CORRUPTION AND GRAFT
Corruption is one of the problem that we face today, it’s really disaster because the politician, they the one who can understand how poor our country is and there’s a lot of thing we need to improve to our country specially when it’s come to technology. Yes, this generation is surrounding technology but some of our technology is not good as the other. How can they improve they own be loving country if they still continue to stealing the fund that supposed to use in their own country?
Corruption is when they use their own power, money, and position to corrupt and when we say corruption it’s not all about stealing the funds, over time corruption has been defined differently. For example, in simple context, while performing work for a government or as a representative, any free gift is seen as an intention to seek certain favors such as work promotion, tipping in order to win a contract, job or exemption from certain tasks in the case of junior worker handing in the gift to a senior employee who can be key in winning the favor.
Corruption may facilitate criminal enterprise such as drug trafficking, money laundering and human trafficking. There are a lot of issues about millions of illegal drugs slipped past the bureau of custom. How they can they slipped past? Everyone wanting change for our country but things are easier said than done. Everyone waiting to improve our country but how can we change the system like this if we are still continuing this kind of trick?
GRAFT
Graft is a form of political corruption that involves the misdirection of public funds by a government official for the benefit of private interests. These interests are often private companies where the corrupt official owns a financial stake or has friend who will pay kickbacks or bribes in exchange for preferential treatment
TYPES OF COMMITING CORRUPTION
BRIBERY is a kind of corruption where they giving or offering to someone to do a favor it is popular to politicians because it is what corrupt often do.
INFLUENCE PEDDLING is using one’s influence in government or connections with persons in authority to obtain favors or preferential treatment for another.
EMBEZZLEMENT takes place when a person uses funds for a different purpose than they were intended to be used.Embezzlers might create bills and receipts for activities that did not occur and then use the money paid for personal expenses.
LOBBYING is a good example of big business using lobbyists to the cheat system. Lobbying have a big role in our country they get bills passed, politicians elected and national programs funded and how is it, that the one of our most politically influence groups is also one of the least trustworthy? " a citizen right to speak freely to impact decision and petition the government" and lobbying can be that simple But its not about the group or people petitioning (rale) for the issue they care about its also about a big business that carried out by professionals who are register with the government and are paid and theres a lot of issue about it.
EXTORTION is practice of obtaining something especially money through force or threat (blackmail). Robbery is the simplest and most common form of extortion.
PATRONAGE is where a party in power rewards groups, families, or ethnicities for their electoral support using illegal gifts or fraudulently awarded government appointments or contracts. sometimes money is used to get people inside and make what they want.

NEPOTISM, CRONYISM, AND PAROCHIALISM ARE CONNECTED TO EACH OTHER. Nepotism is the granting of favour to relatives. Nepotism and Cronyism are two forms of favoritism between which a key difference can be identified. Nepotism is favoritism shown to relatives or family members especially by giving them jobs. On the other hand, Cronyism is the favoritism shown to friends when appointing for new positions. Its talked about favoritism people will choose who will they support specially this incoming election we hear lot of comment about election and people support their relatives or friends. Its all about (kapit) power if you are running for position in politics and you have a relatives or friend in politics theres a tendency that person will win.
Our country faces many problems and one of them is corruption which is that is a really big problem because we know that our country lacks in financial assistance. Imagine, millions of our country funds are missing and no one know where the money is. Some politician used their own power and money to abuse our right, our rights to speak. They use their “power” and “money” to abuse people instead using it to protect and give the justice to those people in need. Most politicians use their power or position in government to corrupt. They know that many Filipinos are struggling nowadays but they only use poor for their pointless project. They will implement a project that costs o lot of money and that is supposedly help the poor but the truth is they only do that for themselves. And the project they implemented which costs a lot money “over price” very few people benefited form it because they only used that project to get money from the government.
I know that in our country there is a lot that we need to improve and develop specially in technology but if there is a project that they want to implement it is really required to over price that project? Some village, the road is not good as the other so the villagers having a hard time to go to town to buy their necessary needs. If they really don’t have a enough funds for this kind of necessary project? I know that it has a process before they can implement project but some cases they have enough funds for the project but still not finished yet.
We all aware that there is upcoming election, all the candidates have their own way how to handle our country, we hear a lot of promises. We also aware of the word buying vote, where the candidate pay for the vote or support of the people. How we can stop the corruption in our country if we are also accepting pays for the support they need. In this day, may the minds of every Filipinos be open, if we want to stop or let’s say lessen, let’s vote wisely and correctly, let’s give our vote and support to someone we can reliable, to someone can solve the problems we face today, to someone who can hear our voices and let’s vote to someone who really deserves that position.

And I’m still confuse how politicians can corrupt even though our country lacks in financial. Why they needed to corrupt if they receiving salaries, if their salaries aren’t enough for their personal needs so they will corrupt the funds of their own country? Do they feel guilty? How can they even corrupt if they have a record about in and out of the fund? How they can slip without noticing? if the other notice that some of the money are missing or they play dumb/act that they not notice? If they really want to improved our country? How can they steal the money that supposed to use to improved our country? They the one who can understand how poor the country is and still they have nerve to steal. Imagine what will happen to our country if corruption will continue.

Political corruption is the use of powers by government officials or their network contacts for illegitimate private gain.
Tumblr media
Corruption may facilitate criminal enterprise such as drug trafficking, money laundering, and human trafficking, though it is not restricted to these activities. Misuse of government power for other purposes, such as repression of political opponents and general police brutality, is also considered political corruption.
Over time, corruption has been defined differently. For example, in a simple context, while performing work for a government or as a representative, it is unethical to accept a gift. Any free gift could be construed as a scheme to lure the recipient towards some biases. In most cases, the gift is seen as an intention to seek certain favors such as work promotion, tipping in order to win a contract, job or exemption from certain tasks in the case of junior worker handing in the gift to a senior employee who can be key in winning the favor.
Some forms of corruption – now called "institutional corruption" are distinguished from bribery and other kinds of obvious personal gain. A similar problem of corruption arises in any institution that depends on financial support from people who have interests that may conflict with the primary purpose of the institution.
An illegal act by an officeholder constitutes political corruption only if the act is directly related to their official duties, is done under color of law or involves trading in influence.
The activities that constitute illegal corruption differ depending on the country or jurisdiction. For instance, some political funding practices that are legal in one place may be illegal in another. In some cases, government officials have broad or ill-defined powers, which make it difficult to distinguish between legal and illegal actions. Worldwide, bribery alone is estimated to involve over 1 trillion US dollars annually. A state of unrestrained political corruption is known as a kleptocracy, literally meaning "rule by thieves".
Graft
When government employees or elected officials allocate public funds, they are expected to act in the best interests of the public by awarding contracts to the most competitive bidders in a fair and honest procurement process.
When an official abuses their authority by undermining the procurement process and misdirecting public funds to benefit specific private interests, their actions may be characterized as political graft.
What is Graft?
Graft is a form of political corruption that involves the misdirection of public funds by a government official for the benefit of private interests.
These interests are often private companies where the corrupt official owns a financial stake or has friends who will pay kickbacks or bribes in exchange for preferential treatment.
Political grafting takes place in decision-making situations where public officials are directed to choose a supplier for goods and services or select the winning bid for a government contract. A corrupt official would award the lucrative contract to a “friendly” company, often at a cost that substantially exceeds the fair market rate.
This “friendly” company might then compensate the corrupt official with a financial kickback or pay bribes to other government officials to continue circumventing proper oversight.
