I tried Spot Dessert Bar in St Marks Place for the first time tonight and I was beyond impressed. This Asian-inspired dessert joint is filled with eclectic dessert options as well as the classics, including cookies and cupcakes, to name a few. I decided to go full throttle by choosing their signature chocolate green tea lava cake. This bad boy, pictured above, is a chocolate soufflé with a chocolate and green tea ganache filling alongside a scoop of green tea ice cream. After devouring the dish in less than five minutes, it only made sense to declare it one of the best desserts I’ve ever eaten.
What made the experience even better was the fact that I ordered and received the dessert in less than 10 minutes! Going to Spot Dessert Bar for a quick and sinfully sweet dessert was the perfect end to a hectic day.

Make your own chocolate covered pretzels at home in minutes by melting down a Hershey's chocolate bar and dipping your favorite salty treats inside the pot of melted, chocolately goodness! After dipping, place the chocolate covered pretzels on a baking pan, let them cool and harden in the fridge for roughly 15 minutes, then enjoy!

Basics Made Better
Tumblr media
It’s that time of year again. “Finals Week,” “Crunch Time,” or whatever you like to call it, the end of spring semester for college students is always horrifically frantic. Between balancing work and classes as well as studying for final exams, writing final papers, and working on final projects, having time to eat anything other than a cup of ramen noodles seems highly unlikely. That’s when the “Basics Made Better” strategy comes into play! Why not enjoy easy-to-make, tasty favorites by adding some pizazz to your quick dishes as a way to treat yourself for your hard work and dedication as the end of the semester approaches? There's no harm in getting creative with your seemingly basic culinary skills and taking a break from your studies to enjoy a tasty homemade dish that's easy to make!
Today, in the midst of writing a research paper and getting some work done for my internship, I used the “Basics Made Better” strategy when making myself a classic grilled cheese sandwich for lunch. A basic gooey, American-cheesy grilled cheese sandwich is instantly improved with just one ingredient: ham! When constructing my grilled cheese sandwich in a butter-filled skillet, I added a few thin slices of cold cut ham in between two slices of American cheese on white bread: the perfect way to make my basic grilled cheese sandwich… better!
The sandwich reverted me back to my childhood days and gave me a much needed feeling of comfort that helped me conquer my studies for the day.
Kudos to “Basics Made Better” and happy studying!

Restaurant Favorites In Your Own Pantry!
Tumblr media
You know the feeling.  Your craving for a favorite restaurant dish is so intense, that you can actually almost taste it.  It’s all you can think about all day, but due to a lack of time, convenience or cash, you aren’t able to satisfy that craving by going to the restaurant.  Maybe it’s Spicy Garlic Wings from Buffalo Wild Wings, a Waffle from Wafels and Dinges or the famous Olive Garden salad that you crave.
Many restaurants now have a product line of some of their most popular items, such as sauces, toppings and salad dressings.  Buffalo Wild Wings offers a wide assortment of the sauces and seasonings that their chain is known for.  Wafels and Dinges sells bottles of the often-craved speculoos spread right at their carts, and Costco and Sam’s Club sells the ever-popular Olive Garden dressing.  This is to name but a few of the many restaurant products that can be used to replicate the experience of your favorite restaurant at home.
As a college student, these products are also a great way to spice up cafeteria fare.  Tired of chicken fingers from the café?  Simply adding some Buffalo Wild Wings sauce makes a tired dish seem new.  No time to walk to the nearest waffle cart?  A stock of prepackaged Belgian waffles with a spread of speculoos can satisfy that craving without leaving your room!  So the next time you are at your favorite restaurant, take note of the bottled products available.  You won’t  be sorry you did!

Pret A Manger
When you are on your lunch hour in NY and only have 30 mins or less, stop by Pret A Manger. you can grab a quick salad or sandwich freshly made that day. Their 9-grain bread is handmade at a family bakery and features some delicious sandwiches such as the Californian club and balsamic chicken and avocado. The salads are freshly made using Earthbound Farm Organic romaine lettuce and baby leaf blends. I personally love the wraps like the bang bang chicken. They also have baguettes and a selection of hot food and deserts to top off your lunch. There are many Manhattan locations that make it convenient wherever you are in the city.
