i love the little things tv shows do that defy the BYG Troupe like Nicole Haught in Wynonna Earp getting shot but turns out she's wearing a bullet proof vest (100 pts for you Emily) or the thing where they confess/celebrate there love for each other then one ends up dead (IM LOOKING AT YOU JASON ROTTENBURGER), but then Supergirl did it the other way. they have Alex Danvers in the brink of death just to saved by her sister and puppy girlfriend. then we see them confess their love for each other. and guess what, THEYRE BOTH HAPPY AND ALIVE AND WELL I LOVE HEALTHY LGBT REPRESENTATION

what do you think they did after the kiss? do you think that they just stood in the middle of the room, staring at each other, until one of them was like ‘the pizza’s getting cold’? did they sit on two stools next to each other and did maggie scoot hers closer to alex’s when she reached across alex’s torso to get a slice of pizza? did they ever stop grinning? did they move to the couch after a bit and did they start off kind of far apart because neither of them was really sure what happened next? did alex move closer and closer until their knees were touching and the backs of their pinkies were connected just so? did maggie just go for it and grab alex’s hand? did they both grin like fools at each other because holding hands has never felt this good, this right? did alex end up with her head against maggie’s shoulder while they talked about little things, nothing else too emotionally deep because tonight’s already been a lot, but things like maggie’s hometown or the time alex walked into the wrong lecture hall? did maggie say she had to leave but never got up because she didn’t want to lose this moment? did alex tell maggie, before she eventually did leave, that this is what she’s always imagined it would be like? did maggie grin because yeah, her too?

can you believe that alex talked about maggie to her mother so much that her mother realized she was gay?

Alex’s coming out speech was the realest, heart-felt thing i’ve ever seen on tv. it connects with so many people out there who are still trying to figure out their sexuality. and to those who kept saying that is was “forced”, it wasn’t. it wasn’t something done just to please a portion of their viewers. it’s something for people to see how some of us struggle to accept something about themselves that they’re only figuring out right now.
What makes Alex Danvers different is that she wasn’t colored/labeled as a lesbian/gay character when they introduced her. most writers just throws in a character, maybe give her one or two guy love interest for a season and the next minute she’s liplocking with her best friend since kindergarten or that they’re sudden going out on a date. which, for me, is like “oh she’s gay. good for her.” most shows writes their lgbt characters as someone who easily accepts their sexuality or who are already openly out, they show that being gay is normal and there is nothing wrong with being gay, WHICH IS TRUE. but then it lacks the connection. most of us who watches these shows, are still youth, teens, trying to come to terms with our own sexuality. some of us are out and proud, some are still in the closet.
But with Alex Danvers, and I think this applies to every gay person out there, whether you’re out or not or are still trying to figure it out like Alex, we know how it feels. We connected with her and with what she said when she came out to Maggie.
And the thing that makes this scene even more beautiful? It’s the way Maggie smiles at Alex, telling her “It’s okay. Take your time. I know it’s not easy.”
How many of us were so afraid to admit out loud and say “I’m gay”? How many of us wished that we had someone, anyone that we could related to and understand the struggle we’re facing?
THIS is the kind of representation we’re asking for. Real, heart-felt, connection

look at this fucking parallel. lexa used to be so guarded and doesn't allow her emotions to rise to the surface but clarke griffin slowly knocked down those walls and made her feel again. clarke didn't ask lexa to wait when she said "not yet" but lexa did it nonetheless, and then they got closer when clarke stayed in polis and for a moment there both women thought that maybe, they're both ready to explore their feelings for each other. and maybe they are. but the timing isn't right. and hence, why clarke said "maybe someday..." and lexa understands that. lexa is probably thinking that she already waited and gave clarke the time she needed, what would it matter if she does it again? lexa would probably wait until forever if that means she can freely love clarke withouth the duties of being the commander weighing down on her shoulders.
