It is already our sixth city tour destination. I did learned a lot about the history of Iloilo City. I also appreciate it how it evolve way back then up until now. It literally grown into something that can captivates tourist to visit. The trip was not to long and definitely an awesome one. I enjoyed the ride until our bus stop in J.M. Basa street Iloilo, City. As the bus stop, our tour guide told us to not touch things inside the museum and be careful as we roam around. After of important instructions we get off the bus and line up. At first we do briefing for instructions about the said museum and tadaa they tour us inside the museum and as I see all the antique things of our ancestors. I was amazed on how they made a such beautiful piece of craft. And they very talented. According to Museum of Philippine Economic History post in google, their permanent collections are:

All of the above mentioned collections are discussed to us briefly by the tour guide. We also given a chance to take a picture for ourself but not the things inside the museum because it is strictly prohibited.

JARO METROPOLITAN CATHEDRAL
Tumblr media
"A prominent historical attraction for pilgrims of Lady Candelaria"
It was a chill sunny morning, our city tour paves it way. After an hour of waiting for my schoolmates we proceed to our assigned city tour bus. By the way our City Tour was all about the historic attractions here in our Province the City of Love, Iloilo, City. The atmosphere was calm and sort of relaxing. I literally enjoy the vibe of riding a bus with not just my circle of friends for the first of my life. But as well I enjoyed it because of our tour guide's trivias, question and answer portion along our trip. The reason why me and my classmates are attentive. The trip continues to travel until the bus ceased in our second destination. I look at the window and saw The Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral (Church of St. Elizabeth of Hungary). Our tour guide told us that it was built in 1864, the year of the district was named a diocese by Pope Pius the IX, by order of His Grace Mariano Cuartero, first bishop of Jaro. He added that, quake destroyed it in January 1948 and restored by order of His Excellency Jose Ma. Cuenco, first archbishop of Jaro in 1956. After of little brief history of the church our tour guide gave us fifteen minutes to roam around. We get off ourselves and settle in our own way to roam around. I this chance to take a look and appreciate the one of the so called famous cathedral here in Iloilo. I scanned my eyes to the historic structure in front of me. As I roam around I got to observe the style of it which is basically Baroque, with the addition of Gothic elements over many renovations. It's interior inside was full of heavenly saints. Which Catholics like me do also believe for their miracles. It was as if you are with them in heaven. It is a quiet and relaxing place for self restoration, peace and a place of worship to our Almighty God. In it's outward facade, there is a staircase with balustrade at the both sides. And due to my curiosity on what's the feeling upside of the two story structure I start to lift up my foot in the stairway even if my heart palpitates in it's abnormal state because of nervous due to height fright . But as I land my foot at the top of it, cold wind welcomed and embrace my skin. To my surprised I saw how aesthetic the scenery infront of me. Wherein, I can see distinctive skycrapers in my right and left side, the old Jaro Cathedral Church and Jaro Plaza in front and a figure of Lady Candelaria inside the glass cabinet. Wherein many Illonggo's believed that she can do miracle. Jaro people also celebrates Lady Candelaria feast every February 2 of the year. "Ghe An naog na, mapanaw na ta sa next destination sang tour ta siling ni Sir", one of my friends said. So I followed her and go back inside the bus.
As I settle down in my designated seat I realized that Jaro Cathedral or Famous historical sites for pilgrims of our Lady of Candles" was my so far one of the most favorite place we visited in our city tour.
In addition to above mentioned, Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral (The National Shrine of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria was located infront of Jaro Plaza, Jaro Iloilo, City. It is a place wherein, a lot of tourists and devotees want to visit. In addition to this panayisland.com stated in their page that Jaro Cathedral was " one of Iloilo City's cherished icons and the said church represents as the center of faith in the region for centuries".
How to get there?
From the third district:
• Ride in a jeep for 45 minutes and get off at GT town mall Pavia, Iloilo
