Are the Order of Whispers’ Weapons Not Actually the Order of Whispers’ Weapons...
Or alternatively, does the OoW actually have two sets of weapon skins?
I’ve been wondering about this for some time since of the three Orders, the OoW always seems to me to have the most out of place weapon skins.
Comparatively, the Vigil’s Weapons suited both the armor sets and the colour scheme, but also consistently has the emblem included as the part of the design on select pieces:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But as well as that, several pieces have New Krytan writing on them, which I unfortunately can’t read properly, but if anyone else knows what they say I’d love to know. I thought, once upon a time, it said some part of the “Some Must Fight” creed, but… Yeah, if anyone has these skins and a higher res to read them, I’d love to know.
Similarly, with The Priory’s weapons were clearly, to me, meant for the Priory and consistently included the emblem in several pieces:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But also, perhaps most easily seen in the shield, many of the weapons with flat emerald sections (like the Axe, the Swords, the Mace, etc.) show what look like reflections of the tablets at The Heart of the Priory.
Tumblr media
Again, this is too small for me to make out, but if anyone else knows more details I’d love to hear.
Comparing that to The Whisper’s weapons, don’t have these sorts of links with the Order of Whispers’ uniforms or theme. There is certainly a red and gold theme, but there’s also a vaguely mechanical, clockwork/steampunk aesthetic going on, especially in the weapons that might have longer blades to extend them.
Tumblr media
On the one hand, this serves a function of the OoW as being secretive and being able to compact and conceal a weapon in certainly is in keeping with the group, but to me it never neatly sat as matching in the way the Priory’s and Vigil’s weapons did.
And, of course it could be argued that the Whisper’s weapons fit other parts of the Order’s workings instead:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, I noticed something about the Ceremonial Weapon skins and their similarities to the Order of Whispers. Even more than the colour theme is the blatant use of related emblems:
Tumblr media
And, quite clearly on the axe:
Tumblr media
In New Krytan the symbols spell out “OOW” and “FIGHT.”
So here’s what I’m wondering. Was this a technical oversight by Anet when they were implementing the Order weapon sets into the game? Was there a miscommunication and two sets were produced for the Order of Whispers? Or was a weapon set that was originally designed to be obtained elsewhere in the game accidentally assigned to the OoW? Did Anet think the “Ceremonial” weapons were somehow not suitable for an actual set of Order skins?
Or is it an lore thing? Were the Ceremonial weapons items the OoW used to rely on and over time “upgraded” to something more contemporary? Are the ceremonial weapons a glance back to the OoW’s inception as an organisation and effectively relics? Would it have just been a bit too obvious to have “You’ve been split in two by a member of the Order of Whispers” carved into the side of your massive blade?
I don’t know if anyone has thoughts, but I just found this sort of interesting.

It always upset me when I went on the GW2 Wiki and there were so many holes in the Orrian syllabary, especially once i heard it was intended to be a readable language, but got scrapped. So I took it upon myself to create the rest of it and fill in the holes.
Everything in green is what already existed on the wiki, and is all but confirmed to be the canon lettering.
Everything in red, I created following the existing letters’ rules.
It was a long journey but I’m so pleased with the end result!
Click for full view! The images are quite large and it’s hard to read when it’s all squished like this!
(Huge full-sized single image here!)
EDIT: Fixed minor mistakes

So I took the time and translated all the New Krytan in the new Consortium Office today. From top to bottom each reads: Panel 1: The Consortium: Your Satisfaction is Our Desire!
Panel 2: The Benefits of Standing All Day:                - Improves Circulation                - Less/More Inertia                - Every weekend is like a vacation!                - Sitting is for the weak!
Panel 3: Privileged and Confidential: Attention Consortium employees. It’s that time of year again. Time to dust the old brains off and come up with a new company slogan. We’ve found that revenue spikes every time we change our appearance, so it’s time to bring our forward thinking innovative thought process to bear on this product. Be sure to leverage off your mental assets! The winner this year gets a very attractive warm beverage holder!
Whoever submits the worst entry will be encouraged to seek employment elsewhere.
Good luck, and most importantly, have fun!
Panel 4: The Consortium is a premier omnichannel provider of iconic brands, planning solutions, and customer-centric services.
Panel 5: Due to prolonged water break conversations, management has reduced the number of ladles to one.
Panel 6: We are the future
Panel 7: Changing the world, one acquisition at a time Very amusing overall and fun to read. Happy exploration day all!

Tumblr media
“Rice Wine” | “Zeh_u_a” OR “Zeh_wa” (Was far too grainy, even on the highest settings).

Warning
Dangerous sea monsters
Lion’s Arch Authorities kindly remind all visitors that sea monsters have rendered our beaches unsafe for the general public. Should you choose to ignore this warning then upon your inevitable, grisly demise members of our local pirate population will insure the fair division of your remaining, worldly possessions. Despite your potential horrible end, find comfort in the knowledge that you will soon no longer care and that you will have made a generous contribution to those who, ironically, have more respect of the rules than you do.
