I’m just- [he narrows his eyes while he looks for the words, tail flicking, but every solution seems more embarrassing than the next. Eugh, why did he always end up dealing with the Feelings department when he was the least qualified, he should know by now to stick to his profession. Eventually he presses the back of his hand to his forehead to soothe the building ache before clicking his respirator in place. He stands up straight, and his visor materialises, covering his eyes.] Regardless! It’s not important. I need to get going, Nardo, but I am merely a message (and a significant distance) away. Shelldon will be here if you need anything else. Don’t touch anything. And there’s a bed with a TV in the corner if you ever need that as well.

…So, as far as apocalypses go, how would you rate your experience on a scale of 1-10 so far, 1 being absolutely awful and 10 being the best thing you’ve ever experienced. Totally not related to certain video footage I may or may not have reviewed.

[The radio cycles through channels. Finally, Don stops on one that catches his attention. It’s one of the yokai from the base in the mountains - the base that turned them away on the quest for Darner’s cure.]

…bunch of new tech out of nowhere. Resurfaced one second to see all our filters and engines had been replaced. Lifts, too. Crazy. Good-quality, even.

[Don’s sits straighter with pride, grinning to himself. Oh, he would never get tired of plans working out. He presses a hand to his goggles and speaks through the mic, his voice overconfident.] Yes! They are good-quality! The best, in fact. Genius Built™, obviously. And now that you see I, Donatello Hamato of the Resistance, as a mere mutant, have this kind of skill-

Kind of frustrating that we don’t know who did it though. Like who could’ve broken in and just did this with no one realising? I mean I’m not even mad, I just think if you’re gonna do it, at least make it useful. Now we’ve just got all this stuff and don’t even know what half of it’s for or who’s done it.

[Donnie blinks. Checks his mic on his visor screen, then tries again.] That would be me, Donatello Hamato- I improved your tech! You’re welcome. And I left a message- and the Genius Built™ logo on everything as usual- Can you hear me-?

Ugh, hello? Is anyone else online? Slow day today? Am I just going to talk to myself forever? Whatever. Maybe the tech’s not a big deal anyway, we’ll take what we can get. Guess it doesn’t really matter who gave it to us in the first place, it was probably a pity donation or something from the military.

[That was not right. Scoff! As if the military could make something half as impressive as Don’s everyday machines- The audacity of it all- Did they even see his note??? He stuck it on the water filter! Surely they would have come across it by now-

Then again, a note was not the most secure thing. And he was in a hurry to get in and out after installing all the tech.

And why are they not picking up his mic? Everything on his end says it’s working. Then again, maybe that’s a problem on their side. And maybe he could offer to fix it while he goes over there to tell them who’s actually responsible for their instantaneous upgrade…

Yes… Yes…! He’ll go over there and say that it was him and he showered in applause and business deals and then he’ll have even more influence.

Fantastic.
