem. As I was walking, I saw a line of people and tents out in the grass. It was a grill out for homecoming week, and they were giving out free food. I had seen the line when I was walking to class, and I was frustrated because I JUST BOUGHT FOOD because I didn’t think they’d still be out there once I was out of class. I texted my bus stop and decided I probably had enough time to wait in line, and I’d take the next bus. I can’t turn down free food, so I waited in the a little too long line. I spun a wheel and got a free U of M rally rag, then got a peanut butter Insomia Cookie, a Snowberry flavored Peace Tea, a burger (that was disappointingly thin), and I picked up a veggie burger patty too because I wanted to try it. As I walked to the bus stop, I demolished the burger, and tried the veggie patty. It was really bland and the texture was not good, so I threw it away when I got to the bus stop. I haaate food waste and I felt horrible about it, but I had no way to save the patty and I knew I wasn’t going to eat it. I knew I shouldn’t have taken it, but my eyes are always bigger than my stomach, and I really was hoping it’d be good. The bus came, I took it to work, and I went inside.
At work, I packed orders, and used my computer to update product pages. I charged my computer, and drank my Peace Tea. The flavor was a little offsetting - what is “snowberry” supposed to taste like? It was kind of blueberry, kind of iced tea, and kind of weird. I also ate my sushi. I stayed at work a little too long because I felt obligated to try and get as much done as I could, and then had Tyler come pick me up because I had to do a photography assignment while there was still daylight. We drove home listening to 93X, and I made him stop a couple times so I could take pictures. Once we got home, I went outside and ran around talking pictures for my assignment. I feel like people were looking at me a bit weird while I was taking pictures, but I had to get my shit done. It got cold and my camera started not taking good pictures because it was too dark, so I went back inside. When I got inside, I ate a mini shredded chicken quesadilla from taco bell from the fridge that Tyler had eaten the day before, and put taco bell sauce on it. I then panicked about my assignment and used my computer to edit and upload my pictures before scrolling through Instagram for a while because I’m addicted to it before going to sleep.

Day 29 - 10/2/19
Today, I woke up super tired from only getting 4 hours of sleep. I got up, checked when the bus was coming, and went back to sleep for 10 min. When I woke back up, I woke up Tyler and asked if he could drive me to class. He said yes if I made him coffee, so I laid around scrolling through social media for a while longer before getting up and making some Nescafe Taster’s Choice instant coffee with some sugar in it. Thank god for the scientists who created instant coffee, allowing us to get coffee quickly and conveniently. I got ready, used a Scotch lint roller to get all the cat hair off my leggings, and grabbed an Aldi’s brand granola bar before we headed out the door. Tyler drove me as close to my class as he could, and I got out and walked to class, juuling. I got to class, messaged my friend on Snapchat and scrolled through social media before lecture started because that’s what everyone else was doing too, and then listened to lecture and took notes. We had group work time in class, so I used my computer, Google Drive, and Google to work on things. After class, I saw signs up for a “happening now” donuts with the director of journalism event thing. I’m always down for a free donut, so I decided to stop in and pretend to be interested in the potential renovation plans for Murphy Hall. I got a glazed donut, and entered a drawing for a prize I didn’t really look at. I really just wanted to get the donut and leave, but I didn’t want to seem rude so I had to follow along with the cultural expectation that I should appear interested.
I decided to call Tyler and see if there was any food he wanted from Coffman since he so nicely drove me to work in the morning. He said I didn’t have to do that and didn’t give me a clear answer, so I just got a Chick Fil A spicy chicken sandwich and a thing of spicy salmon sushi for $10.84 because I know he likes them and felt like I should thank him for being so nice. I grabbed 4 packets of sauces, put everything in a bag, and took the bus back to my apartment. Once there, I ate a third of the chicken sandwich and half of the sushi, and left the rest for Tyler. I also ate two chocolate truffles. My plan was to take a nap, but I realized it was light out and I should probably work on my photography assignment. I grabbed my camera, and walked around the block taking pictures of things until it started to downpour. I picked three flowers to take pictures with later, and juuled my way back to my apartment. Once back, I used my computer to work on a group assignment, and scrolled through social media. I checked what time the bus was coming by texting the stop, and eventually left for my next class. I got there, listened to lecture, and took notes. We had small group presentations as well, so I listened to those more intently because I was grateful that I didn’t present and I wanted to pay attention to those who actually had to do it.
After class, I had to go to work for our monthly Open Mic. I texted the bus stop and saw I had 17 minutes til the bus, and checked my email and found I had won one of the drawings from the event earlier. I decided I had enough time to run back to Murphy hall and grab the prize, which was a U of M umbrella and a mug. The umbrella came in handy as I didn’t grab my umbrella and had been running around letting the rain soak my jacket all day. I realized I was hungry and had even more time, so I went back to Coffman and got a small Vanilla Blue Sky smoothie at Jamba Juice for $5.69 because it was a new flavor I hadn’t tried before. I drank it, then got on the bus to go to work. On the bus, I used social media to message my friends and to scroll through. I also played iMessage games. At work, I spent 2.5 hrs listening to people rapping their own music. At one point the bathroom was full, so I went to use the one upstairs. There were peanut butter filled pretzels out on the table, so I grabbed a plate full of them and a bag of mixed nuts for later. I ate all of the pretzels, and had to throw away the plate, which was sad given how much time I actually used it for. After the Open Mic I cleaned up the store, and caught the bus home. I chose a different bus than usual because it got back faster, even though I had to walk 13 minutes home in the end. Once I got home, Tyler heated me up two Aldi’s brand artichoke and cheese lasagna rolls, and put a creamy tomato basil sauce from Trader Joe’s on them. I also put a bunch of extra artichoke pieces on it. I ate it, two truffles, and an almond butter mini snickers while scrolling through social media before trying to do my homework. I wasted a few hours chatting with my friends on iMessage and scrolling through social media before I was able to do so. I did some homework, and then took a sip of some roasted corn and pepper soup from Trader Joes before pulling out my weighted blanket since it’s finally getting colder out, and going to sleep.

