"I will." She nodded. "Thanks for your concern." Zey smiled warmly at Mort, before tilting her head. "Someone's messing with one of my coffins. I have to go." Zey smiled ruefully. "Sorry." Aspen waved goodbye, sinking into the ground.
Aspen pulls zemselves out of the ground, emerging at the edge of a graveyard. The rusted sign leaning against the run-down fence surrounding the graveyard reads: "The Resting Place" in large engraved letters. The graveyard itself is old and filled with weeds, the tombstones cracked and covered with moss. Aspen smiles, leaning against an old, dying tree.

"You're welcome." She smiled. "I could drop by again one day, if you'd like?" Zey offered. "If that's alright with you." A coffin rumbled out of the ground. "You can always contact me through the coffin." Aspen chuckles. "I sometimes use my coffins as a delivery system."

"Thank you." She hugs Mort for a few seconds before stepping back, smiling softly. "I appreciate it." Zey stand there awkwardly for a moment, before saying, "I hope I haven't taken up too much of your time?"

"That would be nice, thank you." Aspen said quietly, Rupert going back into his coffin, which sinks into the ground. "It's been quite some time since I've had anyone be nice to me." Zey smiled weakly, walking closer to Mort.

Aspen nods. "I tried to bring back my partner, but... it wasn't him. The reanimated corpse attacked me." She sighed, gently petting Rupert. "It was me losing him that caused me to Become an Avatar." Zey frowned sadly. "I miss him." She shook zeir head. "Sorry for dumping that on you."

"Yeah." Aspen nods, shifting Rupert to one hand. "Attempting to has some.... less than stellar results." Aspen uses her free hand to rub a jagged scar on the side of zeir neck. "The end result is very unpleasant. I've heard that there's a Lietner that can bind a dead soul to it, but nobody knows where it is."

"It's not full reanimation, I can't give a reanimated being their full mind back. The more complex the mind, the more control over it I have. Rupert basically has the mental capacity of a snail." Aspen shrugs. "He was my first reanimated being, and I keep him around as a memento." Aspen holds zeir hand out, and a small coffin no larger than an armadillo appears in the ground.
It opens its lid, the skeleton of a rat with little flesh left climbing out of the coffin. The coffin snaps shut and sinks into the ground once more. Aspen gently picks up the rat skeleton in both her hands and holds him. "This is Rupert." Rupert's bones clink together in the breeze.

"I kept pulling the victims into my coffins before June could properly scare them. It's not that June couldn't find other victims, they just have a rather short temper when it comes to me." She laughs slightly. "Especially when I reanimated Rupert, my pet rat." Zey sighed. "I miss June sometimes. We were never that close, but they were a constant presence, a grounding factor in my life. Ever since we stopped talking, I feel like I'm losing more of myself."
The half-eaten apple Aspen was holding withers, crumbling into dust. Aspen looks at what used to be the apple. Zey sighed. "I don't normally lose control like that." She shrugged, before remembering Mort was there. Aspen looked at Mort. "Sorry for dumping that on you, I didn't mean to go off like that."

"Ever since I became an Avatar. And the size of the coffins vary." Aspen takes another bite of her apple. "I've had them for so long, using them is like second nature to me." Zey chuckled. "My ex-spouse hated the coffins, because I 'kept stealing their victims' as they put it." She shrugged. "Well, we only got married for tax purposes anyway, so it's not that big a deal."
Aspen looks curiously at Mort. "Anyone special in your life, or do you not do that?"

"I've heard of him, but that’s all. I believe he was indeed an Avatar of The Buried." Aspen chuckled. "There's a few other Avatars I've heard of that are mixed allegiance as well." Aspen glances at Mort's hands curiously, a small coffin thrusting itself out of the dirt. Aspen opens the coffin and takes out a bag of apples, surprisingly free of dirt. The coffin sinks back into the ground, and zey take a bite out of an apple before she offers one to Mort.

She shakes his hand, answering. "The name's Aspen Woods. It's nice to meet you." Zey release Mort's hand. "As for me rising out of the ground, I'm a Buried/End mixed Avatar. Hanging out near or in graveyards is kind of my thing."

Fine. The papers will be delivered shortly.
Do you work as a divorce lawyer? Me and @graves-and-dirt got married for tax reasons awhile back, but they've been irritating me recently, so I am considering getting a divorce.
@darkness-is-salty
Unfortunately, I'm not a divorce lawyer.
infact, I may not even be a modern day one. The definition of a "lawyer" has changed quite a bit ever since I came under the title (And foolishly made it my name).
However, I think I can handle a few divorce proceedings. How hard could it possibly be.
My first question of the matter is what has you so irate with your buried lover. (Or... tax-lover? I suppose)

Don't insult Rupert, he has more sense than you do, June! Do you want to get stuck in one of my coffins again?

Hello, I am Ariadne Jorogumo,weaver and lover of stories. Would you be interested in a deal?
I will make you a custom piece (blanket in your case) that will enhance your powers,
You will give a story or a piece of material coming from you/your dread powers (some dirt or a small lock of your hair),in return.
@orbweaver1010
I do in fact have a jar of grave dirt. I hope that is an acceptable deal, as I would like the blanket, thank you.

I'll bring along one of my coffins. That should do the job.
Lie down and have a little nap in the dirt, dear. Don't worry, the grave will accept you. Just close your eyes.
