buffy is SO constantly put on the "gotta make everyone else feel better by being sunshiny and capable and fine all the time" pedestal, that she'll lie to all of her friends and tell them they brought her back from a hell dimension to avoid making them feel bad, when she was actually brought back from some kind of heavenly place where she'd finally found peace -- and it's oddly similar to anne on this watch (s2 ending and s5 ending have a certain echo to me), when she's gone to take care of herself and everyone falls to pieces without her, and it is considered her job to coddle them and she is judged if she doesn't feel sufficiently well, they do have an expectation about her as a pillar of stability, even right after she's been brought back from the dead and made to dig her way out of her coffin (willow saying she feels let down that buffy wasn't being grateful from the beginning is the real indicator of the beginning of willow's villain-arc), and buffy instinctively knows this at this point, so the second she has the ability to... speak full sentences... she uses those to express her gratitude so that they feel okay

i've never fully fleshed out my 'the bear' verse so here's my attempt at doing so !! essentially picking up from btvs season 2 finale / s3ep1 'anne' buffy's a solidified high school drop out and has no plans on going back home, so she finds a job and maybe does back of house stuff at the original beef for mikey awhile , like i imagine him taking her under his wing kind of and her eventually looking at him like a brother rip ..</3 even more terrible when considering she has no family no RIPPPP ( also specifically i thought dishwashing to start and then she works her way up ) and her whole deal here is like , staying under the radar as much as she can , vamp slaying becomes a side thing like its done as a release !! everyone around her kind of feels like she's sus sometimes bc here's this weird girl always keeping to herself but also can do the weirdest heavy lifting and is just generally good at so much them not knowing she has literal super powers but thts ok. richie probably WOULD think she's in some kind of gang / might be the most suspicious of her but mikey likes her so it doesn't matter sjiefjeirj and she hears abt carmy all the time but doesn't get the hype and ofc she's cold to him + syd when mikey passes. eventually ofc warms up to them and maybe they see potential in her and want her to do front of house stuff at the bear !! and wanna see her happy !! and thriving !!
