A comment of mine on a friend’s post about bowties not being cool…. —- Bow ties are perfectly more functional (safety wise) than a necktie (even with tie clips) - while keeping a clean, buttoned collared look. In all fairness, I see why people like Bill Nye sport the look.

A scientist doing experiments, such as Bill Nye, definitely appreciates this along with any other profession that gets into experimentation with equipment, materials, and other dangerous things that cannot have loose articles of clothing get caught in - while still being presentable as a bonus.