Day 28 - 10/1/19
Today I woke up to my alarm, and then fell back asleep for 10 minutes before getting up for real. I got dressed, grabbed my things, opened the fridge to look for something to eat, remembered that a bunch of our food went bad, so I settled on an Aldi’s brand granola bar before running out of the house. I juuled at the bus stop, and caught the 3 bus to the 87 bus to the St Paul Student Center, juuling whenever I wasn’t on the bus. I scrolled through Instagram and Twitter while on the bus as well. I then walked to class, and used my computer during work time. We got out of class a bit early, so I walked to the St Paul Student Center, and got some California roll sushi for $5.45 because I needed something I could get fast I walked to the bus stop and didn’t eat the sushi because I had to go fast, and took the bus to work.
At work, I managed a photo shoot for new merch pics to put up on our website. I used a pad of paper and pen to keep track of what we were doing, and it ended up taking 3 hours. We had lights on to help with the lighting as well. Once it was over, everyone left to go get lunch. I stayed behind and ate my sushi, and grabbed a water bottle to drink. I took a breather and juuled for a while because people say nicotine helps calm them down. It doesn’t really do that for me, but I decided to try it because I was feeling really manic. I then used my computer to update merch counts, and fulfilled some orders. When I was done I took the bus home.
At home, I heated up two spinach artichoke lasagna rolls from Aldi’s, and put some Trader Joes creamy tomato basil sauce on them. I then sat down and used my computer to do some homework. I got incredibly distracted for HOURS though by my phone, scrolling through Instagram and Twitter, and playing iMessage games with my friend. I really wanted to do my homework, but I kept getting pulled back in by my phone, which is exactly what these apps are designed to do. I ended up having to stay up pretty late to finish my homework, and then went to sleep.

Day 27 - 9/30/19
Today I woke up, scrolled through social media on my phone, grabbed all my things, and left without eating. I got a ride to class, so I used more gas than I would have on public transportation. I was dropped off, and walked to class (and got there a few minutes late). In class we had a guest speaker, so I listened to their lecture and took notes on pen and paper. After class, I was super tired, so I decided to go home instead of sitting on campus for 3 hours before my next class. When I got home, I mixed a can of Aldi’s chicken salad with some mayo, added black pepper, and ate it. I used my computer to do some homework, and eventually got tired, so I was going to take a nap but got stuck scrolling through Instagram and watching Facebook videos sleepily. These apps are designed to keep you on them, and it definitely worked. I just kept finding content to watch, so I kept watching it. I texted the bus stop and saw one bus coming at 2:07 PM, and one at 2:18, and I figured the 2:18 one would be fine and would allow me to watch more videos. I eventually got up and went to the bus stop, and my bus was late. I frantically texted the stop a million time, considered walking bus stayed because I figured it was maybe just running late, considered taking a Lime scooter but didn’t want to pay for it, so I just stood and anxiously waited. The bus showed up around 2:30 (when my second class started), and I took it to the stop and walked to class. I made it to class, sat down, listened to lecture, and took notes on pen and paper.
After class I walked straight to the bus stop, and took the bus home. When I got back, I ate 3 chocolate truffles. I mentioned to Tyler that I had tried Taco Bell’s toasted cheddar chalupa yesterday, and that it was really good. Tyler said he was hungry, and asked if I wanted to go to Taco Bell so he could try it. I said sure, and he said he would pay for it if I drove there. I don’t need him to pay for my things for me, but I agreed because while I did want food, I didn’t feel like paying for it because I have been buying food so often since this blog started. I drove to Taco Bell, we got our chalupas, and we drove home listening to 93X. I ate my chalupa with an excessive amount of taco bell sauce, and started on my homework. I used my computer, and paper and pen.
After a while, Tyler said he was hungry and asked if I wanted chicken nuggets if he made some. I said I was fine, but once he made them I ate one anyway. I continued working on my homework and periodically getting distracted by Instagram, and got hungry after a while. We didn’t have much I wanted to eat, but Tyler suggested ramen since he was still hungry. We couldn’t decide between beef maruchan ramen and a spicy asian ramen, so we made both to share. We ate both bowls, and I finished my homework before getting really tired and going to sleep.

Day 26 - 9/29/19
Today I got up, and decided I had enough time to take a shower before my coworker picked me up for work. I did that, grabbed a Sunbelt chocolate chip granola bar, and got picked up. We listened to music on Spotify in the car. My coworker brought me a purple gatorade thinking I might be hungover, and I drank that. We got to work, I got the store ready for open, and started planning social media stuff for the week on my computer. I opened the store, and continued using my camera, phone, and computer to make social media posts. I also juuled quite a bit.
I got hungry pretty fast because I didn’t eat my granola bar, and my coworker and I decided to get pizza. We chose Dominos because it’s right down the street, and we could just do pick up instead of delivery. We got one medium pizza with pepperoni and banana peppers. I meant to pay for it because I owe him, but he paid for it before I remembered. He went and picked up the pizza, and we ate it. All day our hip hop Spotify playlist was playing in the store, and we were listening to various music on YouTube in the back. It was a really slow day and hardly anyone came in, so I spent a lot of time on my computer. Other than that the day was pretty normal.
After work, we went outside and smoked a Turkish Royal cigarette. We got in the car, and he drove me home while we listened to music on Spotify and juuled. Once we got to my apartment we talked for a while, and decided to watch some serial killer videos by Jim Can’t Swim on YouTube. We got through a few before my stomach started rumbling. I really didn’t want to spend money on food, but he eventually convinced me to go to Taco Bell. We drove there listening to Fall Out Boy, and I saw that they had new toasted cheddar chalupas on their sign in the drive through. I decided to try one because that sounded good and I am prone to listening to advertising, and David got a 5 layer burrito because that’s what I got last time and he liked it. I paid for both since he was nice enough to drive me and bought pizza, and it was $6.88. We drove back to my place listening to Fall Out Boy, and ate our food while watching more Jim Can’t Swim videos on YouTube. We watched like 3, which is like 3 hours of videos. It was getting late, so I eventually went inside, drank some water, scrolled through social media on my phone, and went to sleep.

