he catches the paper bags before something can happen to them, a vague sense of being startled surrounding him before it melts into that cheery disposition specific to bokuto’s existence. atsumu is someone who expects a lot of things             it’s in his nature as someone hungry, greedy for the very best, but presents were something he rarely ever thought he’d see. “ya didn’t have to get me so much, bokkun,” atsumu says, except he’s already looking inside the bags with the same enthusiasm as atsumu, but at ten years old. 

and if he gets a little misty-eyed looking at what was inside, then that was no one’s business except his. “bokkun, ya got me so many things,” he says, looking up with a grin. he can already see himself wearing the t-shirts, sticking the keychain onto his most used bag (and consequently checking it every few minutes to make sure it was still securely attached,) using the stationary and camera as regularly as he could. the gifts were of a practical kind, and something about the idea of being thought of makes him smile. “ya really didn’t have to... wanna break out the camera and be the first person i take a photo of?”

"so, a little birdie told me it's your birthday?" it's total bullshit given how miyuki already knew it and knew it long enough to get the other a gift, but still. he all but drops his gift into the other's hands, which was just a pile of tickets to various restaurants and concerts, and if atsumu had a keen eye, a ticket to miyuki's next game. "didn't know what you liked so I got you a bunch of tickets, hope it works." and if miyuki gave him a quick kiss? well, that was their secret.          //         @isolov

atsumu laughs like there’s a secret between his teeth (and he supposes there is, sweet and citric, miyuki but condensed into something familiar and bite-sized) as he assesses the pile before him. “ya sure went all out, hm?” he says, sounding nothing but genuinely appreciative. there was something about receiving gifts all to yourself, and as the older twin brother who spent the first formative years of his life getting one gift and seeing his brother get the exact same one, the pile made him smile a little bigger than usual.

“ya hang out with me all the time, how’d ya not figure out what i like at this point?” a teasing comment disguised behind the veil of a grin. he’s spotted the stand-out ticket and pulls it, staring at the printed writing until it registers what exactly he’s looking at. “this is... ya want me to go?” that slow grin of his expands, fills the room with moonlight until the pile drops from his hands, hands that have curled around the fabric of miyuki’s shirt to pull him close into a kiss. “i’ll be the loudest person cheerin’, promise.”
