why are all the star trek games based on war and ship command and galactic fighting and war. i want diplomat simulator. i want skyrim for star trek. i wanna talk to a bunch of aliens about their farming rivalry and then go to the planet where everyones an italian mobster. i dont give a shit about upgrading the torpedoes on my battle cruiser to level up and destroy other ships in the New Online MMORPG. i want my entire ship to malfunction because an alien laid an egg in the nacelles and then i want to fix it by raising the alien as my own and then tossing it into space. what’s so hard to understand.

you know, before i started watching star trek, i thought ppl were just saying it was gay bc they liked the idea of kirk and spock being a couple, but as i've been watching it, i have realized no, they really meant it. "why mr. spock... you almost make me believe in miracles." the city on the edge of tomorrow. "i know your affection for spock." spock being fucking ecstatic that jim is still alive in amok time and even smiling. kirk looking at spock like he holds the whole universe in his eyes when he's talking about the most boring shit. like it's not just kinda gay, it's like spock and kirk were written as an actual loving couple but, y'know, it was the 60s and they couldn't really do that on tv

I have tried making this into a big post a million times but. As an aromantic I relate a lot to ships from older pieces of literature or media like. spirk is the best example probably. those dudes clearly care about each other. It’s never explicitly defined, but subtext that makes it easy for the audience to read that they have feelings of love for each other. But that lack of it being explicit—that lack of defining what type of love that is—friendship? brotherhood? romance?—is what makes it so special to me. I can see my own desire for a connection within the two of them without applying romance to it. I want to be important to someone else, I want to be their companion. Without the stamp of an official romantic kiss, I can see myself in them. I have more to say but. Thoughts jumbled may make a reblog later