Day 25 - 9/28/19
Today, I woke up at 7 am to drop my kitten off at the vet to get neutered. We drove there listening to 93X, dropped him off, and I paid $33.86 for his pain medicine and cone he would need afterwards, the rest was covered under his health care plan we’ve already paid for. I also picked up three little packets wet cat food to put his medicine in for $3.18. We drove back home and went back to sleep for a few more hours. I woke back up, and went with my parents to my brother’s cross country race at the U of M. We drove there listening to The Current, and I scrolled through social media and texted my friends. When we got there, my parents paid to get in, but I got in free since I’m a U of M student. We spent a few hours there watching the runs, and I took some pictures. After that, we walked back to the car and drove home listening to The Current. When we got home, my kitten was done, so Tyler and I drove and picked him up. He had his cone on, and he was still hyper as ever, We drove him back home and spent some time playing with him and making sure he was okay. I ate some chicken casserole my mom made for lunch as well.
My parents were going to a demolition derby of sorts with their friends, and invited Tyler and I to come along. We said sure, and drove with them to Elko Speedway for “The Eve of Destruction”. My parents paid for our tickets and had a BOGO coupon, and we met up with their friends. We went to the bar, and I got a Twisted Tea for myself and a PBR for Tyler for $11. We sat around drinking them before Tyler got hungry, and we bought a chicken strip basket for $6. Tyler paid in cash. We loaded up on a ton of pickles because they were free as well, and went to our seats. Here’s a video from the event: https://youtu.be/UMHvGNgoV8o. We watched it and had a great time. I went and bought a screwdriver for $8 with cash, and Tyler got another beer. We kept watching, they destroyed some stuff, and I bought another Twisted Tea.
After a while, Tyler and I decided to split one more Twisted Tea before we left. I had never had one before today, but I had seen them in the store and always been curious about them. I decided there was no time like the present to try one, and they turned out to be really good! I had also heard people tlak about them before, which also made me interested in them. The show ended, and they lit off some fireworks. We all walked back to the car, and my dad drove us home. When we got home, I already had a buzz going so Tyler and I drank some Smirnoff Vodka because it was all we had. We didn’t have any good chasers in my parents house, so we opted to use Coca Cola because my dad drinks it and that’s all that was around. We ate some more chicken casserole, and watched America’s Book of Secrets on Netflix until we fell asleep.

Day 24 - 9/27/19
Today I woke up super early for my 8:30 am class, made myself a water bottle of Nestle Taster’s Choice instant coffee, grabbed an Aldi’s brand granola bar, and walked to the bus stop. I took the 3 bus to the 124 campus connector, and went to class. I absorbed the lecture and took notes with pen and paper, and used my computer to learn about Adobe Lightroom in class. The class ran 15 minutes over, but I stayed because it was important information and I figured it would be okay. When I got out, I watched the 121 campus connector go right past me, but I figured another one would come soon. One showed up earlier than expected, and I took it to my second stop. Here’s where things got FUN :) I was sitting in the bus shelter waiting for my bus. A campus connector pulled up to the stop, and my bus pulled up behind it. I walked up to the door, and waited for the driver to open the door. She started pulling forward though, and I assumed it was because the connector took off and she was going to pull up to the actual bus stop because they do that sometimes, but instead she drove away without me. I used my phone to text the bus stop, and waited for the next one. I’ve never had a problem with sitting in the shelter because the buses usually can see you / stop, but a SECOND BUS I NEEDED PULLED UP AND PULLED AWAY WITHOUT ME after I waited for it. Another bus going to my work came, but it takes a way longer route so I decided to not take it. The next bus didn’t come for a while, and I had already texted my manager saying I was going to be late, so I decided to bite the bullet and take a Lyft to work. I checked Uber as well, but Lyft was cheaper.
I was fuming angry, so I ordered my lyft quickly and waited for it to arrive. When I ordered it, I assumed that GPS had picked up my correct pick up location. I didn’t notice until 5 min before my driver “arrived” though that lyft had placed my GPS location in the completely wrong spot. I tried a million times to contact the driver, but he “couldn’t answer because he was driving”. I tried to cancel the ride, but it was going to charge me $5 to cancel since he was so close. I hesitated and waited, and the driver “arrived at the pick up location” and still would not answer my texts or calls. I tried to cancel the ride, but I couldn’t. I had to sit and watch the timer of when I had to be in the car by count down, and accepted the fact I’d just have to pay the $5. Luckily, lyft recognized there was an issue with my pick up somehow (maybe because the driver never answered my million calls), and waived my $5 fee. I ordered a new lyft, and took it to work. I got there only a little bit later than I had said I would, so it was okay, just very stressful. It did make me think about how lucky I am that lyft exists though, otherwise I would have been incredibly late.
I got to work, and my coworker knew I was having a bad day, so he asked if I wanted Five Guys. I said yes, and he went out and got a burger for me with my card for $6.79. I ate the whole thing and it was delicious. I used post-it notes at work to write down things I needed to do, and my phone and camera to make and schedule posts for social media. Work was work as normal, and after work my coworker gave me a ride home from work. We listened to grandson on Spotify on the way back because he’s the only artist I care to listen to lately, and sat around and talked for a while before I went inside. I packed my stuff to head to Woodbury, grabbed my cat because he’s getting neutered tomorrow, and Tyler and I drove to Woodbury listening to 93X. The highway was closed everywhere so we had to take a ton of detours and use Google Maps and it took forever. Eventually we got home, I did my homework on my computer, and we watched the new episode of the Great British Baking Show on Netflix before going to sleep.

