“Talia was real” “Noel was Talia” “Talia was just some fake catfish” IT’S NOT THAT IMPORTANT!! Though it would have been interesting to actually know if Talia was real it would in a way take away what Talia represents. Mischa tried his entire life to seem like an adult (This Song is Awesome very much showed that) but Talia truly showed how young Mischa still was. He blindly loved and dedicated himself to her without any confirmation that she was real (it was never clear if they actually zoomed or whatever) letting the viewer see how desperate Mischa was to have someone that would be there for him and love him. In Mischa’s “catchphrase” it also stated that. Luckyleftie on TikTok said “ Mischa’s life and death were both defined by powerlessness” and I think that truly summarizes him. No matter how hard he tried to hide it deep down he’s just a traumatized child that’ll cling to anything that shows him love and understanding, in this case Talia but also Noel. IN CONCLUSION the mystery of Talia was absolutely perfect for Mischa’s character and whatever the viewer chooses to believe can add to the story in their own personal way, the fact that we’ll never have confirmation makes it better because it’s like a choose your own adventure in my opinion:)

i am in constant awe of how much sheer emotion is put into "talia"

it's such a beautiful song full of love and longing and pure yearning but also such clear-cut grief and regret and just plain old sadness.

i've never experienced a piece of media that managed to communicate both a sense of hope and hopelessness simultaneously and so goddamn flawlessly. it genuinely built on mischa's characterization so well that i think it's because of how well "talia" communicates mischa's character that so many people love his character.

"talia" is literally the definition of bittersweet, connecting back to mischa's regrets in life, the disconnect between mischa and his home country (a grief that so many immigrants and also in part first-generation ppl can relate to), and the duality of mischa's personality

i love how the question of "is talia real?" is kept vague and unanswered because it just adds to how wonderfully bittersweet "talia" is. talia is real, talia is not real---it doesn't matter because the song isn't about talia. it's about the feeling of love and desire and grief; talia doesn't have to be real for those feelings to be real and valid.

mischa loves talia so much that he is able to ignore those doubts and cynicism, the song is solely about how much he loves her. they could have easily added in some lyric or reference to how talia might not real but didn't because that isn't important!

mischa loves talia and everything that she represents, and he loved her so much that he took that love to the grave.
