"All right..." Settling back, Belle crossed one leg over the other. "So down in New Orleans there's this convent. St. Ursulines. And during the 1800s, girls would come over from Europe. Come to get married. Or look for a job. Teach. And when they'd come over, they'd stay in this convent -- the sisters acting as sort of chaperones. BUT...bout the time these girls started coming over, a sickness of sorts hit New Orleans. People dropping dead. Drained of their blood. And these girls...no one ever really saw them out during the day. Little suspicious, no? Even more suspicious was the fact they carried 'trunks' with them from Europe." And yes, Belle did include the air quotes.

"Trunks that looked a whole hell of a lot like caskets. Hence their name."

Noah nodded along and bit his tongue, giving her time to speak fully and freely. This pained him slightly, as questions about these supposed vampire girls arose, still he kept silent. His eyes lighting up with delight at the idea of stories like that. "That's good." Noah said. "I'm glad you're happy here." His eyes drifted downward as he realized he could not entirely say the same for himself.

"So... tell me one of the stories." Noah leaned in with anticipation. "About the girls in the covent... the ones that may or may not have been vampires." His smile drifted up into his eyes. True and genuine, yell well posed... as if it were a practiced expression.

The good thing was that a lot of televisions were color coded when it came to set up. The ends of the various wires were colored and they went into slots of the same color. So as long as he knew his colors...they were going to be okay.

The hard part was locating the place on the switch's dock where the power cord went. It was literally hidden behind a panel and attempting to locate it nearly sent Talia into a toddler style tantrum. The box all but punt kicked across the living room as she decided it offered no help whatsoever.

Grabbing her marker, she wrote a giant UGH on her whiteboard.

Steve had cleared a lot of his week so he'd be around while Talia recovered. He tried not to hover, but as long as she was sick, he was going to make himself available. He had the rest of the day to spend learning this game and bringing her tea and making her soup and growling at anything that tried to wake her while she was resting.

He wasn't counting on this being intuitive to him, but he was game to try. He'd carefully pulled the TV away from the wall while she was unboxing so he could fit the cords in. Steve might not be the tech genius that Tony was, but he knew enough of the basics to get by.

"It's nice. We're not like super close thanks to the age gap, but she's always been there when we needed her." Like when Nate and his girlfriend brought home a baby...one created by Sinister from their DNA.

"A garden! That sounds lovely. You'd probably enjoy the grounds at the Keep. There's lost of gardens there. Fields full of heather..."

Cass' eyes shifted away as he fell into thought, the attention now painfully back on him. "You have a sister. What's that like?" Cass was an only child and he liked to think he preferred it that way. "Oh..." he added pensively, "I'd probably be back home in the California mountains. Hiking and climbing. Maybe I'd have a garden." He almost looked distracted now, but he was certainly still paying attention. He simply was feigning disinterest.

"A nap?" Sandra did her best to look affronted by the suggestion. "Ma. I'm not a little girl anymore. I don't need a nap. Just...tea..." Tea and a brief moment to rest her eyes. Not a nap! Just a brief moment... Then she'd be ready and raring to go. Really.

A hum from Emma. She made it a habit to not dive into her children's minds. So she didn't noticed Sandra's defenses sliding into place. "A nap is what you need. The others are a stop gap." She said. "We can continue tomorrow unless there is something on your mind."

"Well...if the inhibitor comes out, I think I'm going to need more...one on one style training." Being Emma's daughter, Sandra's abilities had manifested at an early age. And at that early age it had been apparent that she was going to be powerful. Just like her mother.

Actually, it had been apparent that both she AND her brother would be powerful. But while Nate's lungs were threatening to bring down the ancient stones of the Keep...Sandra had voices in her head. The thoughts and feelings of everyone in a 20 mile radius.

The inhibitor had allowed her to tone it down. To live peacefully while she began her training. But she was nearly an adult now and so...

It was time. Time to take it out and see what the full extent of her powers was.

Raising her head to look at her mother, Sandra nodded -- hoping her mother wouldn't notice the mental blocks sliding into place. There had been no mission. Not even a training session. She had gone out with Chris...fueled by Aimee, who also had dragged Nate out. Apparently 'the city had been calling'.

"I just need some caffeine. Bit of tea and I'll be right as rain. Promise."

"Mmmmhmmm. On Ursulines. Short walk from the river. There used t' be a convent round those parts and when I was little, my Daddy used to tell me stories of the girls who lived there. Some said they were vampires..." Belle's accent varied -- depending on her mood and who she was talking to. While most of the time she preferred the more genteel New Orleans accent, from time to time the Bayou in her background did manage to show through.

"I do like being here, with my friends." Friends who, at this point, were more like family. "Seeing the relatives are nice but this is my home now. Has been since the day the boys and I first moved in."

Noah's eyes danced across her face, still studying her soft features while she spoke. He'd been practicing active listening and tried extra hard to hone this skill when it came to pretty girls. As she painted a picture of her extended family, Noah tried to imagine them in New Orleans... "Do you mean the French Quarter?" he asked, genuinely wanting to be sure he'd placed her accent correctly.

"So do you prefer Georgia with family or to be here with friends?" Noah followed up. Her life seemed to be much more interesting than his, he'd already experienced his own life and despite having wild tales to tell... he'd told them all a million times. Belle, however, was shiney and new, her mind was uncharted territory. This drew Noah in.