Day 23 - 9/26/19
Today, I did the same thing I always do: woke up, scrolled through social media because I didn’t want to wake up yet, and used Snapchat to send pictures of my sleeping kitten to my friends. I got up, ate a hardboiled egg, and got ready. I grabbed an Aldi’s brand granola bar on my way out the door, and juuled on my way to the bus stop. I took the bus to the 124 campus connector, and walked to McNeal Hall. In class, I listened to the reading presentation and lecture, and then used my computer to work on my assignments. After class, I went to the St. Paul Student Center. I knew I had quite a bit to do at work and didn’t want to wait in the line for Subway, so I decided to get sushi instead. I got a pack of California rolls for $5.45 because they were the cheapest and honestly the best looking ones. I bought them, and walked to the bus stop. I was hungry, so I ate them all on the way even though I would have rather sat and put soy sauce on them. When I got to the bus stop, I threw away the plastic enclosure, as well as the soy sauce packet.
I waited for the bus by scrolling through Twitter, and then got on the bus and went to work. At work, I listened to an EDM playlist on Spotify while packing orders with paper, tape, shipping supplies, etc. I had to call the Post Office, so I used my phone while charging it and my computer. I also took a water bottle. After work, I took the bus to the Post Office, dropped off some packages, and took the bus home. I scrolled through social media while on the bus as always. When I got home, I watched some YouTube videos and cleaned up my apartment a bit because my dad was stopping by to drop off a hard drive for me. He stopped by, and after I got the hard drive we decided to go out for dinner. We started driving through Dinkytown listening to The Current trying to decide where to go, when I thought of Surly. We drove there, and somehow found parking in the busy parking lot.
We went upstairs to their pizza place, and we each got a personal pizza. It was around $12 per pizza, but my dad paid for them both. You can’t go to Surly without getting beer as well, so my dad spent another about $12 getting me a Surly First Avenue +1 beer, and whichever beer he decided to get. We stayed there eating and talking, and didn’t realize they were also hosting The Office Trivia Night. Neither of us know much about the office, so we stayed for about half of the trivia before deciding to head out. My dad drove me back, we listened to The Current because that’s what he likes to listen to, and he dropped me back off at my apartment. I went inside and had 3 truffles before sitting down to do my homework on the computer and go on my phone before going to sleep.

Day 22 - 9/25/19
Today, I woke up and scrolled through Instagram because I didn’t want to get up yet. Once I finally got up, I took a Zicam gummy because I’m finally starting to accept I might be sick, and ate a hard boiled egg for breakfast before heading out the door because it was fast. I juuled on my way to the bus stop because that’s just what I do, and took the bus to my class. I scrolled through social media and used Snapchat on the bus as well. Before class started I wrote down my speaker notes on a sheet in my notebook. In class I gave my presentation, consumed the lecture, watched a video, and took notes, and afterwards went to Coffman for lunch.
I decided to try out the new burger place like I wanted to before, so I got a hamburger with cheese for $6.28. It came with a pickle, and I put ketchup and BBQ sauce on it before taking a few napkins. I ate it and it was actually delicious. It came in a little cardboard boat thing that I was happy I could throw in the composts bin instead of the trash. I then found a place to sit next to an outlet, and charged my phone while doing my homework. I realized I saved a plastic water bottle from work, and filled it up at the water fountain. I then walked to my next class, and listened to the lecture, took notes, and turned in a pop quiz on a piece of paper. I then walked to the bus stop and took the bus home while scrolling through social media.
When I got home, I took another Zicam because the bottle says you can take them every 3 hours and I’m really trying to not be sick. I decided I was hungry, so I heated up a Trader Joe's Stacked Eggplant Parmesan frozen meal in the microwave. I ate it, and an artichoke heart. Tyler and then decided to take our younger kitten out for his first walk. We grabbed his harness and leash, and drove to Thomas Wirth park, listening to 93X and 95.3 on the radio, and using Google Maps. We parked, my kitten ran around, we smoked a cigarette, and then we went to head home. I had a coupon for a free jr frosty, so we stopped at Wendy’s and I got a chocolate Jr Frosty to celebrate actually going outside and kind of exercising. When we got home I was still hungry, so I ate half an avocado because it was finally ripe. I sat and did my homework, and then Tyler asked if I wanted any chicken nuggets because he was making some. I said yes because I was hungry, and ate 4. My head hurt a bit from being sick, but I don’t want to be someone who takes pain meds a lot, so I avoided taking an Advil. I also ate three chocolate truffles because I was craving some chocolate. I watched this hour long video for my online class, and midway through Tyler said he was still hungry. I said if he made food I’d eat some, so he made a frozen Indian meal and some naan. He ate a bit before saying he was full, so I ate the rest, finished my video, and went to bed.

Day 21 - 9/24/19
Today, I woke up to my kitten laying on my face. I opened Snapchat and sent a bunch of pictures to my friends, and scrolled through Instagram for a bit before I only had 10 min left to get my stuff and go. I downed a glass of water, took a gummy Zicam in case I actually am sick, took an Advil preemptively in hopes my head wouldn’t start hurting, grabbed an Aldi’s brand peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar, and ran out the door. I ate the granola bar and juuled on my way to the bus stop, where I narrowly caught the 3 bus. I took it to the 121 campus connector, which I took to St. Paul. When I got there, I had 20 minutes before class started. I was starving, so I decided to run to the Student Center to see if I could grab food before class. Subway’s line was a little long, but I figured I could make it through. I got a Turkey Bacon Guacamole wrap for $6.99 because I figured it would be easier to hold and eat on my way to work.
I got my wrap, ran to class, listened to lecture, and worked on my assignment on my computer. After class, I walked to the bus stop and took the bus to my work. I grabbed a water bottle at work, and thought for the millionth time about how I should get a reusable water bottle, but knew I would never remember to bring it with me anywhere. Instead of throwing it away, though, I put it in my backpack to use again later. I used paper and tape to pack people’s orders, and a post-it note to write down what I needed to do. After work, I took the bus home. My cats needed more food, so Tyler and I drove to Chuck and Don’s while listening to 93X and juuling because they carry the nice food that we like to feed them. We got the food for $28.62, but didn’t want any of the litter they had there. Walmart has bags of litter for $1.62, so we decided to go get the cheap litter at Walmart. We got 3 bags, which Tyler bought, and I decided to get a bag of chicken nuggets for $4.97 while we were there because I always like to have some “lazy food” in the freezer I can make whenever I don’t have the energy to make anything else.
We drove back, still listening to 93X and juuling, and I sat and did homework while charging my computer when we got home. I was talking with my friend on Snapchat the whole time, and he said he wanted ice cream. I did too, and he offered to come pick me up. I said sure, so he picked me up, and we drove to Izzy’s ice cream because it was close and we had never been there. We each got a scoop of ice cream (for like $6 each, which I thought was crazy expensive but it turned out to be super good), and he paid for mine while I was still getting it. I got a scoop of chocolate ice cream, and they put a little scoop of whatever else you want on top so I got salted caramel. We sat and ate our ice cream, and then he drove me back to my apartment. We listened to music he likes on Spotify on the way there and back. When I got back I was hungry, so I finished the rest of my Subway wrap. When I was done with my homework, I took a shower and brushed my teeth (OGX Cherry Blossom Shampoo I took from my parent’s house, Walmart brand conditioner, and colgate toothpaste). Since I’m sick, I figured I should maybe do something kind of healthy and take some vitamins. I took various Nature Made and Spring Valley brand vitamins like Magnesium and D3. I just took whatever we had because I figured they could all help me get less sick. I then went to sleep.

