unrelated to BD but god I hate how ppl think shipping is synonymous with “I want/expect this to be canon”

Like if I say I ship something and someone responds like “oh silly you that will never be canon” like cool i dont care? I don’t ship things cause I want them to be canon. I literally just ship for fun cause I enjoy those characters’ dynamics. Hell sometimes I prefer canon staying the way it is and consider shipping as more of a fun AU thing.

At the end of episode 9 we get this line from Kazuki about how his back hurts (probably from carrying all the shit he brought to the field day)

And earlier today we got another one of these notes that’s shown to be 🔵->🔴 (Rei -> Kazuki)

Basically translating to “I bought a compress”

Meaning Rei literally bought a compress for Kazuki all because he mentioned his back hurting at the end of last episode

When I tell you it’s too early in the morning for me to be getting emotional over this family again 🥺

Thinking about the beginning of episode 6 how Kazuki says he's gonna be a proper parent to Miri or something like that, and then Rei says "well good luck" and Kazuki is like "hey you too!!". Then when Kazuki tries to talk to Miri about the "fight", Rei keeps playing games and doesn't get involved, just offering the occasional quip lol

Then episode 7 is the boiling point of Rei not doing enough and Kazuki becoming overwhelmed, and when Miri gets sick Rei realizes "I can't do anything" and is frustrated with himself. And then of course episode 8 is a big turning point for Rei in how he sees Miri and Kazuki as a family he wants to protect.

AND THEN HERE COMES EPISODE 9 where for the entire episode we see how Rei wants to do the "proper parent things" but is unsure how but is genuinely trying. His cheering slowly getting louder and then how bad he feels afterwards, the deformed onigiri he was insecure about showing, his crazy parent side being awakened, ALL THE SMILES.... FAMILY.....😭😭😭

Anyways all this to say that Rei's character arc has been so well written and soo rewarding to watch over the last eps. Love how the episodes have been subtle but consistent in showing this little family's growth, the continuity has been really good. And now I can't wait for the emotional rollercoaster this last stretch of the show will surely be :')

buddy daddies is so so good esp because the writing is god tier.. it doesn’t do anything too amazing incredible but what it already does, it does well??? all the writing choices smoothly flow into one another and each episodes connects so well to the next, not a single character is useless and they delve SO beautifully into each character, making sure to draw the viewers attention to every detail regarding their past and how it affects their present even in the smallest amounts,, the way my heart crumbled at rei and kazuki experiencing sports day at school for the first time and how it showed how inexperienced and new they were to these ‘normal’ events and yet how deeply they treasured every second of their little lives with little miri, rei feeling insecure and out of place surrounded by all these people, having grown up in a n incredibly tense and terrifying place, and rei slowly focussing all his attention on miri and kazuki and being overwhelmed with his love for his family such that it’s the only thing that truly matters now regardless of how uncomfortable he is in those environments ………. kazuki noticing and and threading into his heart every step that rei takes forward from the person he was the day kazuki met him, even miri gasping in surprise at the sound of her rei papa’s voice echoing aloud from far away….. this anime is so so so EMOTIONAL the writers place utmost importance on every emotion sparked by even the smallest of situations and it’s so intricate and moving and profound to see the production treat these broken characters with such care ……… like i see you and your insecurities and everything in life that hurt you but know that you are loved !!! you are capable of being loved and loving in return !!!!!!! is that not so beautiful my heart is shattering i love this show so much

Episode synopsis:

Miri, Kazuki, and Rei are practising sprints in the park; Miri is eager to win a gold medal. Kazuki and Rei have never taken part in anything like children’s sports day, but Kazuki prepares a sumptuous bento, and Rei, who has gone to extreme lengths to save their seats, also offers to make onigiri for Miri. When sports day finally begins, the children and their guardians are all excited, and Kazuki and Rei’s handmade bento receive rave reviews at lunch. And then it’s finally time for Miri’s eagerly-awaited foot race. something about the way rei looks at miri when she can’t see, something about his entire expression softening as he watches her sleep—after spending the whole day wrestling with himself over his responsibilities versus his heart, he gets to come home and see that his daughter loves him so much that she spent all that time without him doing everything in her tiny little four year old power just to see him smile, and isn’t even awake to see it when her efforts genuinely pay off, that he loves her, too, so much that it breaks through all his hard-walled barriers

Honestly, I don’t really think spy x family and buddy daddies are as similar as many people think. Yeah the foundation (child raising by two people who work in the underground) is similar but the plots and premises are very different. Spy x family focuses heavily on external politics and is about what happens when you put an unpredictable child in the middle of them while buddy daddies focuses on the internal workings of two guys suddenly finding a child on their hands and having to suddenly figure out how to navigate parenthood. Both have elements of found family at their hearts, but the stories themselves are vastly different. I really think that if sxf and bd had a larger gap between their airtimes, people wouldn’t be comparing them nearly at the amount people are now.

#yeah unfortunately i think the airing time is the main culprit lol #sxf did not invent the 'criminal adopts kid' trope #even if it had bd is such a completely different execution of it ajsjdj #anyways love both shows. sxf is more of a casual watch for me while bd gave me brainworms #but thats purely my personal preference not a judgement of which show is 'better'(which is hard to compare cause again. theyre v different)

no new ep but at least the dub of the best ep will be out right.... i literally never watch dubbed anime but i've been watching the dub as bonus material pretty much. this is how you know an anime's made me fully insane

#6 is the perfect comfort ep to rewatch tbh its got everything. kazuki being unhinged. him and rei being a comedy duo. alpacas. #but also ep 8 went hard on the emotional plot content #so those two are my faves ajsjjd
