"In 1979, Bauhaus released the first vommercially successful goth rock single, the iconic post-punk song Bela Legosi's Dead. It was released as a single on vinyl with Boys as the B-side. This album is a release of the entire original recording session almost 40 years later."

"I don't know why the albums are so hard to find, because Light Asylum is still actively touring and raving and being (over?)played in goth clubs. Believe it or not, the only four videos on the official YouTube channel are the entire In Tension album release. It includes the iconic single Dark Allies, which shows off Shannon Funchess' powerful performance style. (And the video shows off her touch of madness and shamelessness, which every decent artist needs.)"

Goth Listening Club Day #55: This Mortal Coil - It'll End In Tears

"Conceived by Ivo Watts-Russell, co-founder of (at the time) dreamy gothic label 4AD, This Mortal Coil was a collaboration of him and many other artists signed to 4AD (Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, The Wolfgang Press), and even some not signed to 4AD but that he knew personally (such as Cindy Gordon). They covered songs Ivo was into and listening to at the time, in the classic ethereal 4AD sound. "It'll End In Tears" includes their most well-known and beautiful tracks. This Mortal Coil and 4AD have some of the most interesting goth music history there is."Another Day", sung by Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, is my favorite track on this album :)"

They've had a career for fifty years. They're genre vagabonds. I wanted to link ACR:Box but didn't think a 4 and a half hour of B-sides would be accepted. Warning: every single album is a different experience entirely."

Goth Listening Club Day #53: Dobri Isak - Mi plačemo iza tamnih naočara

"Some ex-yugo postpunk! It's very hard to find goth/postpunk bands in the area of former yugoslavia but these guys really piqued my interest! Would especially recommend their song Dozvoli Mi Da Ostanem U Tvome Krevetu. Last I checked they're from somewhere around 1986 but the release date on spotify is a bit off. Unfortunately they only released one album (due to the death of a band member). Their music perfectly captures the fatalistic attitude of late 80s yugoslavia, it's a prime example of that good old slavic sadness!"