Day 20 - 9/23/19
Today, I woke up and was super tired. I scrolled through IG and FB for 15 minutes before getting up and drinking some unsweetened Almond Breeze almond milk and eating a premade hard boiled egg from Trader Joe’s. I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but at some point in college the idea of milk just started to kind of weird me out. I’ll still drink it sometimes, I’ve just stopped personally buying it, and I have a weird thing for trying new kinds of plant-based milks. I’m conflicted about almond milk now too since I learned how destructive almond farming is and how bad it is for bees, but when I saw it at Aldi’s, I decided to get some on a whim anyway. I grabbed an Aldi’s brand peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar on my way out the door because I figured almond milk and one egg for breakfast wouldn’t be enough, and I took the bus to class. I did the usual, took notes and nearly fell asleep, and went to Coffman afterwards for lunch. I walked in and saw that the Jamba Juice was still closed (even though I read online that it was supposed to open today!), so I begrudgingly went downstairs to find “real food”.
I’m getting really tired of the selection in Coffman Union. This is my fourth year here now, and you can only eat the same 5 or so things for so long before getting tired of them. There was nothing that was really calling to me, so I just went for Panda Express, the old standby. I was really hungry, and figured it would fill me up. While waiting in the line, I noticed that there’s now a new BBQ or something place there I had never noticed? I heavily considered getting out of line to get a cheeseburger instead, but I had already waited in the line for a few minutes, so I decided to just go with it. The last time I got fried rice at this Panda Express it was really disappointing compared to how it used to be, so I decided on a bowl with chow mein. Again, nothing was calling my name, so I just went for the normal orange chicken. I briefly considered sweetfire chicken, but my teeth kind of stung from the sweetness of the granola bar this morning, so I opted for the less sugary option (which is probably not any less sugary, but it seems like it). I was again disappointed by the serving portions, but I bought it for the $6.60 it is anyway. I grabbed a lid, a fork, and two napkins, and went to sit down.
I charged my phone, and decided to eat a lot since I was pretty hungry. I finished most of it, and put the rest of it in my backpack for later. I went upstairs to go sit outside, and saw that Jamba Juice had opened! I basically lived off Jamba Juice last year, so this was momentous for me. I wasn’t hungry, but I just really wanted Jamba Juice, so I got my favorite comfort smoothie anyway: a small peanut butter mood smoothie for $5.29. I used to get it both as a reward for myself and when I’d had a bad day, and I randomly decided to be nice to myself. I went out and sat in the grass doing my homework and juuling, and realized I was way too full for this smoothie. I realized I didn’t have to rush to drink it, so I brought it to my next class and finished it while taking notes and falling asleep in a guest lecture.
Then I took the bus home, and laid around watching YouTube videos and scrolling through Facebook. My friend said he was getting Panda Express and that we were matching, which reminded me I had leftovers. I ate the rest of my Panda Express, and then ate the rest of the salad from yesterday that was in the fridge. I watched more YouTube videos, and then realized I might be sick - that might explain why I was sniffling all day. I took a chewy Zicam to hopefully quell the symptoms, and then tried to start on my homework. My head was super fuzzy, so I gave up and decided to take an Advil. I haven’t taken any pain killers in a long time so I hesitated for some reason, but did it anyway. Then, I got snacky. Tyler and I ate the rest of the smoked salmon, and I had an artichoke heart.

Day 19 - 9/22/19
Today, I woke up a bit early and had extra time to get ready before my coworker picked me up to bring me to work. We left some extra time to get food, because I figured I would be hungry in the morning, and I was. We used gas and juuled in the car while listening to music on Spotify. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to eat, so we just went to Kowalski’s. I still didn’t know what I wanted to eat, but figured maybe sushi would do the trick. I couldn’t decide which sushi I wanted (I was tired and hungry lol), but David was like “this one is my favorite”, so I just grabbed the one that he likes and bought it even though it was $9.71 and I need to stop spending money on food so damn much. He grabbed me a fork, and we drove to work. Once at work, I ate the sushi (which was like shrimp with some salmon stuff on top and also avocado in the middle), and it was DELICIOUS. I was very glad I got it. I used the little soy sauce packet that came with it as well. I did the normal and used post-it notes to write down what I needed to do, charged my computer and juul, and played a rap Spotify playlist in the store. Back in the back, we listened to David’s music on YouTube for a while before his computer stopped connecting to the bluetooth speakers. Then I was in charge of the music, and I was in a weird throwback-y mood, so I played a bunch of old EDM music I used to listen to in highschool (Skrillex, Flume, Pendulum, Feed Me, etc) on YouTube.
On our way in, David had dropped his cold brew coffee, and it shattered on the pavement. He complained that he was tired, and I wanted to do something nice, so against his will I left and walked to the Holiday gas station down the street. I bought him a coffee as a thanks for driving me, and picked up a pack of Turkish Royals as well. I knew I already had cigarettes at home, and I honestly haven’t been smoking much at all, but we were talking about going out for a cig and I didn’t have any, so I bought more on the off chance we wanted to go out. I knew I would use them at some point anyway, so I spent my $13.24 on the coffee and the pack, got a bag, and walked back to work. The charge didn’t go through until the next day. Throughout the day I did my normal work things, using my camera to take pictures of things, and my computer to upload them to our social media platforms. I used an envelope to put the cash drop in, and we left.
We used gas to drive back to my apartment, and David turned on the artist grandson on Spotify because that’s the only music I’ve felt like listening to ever since I saw him live. I told him we could listen to other stuff, and played a bunch of various songs. We parked, and decided to watch an episode from this guy he showed me on YouTube called Jim Can’t Swim (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYwVxWpjeKFWwu8TML-Te9A) that we’ve been meaning to watch for a while but hadn’t gotten around to because it’s 2 hours long. This is the episode we watched, it’s a show about serial killers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFcl3dm3LM8. After that, I didn’t want to do my homework yet, so we watched another episode that’s available only to Patreon subscribers. Luckily, David is one of his patrons, so we watched the 45 minute episode. I still didn’t want to do my homework, so we watched two more half hour long videos and juuled the whole time. By then, my stomach had been rumbling for an hour, so David convinced me to go to Taco Bell. He offered to pay for it since I bought him a coffee, so I got a 5-layer burrito. I was also thirsty, so I got a cup of water. When asked if we wanted any sauce he said no, so I just went with it and we just got a bag and some napkins. I ate it, and then decided I should check on my homework. My homework for my online class involved using Twitter, so I scrolled through Twitter and finished up my homework. I decided to go back into my apartment to sleep, and David asked if I wanted the rest of the salad he had bought at Kowalski’s that he had barely touched. I said sure, brought it inside, and ate half of it. I felt weird about eating at night, but I was hungry so oh well. I then drank some almond milk to hopefully make myself even less hungry, and went to sleep after going on Snapchat and Instagram for a while.

