Okay, so my ask was about fanfics where either John or Sherlock hallucinates and sees the other one after him (allegedly?) dying. As in, actually hallucinates, not mistakes a real one for a hallucination. Have you encountered anything like that?

“The Heart of the Conspiracy”

Hey y’all :) I know some of us have been throwing around the idea of a TJLC tattoo, so I wanted to add my contribution: a heart made out of the letters tjlc.

The blue and red colors are chosen to resemble a diagram of a real human heart- twisty aorta (the cursive “L” at the top) and all- and to make it look like the cables from the traincar heart bomb in “The Empty Hearse”.

On a practical note: it’s simple, so it should be less expensive and easier to replicate. It’s also pretty flexible- it could be different colors or plain black, with the space between letters or without, depending on what you’re looking for (the one I drew on my wrist being an extremely simple and discreet example).

“Did Sherlock really forgive Mary for the events in HLV?” No, and here’s why.

When Mary shoots Sherlock, he gives her a way out. She has legitimately no reason to refuse his help in this moment. Absolutely none. Please, enlighten me if you can think of one.

[Mary]: Oh, if you take one more step, Sherlock, I swear I will kill you.

[Sherlock] “No, Mrs Watson. You won’t.”

It’s an appeal to the side of her that loves John Watson. That’s why he says that, and not “Mary”. Because she has seen what John went through when Sherlock supposedly committed suicide and he assumes she won’t let John go through that again. But when he takes that step, after he saw the flurry of deductions around her head all dissolve into the word liar and was still offering his help, she shoots him in the chest.

Now, we’ve seen that his retelling of this doesn’t match up with what actually happened (i.e. she was still pointing the gun at Magnussen when he lost consciousness and was, you know, dying). Also, we know that he never mentions to John that she threatened him, he never says that he offered his help and that she shot him anyway. But what we also know is that he never does a second set of deductions to get those other words back. He’s lying in the hospital and still only sees the word liar. She threatens him while he’s lying there, vulnerable. Who else did that in a deleted scene? Magnussen. A villain. (Another “M”!). He walks around her in his mind palace and she looks on coldly. A villain’s stance with an unsettling stare.  

Another thing, when Sherlock goes to find John in his mind palace (Mary is automatically associated with John, there is no other reason for her to be in that wing of his mind palace in the place which looks identical to where John saved his life in ASiP), Mary is wearing her wedding dress and shoots him in the chest once again. He’s screaming in pain here. She did that to him. He flatlines. There’s nothing redeemable about her actions. 

And when she says “.. and I would lose him forever. And Sherlock, there is nothing in this world I would not do to stop that happening.” It is a look of disgust on his face. Because her love is not selfless. She is willing to lie and lie just to keep someone. She’s willing to kill Sherlock and put John through hell again just to keep him. That is not healthy or romantic.

As Amanda Abbington so helpfully put it: “she’s a psychopath!”

And Steven Moffat: “… she’s just been revealed to be a villain!”

So, are we all of a sudden meant to assume that Sherlock forgave her? That John forgave her? Of course not.

(Also, Season 4 is fake.)

got damn mofftiss and their long term plan!!!!!!!

OF COURSE they knew the three garridebs wouldn’t be in the public domain until 2020. and OF COURSE they wanted the love confession to be that since they’re always going on about how it is their favourite bit. they planned this whole thing and now we have the escape room and monthly episode screenings to keep people interested until the curtain rises and we are ready to begin.

and not only are they righting the thing that ‘everyone got wrong’ which isn’t the romance (if anything that’s what people have been getting Right even if no one has had the guts to make it explicit) but the unreliable narration AND they created the backlash by apparently killing sherlock the show in the final problem like doyle did.

it’s so obvious now what the entire hell hindsight is 20/20.

G-d we were rly robbed w the complexities we could have gotten from a trans John. Him having beef w the medical field, his relationship w Harry and the unique dynamic and nuances of having another LGBT sibling, wanting be seen as strong and powerful bc ppl had denied him his masculinity, his relationship w his parents and why he doesn’t talk abt them, an explanation for his erratic characterization, the layers behind his interactions with other characters, like… WE COULD HAVE HAD IT ALL

anyway Sherlock Holmes is public domain so catch me writing a story in which Holmes’ seemingly timeless nature is explained in canon as Holmes being a restless preternatural entity discovered (summoned?) by the original Dr. Watson, who acted as its companion/custodian as it careened around doing the only thing that could preoccupy its wildly inhuman mind, ie, getting all up in people’s business and freaking them out with how much shit it knows.

the Holmes entity can die, but always reappears within a generation and without fail seeking out the latest in the Watson line. the Watsons, grown savvy over time, now devote much of their time to a.) preparing the younger members of the family for Holmes’ inevitable return or b.) desperately trying to get the hell out of dodge and live a normal life before it can happen to them as well. 

just uuuuh. like a very knowing story about the inevitability of the Holmes and Watson story, centered a creepily inhuman Holmes and the long-suffering family who have spent more than a century documenting it.
