She does see Rukia chasing the rabbits, from the corner of her eye while she is sat at her desk clear across the other side of garden.

Ah, is she aiding in some pest control for the 8th? Probably not.

Still, she pulls out her phone to send a message to the captain.

[Msg: Rukia] Please make sure the rabbits don't eat the hostas. They're doing a real number on them! <3

"Physical muscle has never been my strong suit," she tells him, like it might not be obvious to him already. This has nothing to do with her gender and everything to do with just her. The thing was, there were plenty of women around her size and stature that were very strong. Looks could be deceiving. "I've been thinking on working a bit more to remedy that-"

Compared to the a human, she might be considered freakishly strong, but here, many wouldn't have a problem beating her in a test of physical strength.

She had heard that during the war, Rukia had managed to lift both Kensei and Rose to safety. Just where was she packing all that muscle? Even Momo could whisk Shinji away without a problem (well, actually...she could probably do that too, twig of a man he is).

"I was curious as to if I could or not, but logistically, I'm not even sure how I would."

"That's true...good thing." Even though they had so many close calls not so long ago. He ended up closer to death than she had, but frankly, she just chalks it up to pure luck. She pats him on the shoulder, as if it'll clear up this weird melancholy that hangs in the air.

"We're not dead so I guess we'll just have to make the most of it."

"D'aw..." He realizes then what that means, and that he would do the same: stop at nothing to make sure they're by each other's side in any plane of existence. Like some sort of fate they can control. He's never really gotten this far in the thought process. He always stops before it feels too real. "I don't think we gotta worry about it too much. You n' I are very hard to kill."

"Hm. Well, you know it's not really the stuff that matters anyways." She doesn't want to think much about it either. The risk makes it real enough already. "If you die I'll just go and find you in the real world."

"Nah, he gets his fair share, don't worry. N' you get everythin' that hasn't been spoken for, n' that's all sentimental stuff. Specific to each loved one. You get my whole-ass estate. N' a lifetime a' missin' me." He tries not to think about it with any sincerity. It would hurt too much to consider, despite how much of a possibility it is in their line of work.

"I'm writin' him outta my will," Shinji says. "Textin' him that now." Notifications silenced???? How can someone live like that? "Fine. It'll just be a surprise when I die n' he doesn't get any of the jock-rock records I bought as a joke."

"Aha. Maybe." She waits a beat before pulling out her own phone and dialing Kensei as well. One, two, three, and four rings before a gruff "what?" picks up on the line. "Just proving a point, bye~" Miki simply smiles.

"You dunno that for sure," he says, dialing. He leaves it on speaker, and of course it goes to voicemail after no more than two rings. Wrinkling his nose, he hangs up. "He's probably just busy."