Day 18 - 9/21/19
Today, I woke up at 9 am uncharacteristically energetic and happy. Tyler didn’t wake up until 11, so I chatted with my friend on Snapchat and scrolled through Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for a few hours. I got hungry, so I got up and ate some Aldi’s potato salad from the container. My friend went and got chicken nuggets for breakfast, which got me thinking about chicken nuggets. I went to the freezer, and LO AND BEHOLD, we had frozen chicken nuggets! I made 5, and ate them with a side of chick fila’s chicken sauce or whatever it’s called. Tyler finally woke up at 11 am, and we tried to figure out what to do with our Saturday. I scrolled through Facebook events, he scrolled through Google’s events, and eventually I mentioned I was in the mood to do something fall related. We decided to look up corn mazes, and found one in Brooklyn park. We bought our tickets online because they were cheaper ($10 each, Tyler bought both), and headed to Minnesota's Largest Corn Maze. It was like a 25 minute drive, so we used gas, used Google Maps,  and listened to 93X on the way there and juuled.
We made it there, parked, got our wristbands to get in, and went in. I was hungry, so we stopped at a stand and each got a cheeseburger for $5. They had condiments on the side, so I added pickles, onions, and ketchup to mine. They had two people performing music on a little stage as well, so we listened to them for a bit. We decided to see what else was there before we entered the corn maze, so we went to the petting zoo and spent a ridiculous amount of time petting the cute animals. We didn’t spend any money on feed to give them because I just spent money on the cheeseburger, but it was super fun nonetheless. My friend did send me $10 on Facebook for the shirt I bought her the other night though. After the animals, we decided to go in the corn maze. They gave us each a sheet of paper with a map and a tiny pencil, because there were 20 signs hidden around the maze and if you found all of them and answered the questions on them, you’d be entered to win $100. We went through, found all of them, and it was a great time. We also snuck three ears of corn out of the field in my bag to eat at some point. We came back out and were thirsty, and I didn’t want to buy water but didn’t want to leave yet, so Tyler spent $2 on an Ice Mountain bottle of water.
We then went in this huge pit of corn, I used my camera to take some pictures to send my parents, and we went on a hay ride. We then went back to pet the animals some more before deciding this was well worth our $10 and headed back to the car. We used Google Maps to get us home, and listened to 93X and smoked an American Spirit on the way. On our way back, we talked about how we were going to prepare the corn we got. I suggested elote, and we decided to stop at Trader Joe’s to get the ingredients we were missing. I had never been 21 at Trader Joe’s before, so we decided to stop in the liquor store first. They had a bunch of single bottles of beer, and there was a pumpkin beer I wanted to try, but didn’t want to buy a whole 6-pack, so I got one and Tyler got a beer he wanted to try. It was $2.59 total. We then went into the grocery store side, and looked for the ingredients we needed. Trader Joe’s is excellent at having products you don’t need, but they’re so interesting you buy them anyway. I picked up a few extras, like a soup that sounded good, and a frozen Indian meal. I kept being like “I want this, but I don’t need it...”, and so eventually Tyler was like “Why don’t you just buy them? You’ve spent the last 3 years of college being super frugal (it’s true, my dad literally asked me if I even eat at all because I spent so little of my FlexDine), so why not live large and get the things you actually want this last year?”. This sparked some splurchase energy in me, so I went back and grabbed a bunch of stuff I wanted, like some fancy truffles, a frozen eggplant meal, some roasted pepper and corn soup, an avocado, some artichoke hearts, a package of smoked salmon, and more. My total came out to $48.98, which I exclaimed wasn’t bad, even though we still had groceries at home. We drove back, and I sampled everything I had bought once I got home because I was so excited to have all these things. Tyler and I drank our beers, and then settled down to watch The Great British Baking Show on Netflix before sleeping.

