Note: Hello, thanks for your request, anon! This is my fifth day posting consecutively and it's also the LAST request for the 200 Followers Event! That being said, I'll be moving on to the 500's ones and other requests soon enough :DD However, I have exams coming up in the next few days so I might be offline for a while! I went overboard with this one but it's really angsty in the beginning but the ending is happy though! By the way, "Y/N/N" is the reader's nickname. Enjoy!

You two caught up in a heated argument all because of a ridiculous matter over spilled water—your old flame came back to Suna. The man cut all ties with you back when you just graduated from the Ninja Academy. You were never involved in a romantic relationship with him from the beginning. However, flashing a smile at your old classmate was considered a betrayal in the eyes of a very certain red-haired. For worse, you even hugged him, but it was a friendly hug of old friends reuniting after a long time.

His office was peculiarly chilly when you entered after the incident, completely unaware that Gaara witnessed the whole scene not long ago. You spotted something odd about his behavior as you tittered to his desk, propping your face up in your hands, placing your elbows on the surface for support. You blinked your eyes, looking at him with confusion, “What’s wrong? Why giving me the cold shoulder all of a sudden?”

He pretended as if your words were thrown outside the windows and continued to focus on reading documents. Yet, Gaara’s eyes stayed glued on one page for the next five minutes without any sign of flipping to the next, and you knew there was definitely a problem. However, you could not recall what you did wrong, sitting down on the couch across from his desk in disdain.

“Gaara?” You fiddled your fingers and chirped after a long while.

He refused to look up, “Leave.”

“What?” Your eyes widened when you finally registered his word.

“Didn’t you hear me?” He glared, “I told you to leave, Y/N. Now.”

“I came to come back with you for dinner,” you stuttered, “I’ve prepared—”

“Leave,” he shouted, and you leaped in your seat, tears brimming your eyes as you shuffled to the door.

You did not dare to speak another word, wearily turning the knob and shutting the door quietly. On your way out, your shoulders shook uncontrollably as you tried your best to remain composed but to no avail.

“Y/N/N?” It was your old friend that just came back who was called to Gaara’s office. He stepped forward and gasped when he saw your face stained with tears, eyes all red and puffy. At that moment, you seemed to have understood everything—Gaara must have seen your interactions with him.

“You’re going to the Kazekage’s office?”

“Yes,” he replied, “are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” you nodded, “I’ll come with you. I have something to tell him, too.”

You needed to explain to Gaara that you were merely old friends. Returning to his office for the second time, it did not feel any warmer in there. You clutched on the hem of your shirts with trembling fists, and it did not go unnoticed by the red-haired.

“Why are you here?” He lifted his head and cast you a glance with fury.

You gulped, “I-I need to explain—”

“Didn’t I tell you to leave, Y/N? I don’t need to hear anything from you.” His voice was icy and distant, “What part of that do you not understand?”

Your friend, who was standing right beside you, could not endure the tension and was infuriated by seeing you sobbing earlier, “Kazekage-sama. I don’t know what’s going on between you and Y/N/N, but she was crying when she walked out of your office just then.”

“Oh?” He chuckled lowly, “You’re addressing her by her nickname, huh? How intimate.”

“You’ve got it wrong, Gaara.” You shifted on your feet, “There’s nothing going on between us—”

He did not let you finish your sentence, “Hah! So now the two of are here to put on a show for me? Acting all lovey-dovey and protecting one another?”

Gaara felt a sharp pain piercing through his heart when you hugged that man in front of his eyes. Betrayal was a dark past of his and he thought he would not experience the agony again when you came to his life. Yet, you—the person he loved and trusted with all his heart—turned your back against him. At the thought of you being close to another man but him, the fire in his stomach just flamed brighter, and more malicious.

Tears were streaming down your face by then. You had never seen him like this, never in ten years being his friend, his subordinate, and eventually, his love. Your effort in explaining could not clear your misunderstanding when he was unwilling to listen to a single word you desperately wanted to strike. You bit on your lip and moved backward with shaking legs, almost tumbling, “Okay, I’ll leave. I won’t disturb you. I’m sorry.”

You came back to your shared apartment alone. Dinner was long cool and you had no appetite to take a bite. You sat and stared blankly into the space before your sight, recalling the events that happened in the last hour. Tears continued to trickle down your cheeks, dropping onto the dining table as you cried your heart out. Soon, it was ten o'clock and you tiredly got up, figured that Gaara would not come back. But you still heated the food with a slight hope that he would return to your home.

