I've not done 4 pictures in one post in a while haha. The 3rd picture is right after a storm so horrendous it tore off our hostel's false ceiling. Nature can be so horrifyingly beautiful.
The exam week is upon us, and I am trying to stay afloat. After this it's only one year before I graduate, and man I really want it to be over...

24.04.2024 // slowly becoming one with this desk. the wires bother me a lot so i've sought advice from a friend on how to organise them better. hopefully, they'll stop looking like such dump. a colleague also donated her french press to the office, which means that i don't have to spend $10 on coffee everyday because frankly, that is utterly absurd and I had, in fact, stopped drinking coffee for a while. but can't do without that caffeine; it keeps me functioning.

I know I don’t shut up about this but frankly not enough people are angry about the 5-day/40 hour workweek (and I am AWARE a lot of people work even more than that). I feel like a lot more people should be absolutely furious that we only really have two days a week and some occasional hours in the evening to socialise, run errands, do chores, or relax.
It’s no wonder so many people are profoundly lonely and disconnected from their communities when maintaining a social life in what little free time we have is incredibly difficult. If you have kids, a second job, a very long commute, or other responsibilities, it’s nearly impossible.
We literally aren’t meant to live like this and I’ll never stop being shocked how many people just take it as the natural state of things and don’t want to throw a brick through a billionaire’s window every time they think of it.

When you first start learning a language the meaning of all of the words that you learn depend entirely on the equivalent word in a language you speak, and without that word to give it a meaning it would just be a random sound to you, but later on you don’t need that equivalent word for the new words you’ve learned to have meaning anymore and they just exist on their own in your brain without attachment to any other languages and I think that that’s my definition of fluency, when the words stop depending on another language for meaning in your mind