Day 17 - 9/20/19
Today, I had my 8:30 am class. I woke up, procrastinated getting up by scrolling through Instagram, grabbed the coffee I made the night before for once, grabbed my Aldi’s brand trail mix, ate an Aldi’s brand peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar, and headed out to catch the bus. I caught the 3 bus to the 124 campus connector, and made it to McNeal Hall. I got there earlier than expected and I was extremely hungry, so I decided for the first time to get food before class. I went to the St. Paul Student Center, went to Subway, and got a Turkey, Bacon & Guacamole wrap for $7.49. I had a relaxing moment sitting and eating nearly half, and then went to class. It’s amazing how much better you can focus, and how much better you feel when you eat and drink coffee before an 8:30 am class! I listened to the lecture, took notes, and during a break took a few more bites of my sandwich. I still had about half, which I saved for later.
After class, I took the 121 campus connector back to Minneapolis, where I caught the 6 bus to work. I scrolled through all social media platforms while on the bus, and eventually got to work. While there I did all my normal work stuff, used post-it notes to write down what I needed to do and what needed to be restocked, used my camera to take pics for social media, and used my computer to upload them and decide what should be posted for the next week. While I was there, I ate the rest of my sandwich, and it was great. The day went on as normal, and a bit before close I sat around chatting with 3 of my coworkers. My coworker stayed late chatting with our other coworkers, and offered to drive me home. We used gas and listened to Spotify on the way, and then talked for a bit before I ran inside to rush-do my homework because my friend who is in a band invited me to their house show. I went on my computer and typed up an assignment as fast as I could, and bought a subscription to Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for my photography class for $10.70. I was really hungry, so I asked Tyler to make me a thing of Yakisoba instant noodles, which I demolished in like 3 minutes. I knew I probably should’ve eaten better food that would sustain me through the night, but I was focused on eating fast. I grabbed a bottle of Seagram’s vodka and a bottle of Sprite, as well as my wallet, and we rushed out to the show.
When we got to the house, I realized I had two cans of Truly hard seltzer in the car. I grabbed one, and drank it as we entered the house. I found my best friend, and we went out and had a cigarette while taking pulls from the Seagram’s and drinking Minute Maid lemonade my friend brought. I was also juuling the whole time. My friend’s band went on, and we crammed into the basement to listen. Here’s a video from the show: https://youtu.be/BmW9-884SNg. We took several more pulls from the bottle while in the basement, and once their set was over, we went outside and smoked another cigarette. We intended to stay for the last band, but ended up staying outside drinking and smoking for a while. My friend’s band had t-shirts available, so I bought one for myself and one for my friend who didn’t have cash on her; it was $20 for both. After that, we went back to my friend’s apartment. On the way there I was hyped as fuck, and blasted my favorite grandson songs in the car off of YouTube. When I got to the apartment, I finished my second can of Truly, and took more pulls of vodka. We spent some time there talking, nearly ordered Jimmy John’s but found that they didn’t deliver to his area, went out for another cigarette, and I played with his cat. My friend fell asleep after a while, so we eventually drove home because Tyler was a good designated driver. I played more grandson from Spotify, and we probably listened to 93X too. We got back to the apartment and I guess we started watching an episode of The Great British Baking Show, but I passed out before it even started so Tyler paused it and saved it for a later date.

Day 16 - 9/19/19
This morning I woke up, scrolled through social media, and took a bunch of pictures with my cute kitten who was sleeping on me and Snapchatted them to my friends. I was feeling a bit hungover, so I drank some water and grabbed an Aldi’s brand granola bar for the road. I took the bus to the campus connector to class, and read through my speaker notes for my presentation and Snapchatted my friend on the ride over. Once I got to class, I gave my presentation, and then listened to the rest of lecture and took notes.
After class, I went to the St Paul Student Center and got a Subway sandwich for $5.19 because it’s easy to eat on the way to my bus to work. I walked to the bus stop eating my sandwich, got full and put the rest of it in my bag for later, and took the bus to work. It was another typical day at work, and I used paper, tape, and packing supplies to send out orders. I grabbed a water bottle to rehydrate myself as well.
After work, I took the bus home. I had a photography project to do, so I took my friend’s camera that I borrowed (a Nikon d3300), and convinced Tyler to come outside and let me take pictures of him. We spent like 2 or 3 hours walking around this bridge and park by my house taking pictures. I found a bunch of sketchy trash on the ground, picked it up to take a picture of, and threw it in the garbage afterwards. We also smoked a cigarette, burnt a napkin we found, and burnt a pinecone to try and get some cool pictures. We walked back home, I used Twitter to do an assignment for my online class, and finished the rest of my Subway sandwich and ate a pickle. I’ve just been eating pickles whenever I get snacky lately because they are yummy, don’t require a plate or anything that has to be washed later, and they’re convenient. I used my phone to take a bunch of pictures of my cats, who were being incredibly cute, and then watched a bunch of YouTube videos with Tyler on his computer. I also used my phone to check what bus I should take in the morning. I haven’t been writing about that every day since I do it every day and usually forget about it, but I’ve been including pictures because I usually take a picture that I can reference in the morning if I happen to wonder when the bus is coming or what bus I should take (even though it rarely changes... it’s just an anxious thing). I then brushed my teeth and went to sleep.

