absolutely despise how every single social media platform has intrusive annoying “performance” shit baked into it now. You can’t just be online to post for fun, talk to friends, share stuff to whoever happens upon it.
Everything has a score now. Notifications that say “your post reached 1000 accounts” on insta. View counts on every tweet, so you know exactly how relevant or irrelevant your every thought or drawing is. Every app asking you over and over to turn push notifications on. 1 to 10 self-ratings on YouTube. Get twitter blue for a performance boost. give tumblr your money for a Blaze. Get an Instagram business account. Buy views. Constant scoring. Constant reminders to monetize your every waking moment.

Still fucked up on that piece of TMA meta that finally made so many of use understand that Martin has trauma linked to alcohol.
Because like. Of course he understood that Jon could love both him and the thing that is withering away his humanity. Of course he could walk beside Jon as it was happening. Of course he would value Jon's promise to not doom the world as if it was a solemn vow to him, because he knows the powers that have Jon in its clutches are nothing in the face of a single person. In the face of love.
Hot take: Actual literary analysis requires at least as much skill as writing itself, with less obvious measures of whether or not you’re shit at it, and nobody is allowed to do any more god damn litcrit until they learn what the terms “show, don’t tell” and “pacing” mean.