Another day passed like that and you did not dare show up in front of him. Your meals were infrequent and your life seemed to be out of place from the moment Gaara demanded you to disappear from his sight. You were like a ship that had lost its direction, letting the wind and waves to take over its sail. Your face was pale and your lips were chapped, your nights were sleepless and your pillow was dampened with tears. All you did was to throw yourself into work, hoping that it would occupy your mind in replacement for a special red-haired.

With the lack of proper nutrition and rest, you caught a high fever and had to stay bedridden for a whole day. When you were drifting in and out of sleep, all you wanted was for Gaara to be here and cradle you in his arms. You felt abandoned, tossing and turning around in your bed, forehead beaded with cold sweats as your arms and legs went limp. The baggy shirt that you wore to bed was drenched, and you had no choice but to get up to change into a new one to not severe the sickness. When you sat up from your bed, you spotted a familiar figure standing in the doorway, yet, you thought it was your hallucination due to the high fever.

You wobbled to your closet and leaned against it for support. Then, you felt warmth draping over the back of your hand and Gaara dipped his face in the crook of your neck. You jumped in surprise, your voice was hoarse, “Gaara?”

“I’m sorry,” he mumbled.

Your eyes softened when he embraced you in his strong arms. You hastily turned around and wrapped your little hands behind his back, hugging him greedily. You sniffed, “Please, don’t leave me. I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

“I know, I know.” He soothed and lifted you up, carrying you back to bed, “I’ll stay here with you. Don’t worry.”

With his confirmation, you peacefully let go of his shirt and fully relaxed your body. Gaara moved in next to you and pulled you close to his chest, kissing your temple lovingly. The past few days for him were as strenuous as they were for you, but he certainly realized how important you were in his heart. The moment he saw you struggling to hold back your tears in his office, he wanted to smash the closest object to his free hands. The moment he saw you closing the door behind your back, he wanted to leap up and chase after your retreating figure. He knew he had wronged you and he had let those reconciliatory opportunities go. However, he would not let you go this time. You were forever his light, forever.

Gaara - being as important as he is, Gaara is usually a very busy guy. Be that as it may, he knows his priorities and he always makes sure to reserve days here and there for the two of you to spend time together. Since cooking can take up so much time, you both are more likely to go out to eat. Gaara doesn’t consider himself someone with high class tastes, but his title of kazekage has given him access to the most top tier restaurants. You love that this gives you the chance to dress up and feel your best, and he always goes out of the way to make it as romantic as possible. 

Kankuro - experimenting in the kitchen is a favorite past time with you for kankuro. You’ve come up with dozens of new recipes to enjoy together. Sometimes when there’s too many steps to do at once and not enough time or hands, you’ll suddenly find yourself cooking alongside one of Kankuro’s puppets like it’s a totally normal thing. Some of the experiments have ended so badly you wound up getting take out (and there was that one time that a puppet caught on fire), but usually it ends with a good new recipe. You both enjoy the quality time no matter how it turns out. 

Kiba - you love meal time at home with Kiba, and 9 times out of 10 they include Akamaru. Some recipes you both have gotten from your parents, but other times you tend to try and find something new. Casseroles are the go to for Kiba because they are so simple, but offer lots of variety - plus they’re a great comfort food! It doesn’t matter what dish you make, Akamaru will lay his head on your lap and give you the saddest eyes he can muster until you share your food. 

Neji - On the occasions that you get to cook at home together, he loves to go all out on fancy cooking. You hadn’t pegged him as someone who preferred gourmet foods (and you really should have), but you both have fun with it, and it typically turns into a bit of an art project. You’re both capable of whipping up a meal fit for a kage! The best part is that on your anniversaries, Neji always whips up something for you more amazing than the year before.

Rock Lee - cooking with him is a crazy time. Lee cooks with the power of youth! No matter what you’re making, he will give it 110%, and you will be covered in the ingredients. Kuroo + rivals to lovers in college

You wanted to be angry.

You wanted to be frustrated, annoyed, pissed off beyond words - but the slight tug on your heart betrayed you, and it showed within the corners of your mouth that twitched upward as you stared at the two monitors.

Two different scores, the right higher than the left by just half a point - and a smug, lazy grin belonging to a certain raven haired male hovering above the two screens.

"So," he says. Your eyes flicker to his and you pretend to sigh.

"So," you echo. You take a sip of your water, and from the way his grin grows, you know he can see you smiling against the rim. He points to the higher score.

"100.5. If I'm not mistaken, I think that means a victory for yours truly." You scoff as you put the bottle down.

"How the hell did you manage that anyway? We didn't say anything about extra credit."