Day 15 - 9/18/19
Today, I got up, got ready in 10 min, grabbed an Aldi’s brand peanut butter chocolate chip granola bar, and ran out the door. I took the 3 bus to my class, and consumed the lecture and took notes as usual. After class, I went to Coffman for lunch. I wish there were other convenient places to go, but that’s all there is. I really wanted Jamba Juice because that’s my favorite thing in Coffman, but it was STILL CLOSED. I always feel horrible about supporting Chick Fil A, but because of this I don’t eat it as much as everything else in that food court. I was feeling especially sick of everything else available, so I hesitantly decided to get a spicy Chick Fil A sandwich for $4.39. Maybe if the U had more options, I wouldn’t have to resort to supporting such a shitty company. I ate my sandwich, did some studying on my computer, and eventually went to my next class. I absorbed the lecture, took some notes, and then took the bus home.
When I got home, I realized the produce I bought at Aldi’s had been sitting in the fridge for a while now. I decided to make a huge salad intending to save most of it for later, so I wouldn’t have to go through the effort of making another salad, and I could use up as much produce as possible. I put all the produce I had in there; broccoli, lettuce, spinach, tomatoes, guacamole, as well as cheese, ranch dressing, and some ham. It ended up being so good that I ate nearly the entire container I had made, and I had very little to put back in the fridge to save for later. Satisfied with my meal, I finished up my homework on my computer, and charged my phone. My favorite artist in the world, Grieves, was playing a show at the Fine Line tonight, and I was super excited to go. I wasn’t super interested in seeing the openers, so I had some time to get dressed up before I left. I did my makeup all cute, and even tried out the highlighter I bought for my $2 splurchase. I was a little bit disappointed by it, but it did have an interesting red shine that matched the red accents on the shirt I was wearing. I also used Maybelline Lash Stiletto Ultimate Length mascara, which I get because my mom always used to use it. I also used another highlighter I bought from Ulta because I decided that I needed to hop on the trend of using highlighters and looking like you’re glowing.
I spent too long on Snapchat talking with my friend and thinking I had more time that I missed the bus I intended to take. I found another bus I could take, so I took a swig of banana flavored bacardi, grabbed my stuff, and ran out the door. I juuled while I literally ran to the bus stop, only to watch it pass by me while I was across the street. It was getting closer to the time I had wanted to be there by, so I decided to take the L and order a Lyft since I was getting really anxious about being there on time. I spent my $7.27 on a Lyft to the Fine Line, and my driver didn’t play music the whole time and just talked to me. Once I got there, I was getting checked in on the guest list when I saw my coworker standing by the door. He came over and chatted with me, and then asked if I could be his +1 and get his other green room wristband. The woman said sure, so I got a fancy checkered wristband and my wrists stamped.
Once I got inside, I wanted to get a drink. My coworker told me there were beers in the green room, so I went down to try and find them. I couldn’t figure out where they were, so I awkwardly sat around talking to my friend on Snapchat. Grieves was in the green room hanging out, and we talked for a bit. He offered someone else a beer, so I asked if he could grab me one too. He said they also had hard seltzers, so I decided to try one of those. I don’t remember what the brand was, but it was lime-flavored and awful. I drank the whole thing anyway because I didn’t want to seem rude or ungrateful. The show was close to starting, so I went upstairs, and the show began. Here’s a video from the show: https://youtu.be/kk0W29pPUjU - I was side stage and it was SO GOOD. I knew there was more free alcohol downstairs, but I didn’t want to go downstairs and miss part of Grieves’ set, so I went to the bar and bought a screwdriver for $8.37. Grieves makes me so happy so I was feeling like getting pretty lit, so I downed my drink pretty fast. I went to go get another one at the bar, but the bar had closed. I really wanted another drink, so I went downstairs to see what I could find. There was a bottle of Jameson sitting on the table, and no one around, so I grabbed a cup and started pouring a drink. There wasn’t that much left, so I just emptied my bottle into my cup. I don’t even like Jameson, but I was in the mood to just take what I could get so that I could keep drinking. The rest of the show was phenomenal, and afterwards I got to go back down to the green room and spend some time with my favorite artist. I was completely content to take the bus home, but my manager at my other job offered to give me a ride home since he was already giving another person a ride home. I said sure, got back, ate some more salad and 4 chicken nuggets before scrolling through Instagram happily and going to sleep.

Day 14 - 9/17/19
Today, I grabbed an Aldi’s brand granola bar, ran to the bus stop, and took the bus to the 121 campus connector. On the way, I bought tickets to see Fall Out Boy, Green Day, and Weezer live next year because Fall Out Boy is my favorite band in the world and I’ve never seen them live. Tickets were expensive, but I decided to treat myself and justified the $159.75 because it was a whole year away. I went to class, listened to lecture, took notes, and then went to the St Paul Student Center for lunch. I was in line for Subway, but it was taking forever and I noticed that the pizza place has a pizza that’s the same as my friend’s name. I decided to get it even though I knew it was overpriced so I could snap a picture of it to him. I paid $6.99 for my half pizza, and walked to the bus stop eating it. It was actually delicious, and I was weirdly disappointed because I was hoping it wouldn’t be that good so I wouldn’t have to get pizza there ever again. I got on the bus and went to work. I settled in, grabbed a bottle of water, and printed out some orders before realizing the door to the stock room was locked, and there was no one there to open it for me. I printed out labels for what I could and used tape to pack up the orders before walking to the bus stop and taking the bus to the post office to drop the packages off. The next bus home wasn’t for 17 minutes, so I frustratedly started walking home. It was brutally hot out, so I scanned the Lime app, hoping there was a scooter somewhere I could take so I could get home faster. There was one a ways away, so I started walking to it. When I got there I couldn’t immediately see it, and decided it would be dumb to pay for a scooter when I wasn’t that far from home, so I just gave up and waited at the bus stop for the bus.
When I got home, I ate my last slice of pizza, a pickle, and drank some Almond Breeze almond milk. My online friend posted that her bank account had overdrafted and she needed money to get it unlocked, so I sent her $7 on Venmo because I wanted to help out. I then ate some little tomatos with guacamole because I didn’t know what else to eat. I had a show to go to, so I finished my homework quickly. I wanted to get dressed up, but I was going by myself so I decided to just wear what I was wearing. I ran out and caught the bus to First Avenue to see K.Flay because I thought I would be getting there at a reasonable time, and I juuled on my way there. I hadn’t checked the set times online, so once I got there I bought a screwdriver for $9.95 and downed it super fast because I thought she was going on soon. I also stopped by her merch booth and bought some socks for $15 because they were cute and I still wanted to support her since I got into the show free through my job. It turns out there was still an opener before her, and I didn’t know what to do because I was alone and I’m awkward, so I went and hid in the bathroom and juuled while doing some homework on my phone. After the opener was done, I went out into the crowd and considered buying a second drink. I had homework I thought I was going to do later, though, so I decided against it. I was also tired as fuck and had juuled myself to being lit, so it was okay that I didn’t.
The show started, and here’s a video from the show: https://youtu.be/0-DX_RQBylo. I only know her old stuff, and I was constantly waiting to hear an old song (even though the tour was for her new album). My legs were tired and I kept holding out for old songs, but she only ended up playing two and one newer one that I knew. I wanted to support, so I ended up staying anyway. After the show I took the bus home, and scrolled through social media on my way. When I got back, I ate a pickle, one zebra cake out of the package, a few pieces of broccoli to be healthy, and some pizza rolls before I did some homework. I took a Zicam in case I was getting sick, and then went to sleep.
