So the new TMNT trailer just dropped this week and the child in me HAD to do something to celebrate it. Ive watched it an embarrassing number of times and have tortured all of my friends to sitting and watching it with me at least once. Lol(im so sorry im so annoying. It was just so good and I'm just so excited 🫣😅😭) Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a big ninja turtle fan. One of my friends got me a Leonardo beanie that I wear everyday and everywhere. And I WISH I had a turtle shell backpack...I mean can you imagine how awesome that would be?!? Something Noone knows about me is way back in grade school when I was first learning how to draw, I had a "how to draw Garfield" book. It inspired me to start drawing. And of course I made my first comic series "super turtle". A normal everyday turtle just minding his business, when he gets hit by a canister of "super ooze". He had a cape and a sign on his chest (I can't remember if it was just "T" or if it was "ST"). He could fly and fight crime. There were future comics where there were new kinds of ooze and he would have different forms like "ultra turtle"(I'll be honest I cannot for the life of me remember what the other forms were. Lol). So life's been crazy the past weekend. No power for 3 days! No big pieces planned this month. Just alot of art studies and alot fundamental warm-ups. BUi did want to say that today is day 25 of my 100 days of sketching it is officially a habit now. Lol. I am 25% or 1/4 of the way done. I honestly think I've drawn more in the last few months than I have in my entire life combined. I still have good days and bad days. Some days where it feels like I'm not getting any better or I'm not understanding how something fits together and I just want to give up, but the support I've gotten from friends, family and the art community has been most welcome. Day 17(of 100) in my drawing camp class. - boxes and perspectives We started simple perspective in kesh's course today. Since I've been doing so much with draw-a-box, I already had a good handle on 1 piint perspective and didn't need to do alot of extra studying. *starting the process of creating my on OCs(original characters). It's not perfect but I had fun. Starting to get out of my head that I shouldn't draw something because I feel I'm not ready. I sat down and made my March goals: - Gesture drawings (30+ simple poses, 2-5mins) - Perspective basics (ive got a good handle on them, but wouldn't hurt to take a refresher look before I start my box challenge) - Studies of art I like (linear only. My teacher just wants me to study, break down, and recreate some of my favorite artists work only in lineart. No shading!) March Challenges: - Marc's draw in 30 days - Start 250 box challenge - Start 100 face challenge While there is alot to study in classes. My personal focus this month with be faces/heads/hair and starting to get deeper into constructive anatomy. March will be the busiest month yet...(I feel like I say that every month lol). I've been slowly picking up speed getting ready for this one. I'll be starting Marc brunet's art course. 10 terms for let's say over the next 2 years. And a new study schedule from my teacher. 1+ hour in the morning, 1+ hour afternoon and 3+ hours after dinner(and that's the "if you're busy and have work and a life" schedule. Lol). Of course I'll be layering it on top of my kesh program and personal projects. And I promise to take breaks when I feel I need them(for you worryworts out there). When it comes to my comfort zone I feel like I'm still in my learning zone but taking steps into my growth zone. I have a ton of work ahead of me, but I feel pretty good about this. *yess! Taking a day to breathe after my last big piece. Letting my arm rest, bubble bath with bath salts, and maybe a movie and dinner. Some light sketching and try to squeeze in a class. Have to prepare for March. Redoing my budget and creating a new drawing schedule. Next month will be the biggest month so far this year. I have several appointments to make since it's my birth month. I'll be taking a couple of weeks off of work to spend with friends and family and of course...more drawing. I would like to attempt to do the 100 heads challenge during my time off. As a palette cleaner I decided to play star ocean: the last hope after bloodborne. A normal 60 hour rpg about saving the world/galaxy/universe. Cristina Vee Since I'm going to attempt to take it easy on my arm tomorrow, I decided to let you guys get a glimpse of how I practice behind the scenes. After each day in my lessons I try to do 5-10 pages of practice on what we learned. Today was spheres from the previous day. And I still try to make time for daily shading practice and gesture drawings. When I complete a full lesson or the entire "week"(sometimes they are 7 days and sometimes they are more but it's still counted as a week), I start over from day one before I start the next week of lessons. And yes I still have personal projects coming up(and life and adulting stuff). I still have my 250 box challenge coming up(I'm totally procrastinating, I can't even lie. Lol). And I do want to try the 100 faces in 10 days challenge, sometime this year. Will it be done in 10 days? Probably not. My coworker always asks me..."Haku, why don't do more digital art?" And to that I say "lol I don't have time". There IS a plan to do more digital art, especially digital painting, in the future, but right now I'm swamped and broke and planning on moving. So it's not a high priority for me right now. But I do expect to post more in the future. Like with everything thing else I've done this year, I hope when things calm down, I can seriously sit down and get to know the ins and outs of procreate and clip studio paint. And really bring my art to a whole 'nother lever. But since I'm also trying not to burn or stress myself out(more than I already am), I'm ok with waiting on that.