"And because of that, I decided it wasn't off the table," he says, and you shrink back as he closes the laptops in front of you before leaning forward, towering over you with a satisfied glint in his eye. "All we said was if I win, I finally get to take you out." He grins as he inches closer, dark eyes boring into your own. "And I won, fair and square."

You feel the warmth creep up the back of your neck and stand up quick, making quick work of stuffing your laptop into your bag in an attempt to flee.

"Hey, hey, hey, hold the phone." Kuroo swings around in front of you in an attempt to stop you, but you step to the side with a little hop, making your way to the door.

"Onigiri Miya, this Friday, at 6pm. Don't be late." You turned around to make sure he heard you, and couldn't help the laugh that bubbled out of you at the clear spark of hope in his eyes.

"So that's a yes then?" You grin and begin to make your way toward the door.

"You did win, after all. The least I can do is uphold my end of the bargain." You laugh lightly at the small, yet triumphant cheer whispered from behind you (complete with a triumphant fist pump) and continued onward to your next class, your body buzzing with warmth.

Kuroo sighs, leaning back against your desk as the rest of the class makes their way out of the classroom. Once the last kid shuffles out, he heads over to the closet, retrieving the broom and dustpan before getting to work.

"Ah, you're still here. How did it go?" Kuroo's professor leans against the doorframe to the exceptionally large classroom, an impish grin stretched across his face as he eyes the meticulous way Kuroo was using the broom to get in between each seat.

"Friday at 6," was Kuroo's only reply, but it was enough for the professor to grin and give a celebratory clap on Kuroo's back.

"Glad I could be of help, Kuroo. Don't forget to wipe down the windows - oh, and if you need anything, well - don't need anything, ok?" Kuroo laughs.

"I won't need anything, don't worry. Thank you again, Professor."

"If it means I get a free maid, I'll help out anytime."

Kuroo might be stuck as the professor's lackey for the next month and a half, but, quite truthfully, he'd been vying for your attention for the better part of three years, and if he had to scrub every square inch of this university, he would do it without hesitation if it meant finally getting a chance to make you his.

it was no surprise that Oikawa was on the roster for the date auction, but when the setter glimpsed at the other names, he immediately made a mad dash to find his friends

fortunately it didn’t take long- Iwaizumi, Matsukawa, and Hanamaki were a few stalls down eating some food

“gUYS you’ll never believe who else is being auctioned for a date” Oikawa screeches

the three shrug, not knowing what the setter was getting at

“Y/N” and upon hearing your name, Iwaizumi nearly chokes on his food

Hanamaki and Matsukawa simultaneously pat the ace on the back

“AY, looks like you can finally get a date with them. since you know, you’ve been too shy to ask them out!” Matsukawa chuckles

“well, you know Y/n’s quite popular too. There’s already a little bid war going on for them. Not as much as me, but still quite a lot” Oikawa informs

the four walk back to the auction booth, and sure enough, there were a few underclassman clamoring about your bid sheet

“hey fellas, give it up. Iwaizumi here is gonna win that date with Y/n, alright?” Hanamaki says, and the underclassmen look in fear as their four seniors seemed to be looking down on them

Iwaizumi looks down at the sheet, and opens his wallet

“I have just enough to beat the former bid... but if someone outbids me then I’m screwed” he sighs, still writing down his name and bid on the paper

at this moment, you were walking past the auction booth. and upon seeing Iwaizumi, you tiptoed closer to see which student he was bidding on

and your heart almost stopped when you saw that he was bidding for you

suddenly, Iwaizumi turns around, and upon seeing you, he blushes profusely

“oh Y/n- uh I- hi I was just...” he stammers

“were you bidding for me?” you ask, hoping your eyes didn’t deceive you

Iwaizumi sheepishly nods, “uh yeah, but that’s as high as I can go..”

you walk closer to the booth and snatch the bidding paper up, and walk over to your friend, who fortunately was in charge of the auction booth

you hand her the paper, and she knowingly nods, putting the paper in a folder

turning back around to face Iwaizumi (and his friends), you give the cute ace two thumbs up

“well, now you have a guaranteed win Iwaizumi!! Now instead of worrying about the results, would you like to walk around the festival with me?” you ask, hoping that this sudden leap of faith worked in your favor

Iwaizumi is as shocked as his friends were by you, but he quickly nods

“yeah, of course! let’s go” he agrees, holding his hand out for you to hold

and with that, the two of you head out to enjoy the rest of the festival together

meanwhile Oikawa, Hanamaki, and Matsukawa stare in wonder at what just happened

“you know, considering that Y/n likes him back, I feel like Iwa-chan just wasted his money” Oikawa muses

which was true, but at the very least, he also prevented someone else from going on a date with you

