Imagine traveling the entire breath of the universe to find a safe haven for your kin’s future. You home world destroyed and your enemy’s greatest weapon in hot pursuit. Every other planet is dead or mysteriously has gone extinct. You might lose yourself to sorrow but you find one pearl in the ocean of dark and find a Goddess on it that begins immediately gushing about her future companion. To the point where to actually start to believe in their stories of future exploits and heroism. So you settle down with your brood and see all the atrocities you’ve known before take place. But you still believe in that Goddess’s stories so much you even sacrifice your own life for it. Only to be woken up spiritually a while later to this pathetic little flesh thing checking in on a rumor. So shrug your shoulders figuring this can’t POSSIBLY be the one, the Goddess was talking about. Many heroes came before and there will be many more. So you take away their blessed thinking you’re relieving them of the burden of all that the Goddess told you. But, hey you got nothing better to do so why not just join this mortal as they see the horrors you’ve seen unfold. Only to see them quickly regain the blessing, exceed your expectations, and rekindle the hope you had long only thought was legend at this point. Your ancient enemy’s weapon is reawoken and you even partake in its sport of putting yourself against it. Surely. SURELY. This time this frail mortal will fall? Not only do they not fall, they defeat you, and drive your enemy to its own ruin. Forcing it to believe in the same spirit of adventure the Goddess took stock in. Content that this actually is the legendary companion of that Goddess, you safely put the world in their hands. Going back to sleep but not before sending out your son to save them. Because man, these mortals are so frail and don’t think how they’ll get OUT of an enemy’s stronghold after charging into it. And so you drift off, content in the knowledge that Goddess’s dream is going to be fulfilled.
