i use my bike to commute to work. i made sure the route i take to and from spends as much time as possible on bike paths because the best place to be is not in the path of a car. and i can say cyclists are the absolute worst.

in my city, we have the “slow roll” from late spring to usually october, and it’s the inverse of the op’s problem: a slow-motion stampede of affluent suburbanites who don’t know shit about riding with traffic—let alone in an urban setting. i’ve seen these chuds block intersections for fifteen minutes. fucking with peoples’ livelihoods so they could do some poverty tourism.

one year, the “organizers” planned a route that went by a hospital AND BLOCKED THE RAMP TO THE ER FOR 10-15 MINUTES. a fucking eternity for ER patients. and this highlights why cyclists are reviled. they’re not there to commute, more often than not aren’t familiar with the area, don’t follow traffic laws, and move in groups too large to safely pass. not to protest. not to advocate for infrastructure to make it safer to commute by bicycle. just because they feel entitled to it. fuck cyclists. all the fancy gear and bike shorts in the world and zero consideration for others.

I know that cycling is fun and good for you and all but goddamn nothing is more frustrating than getting stuck behind squadrons of cyclists on winding rural roads with no way to pass them for miles. Please… some of us live here… we have to get to work…