SUNA

“hey you know who I heard’s gonna be in the date auctioned?” Atsumu asks, nudging Suna with a smug look on his face

“not you” Suna replies, and Osamu bursts out into laughter

“I- IT’S BECAUSE I DECLINED, NOT BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T WANT ME. TRUST ME THEY BEGGED ME TO BE AUCTIONED OFF FOR A DATE” Atsumu screeches

after the setter calms down, he shakes his head

“anyways, it’s Y/n” Atsumu says, noting the way Suna’s eyes slightly widen when he heard your name

“are they now? good for them” Suna replies, returning his attention to his phone

the three stop by a food booth that Osamu wanted to check out

“you know...” Atsumu ponders, “I was thinking of betting on Y/n myself”

although Suna remained indifferent, Atsumu knew that the middle blocker was clearly bothered

although Suna’s never officially spoken about his feelings towards you, his friends were able to tell how he was particularly fond of you

“really now? that’s surprising, given that you and Y/n rarely talk” Suna says, taking some of Osamu’s food

“yeah, which is why getting a date with them is the best way to get closer! c’mon Y/n’s really cute- who wouldn’t want to go on a date with them”

“whatever, do what you want Atsumu” Suna responds, and Atsumu smirks at his friend

“alright, I’ll be right back then!” and with that said, Atsumu takes off in the direction of the auction booth

when Atsumu returns, he grins at his friends

“looks like I’m gonna win a date with Y/n!” he announces, and the trio continue their trek throughout the school festival

at one point, the three walk past the auction booth, and Suna breaks away from the twins to head there

to his surprise, you were there, managing the booth

you greet Suna, who in turns gives you a silent nod, more focused on the bidding papers in front of him

he scans for your name, and when he sees the sheet, he scoffs

Atsumu did bid for you- but under Suna’s name

Suna sighs, and starts crossing off Atsumu’s bid

“something wrong Suna?” you ask, feeling a bit dejected that he was crossing off the bid. sure you saw Atsumu make that bid himself, but for Suna to retract that stung you just a bit

but what you didn’t expect was for Suna to write his name down again, instead writing down a larger bid for you

when Suna sees the flustered look on your face, he smiles

“text me if anyone else outbids me, alright?” he asks, and you excitedly nod

Suna takes his leave, and when he sees the twins, he ignores the hollers and teasing from them

all he was thinking about was the way your face lit up when you saw him bid for you

KUROO

Kuroo honestly didn’t know how he became one of the participants for the school date auction

until he learned that the entire volleyball team submitted a request that he be added as a prank

they didn’t think it would work, but they found the situation to be amusing none the less

Kuroo stood in front of his own bidding paper, absolutely stressed

“what if someone weird wins the auction??” he complains

“then.. you have to go on a date with them? that’s literally how it works you kn-” Yaku answers, and when Kuroo looks back with a glare, the first year stops talking

“who would even sign up to participate in this thing” Kuroo groans, not understanding why anyone would even want to put themselves up for a date with a possible stranger

“Y/n did” Kenma says, and Kuroo straightens up at once

“they what?” Kuroo looks over, and sure enough, the sheet next to his had your name written at the top

some of his teammates snickered at Kuroo’s reaction

the captain’s crush on you didn’t go unnoticed by them, and they loved to see their beloved captain turn into a flustered wreck whenever you stopped by their practice to chat

suddenly the paper was obscured and in front of Kuroo was your cute face

“I'll have you know, just like you, I was forced to participate in this too!!” you giggle

“oh? well what if some complete weirdo bids on you and wins?” Kuroo asks, leaning on the table, pretending to be suave and not come off as nervous

“he definitely looks really nervous” Kenma whispers to the team

you blink at Kuroo, “oh shoot I didn’t even consider that outcome..."

Kuroo, clears his throat, hoping that what he as about to say wouldn’t make you feel uncomfortable

“you know, I have the same fear too...so what if... we just bid on each other?” he suggests

your face brightens at the idea, and you quickly agree

“I get to avoid being with a potential stranger and go on two dates with you? I feel like this is possibly the best outcome that could have occurred!” you exclaim

Kuroo nearly loses his composure over seeing how excited you are over the whole plan

after bidding, and bribing the person running the auction stall to hide the bid papers, Kuroo takes his new found confidence to invite you to explore the rest of the festival with him

you agree, and the two of you head out to enjoy what some may consider your first date

although, the rest of the volleyball team are quite baffled that Kuroo just suddenly ditched them like that
