I find it interesting that, in the two instances we see of Garak being self-destructive harmed, they don't call the Infirmary, they call Julian specifically.

In "The Wire," when Garak is getting drunk, Quark calls Julian.

In "Afterimage," when Garak is trying to throw himself out the airlock, the security person calls Julian.

Non-Garak related stuff usually goes to the general Infirmary. I guess its like "No point in calling anyone else, he'll only let Julian talk to and touch him."

Voyager B plot where Neelix hears two ensigns talking about making weed brownies and he assumes that marijuana is just another human herb like pepper or thyme and so he makes a whole meal that’s full of so much space weed and everyone gets way too high. And somehow that is 1000% important to the main plot.

#Trektober Day 9, "Dress Uniform". Julian's missing his dress uniform in 'Move Along Home', but since the one we eventually see him in is pretty unflattering I choose to believe that Garak did a night visit months before 'Cardassians' and got too distracted to actually wake him up.

I'm thinking about how Julian displays intelligence through discussion and knowledge about art and how he's unsuccessful using that as a bridge in relationships with anyone but Garak in the show and how that aided their attempts to alter Julian's character with the augment storyline

Like, it's obvious given that he frequently discusses Cardassian literature with Garak and how he tries to discuss Bajoran music with Kira that he uses understanding the art of a person's culture as a way of trying to understand and form connections with them- but seemingly it only works on Garak, because the show chooses to show him use it on basically three characters (Garak, Kira, kind of Miles) and two of those characters don't get much out of art.

But there are other characters that would be receptive to that discussion- the Siskos and Jadzia come to mind. But the show never bothers to establish that connection so when it takes away the one character with that connection, it effectively unmoors a part of Julian as a person. Which leads to "hey Julian do math in your brain since you're basically a computer now".

#ABSOLUTELY #also like. gotta say that i hate the 'what are are odds of survival' scene with bashir and garak for this reason #not the art thing but the last sentence of this post really hits on why that scene is :// for me #in a way that i couldn't phrase very well

i think it's so funny when garak fucking. hacks into a top secret computer database or brutally murders someone using a secret special obsidian order technique and when ppl react like "wow garak that was crazy" he's just like "oh teehee just a little something i learned to do while hemming some skirts" and nobody questions him further they're just like "oh garak you're such a rascal" and move on
