garden 2024

1-3, hellebores (new this year) / 4, flowering quince (new this year, lots of buds already so i'm hoping for plenty of flowers from her) / 5, hyacinth (i LOVE the colours) / 6, primrose / 7, snowdrops.

not pictured: daffodils. purple, red, pink primroses in the front garden.

in january, i dug a new bed in the front garden and planted one of my nan's roses (red) out there, where i'm hoping it'll grow a bit better than it was in the pot it was in.

i've also planted some tulips, anemones & ranunculaceae, which i hope will flower soon! the tulips and daffodils in the back garden have sprouted already, the front garden ones were planted a few weeks behind and don't get as much sun so i'm not sure if they'll come to anything...

some seeds i started off inside in the last couple of weeks: sweet peas, asters, carnations.

and i've taken some cuttings of my dahlia tubers that have started to sprout. i tried this last year but i think i was too impatient and they were too small when i planted them out so this year i might try them as pot dahlias and hopefully have a bigger tuber at the end of the season to dig up, which can then be planted in a bigger bed next year.

i'm not growing as much fruit/veg this year but i've started off my first batch of peas and tomatoes this week, and must remember to do another batch in a couple of weeks.

(i'm going to try and reblog this post with additions throughout the growing season rather than making a new post every time - i think it'll be neat to look back on as like. an online record of the year in the garden.)

we've caught two shinies now. the growlithe was on purpose, the chansey was a byproduct of the growlithe hunt. a friend has also given us a shiny vulpix and a shiny beedrill, which was very kind of them.
