— "Mipha? In Rito Village? My, what an honor, your majesty. What have we done to be so humbled by your presence?”

— The Rito gave a mock bow and laughed to himself. The gesture was rude but in reality it was more of a joke than anything else even if it was hard to tell the difference with him. It was rare that Mipha visited him since she had more to do than just her Champion duties, which already kept her busy enough, but it must’ve been something important for her to make the journey and that thought was enough to make Revali be serious and straighten up.

— "But sincerely... Has something happened?”

— Despite the cold climate that Rito Village sat in, it didn’t snow as often as someone might expect it to with mountains constantly covered in snow right across the canyon from it. The Rito weren’t at all bothered by the snow when it did come though. The Goddess had granted them feathers anyway, unlike the other less fortunate races in Hyrule. The shop sold clothing made from some of their feathers of course but not many people even tended to visit the village because of how isolated it was.

— That didn’t mean their Champion welcomed the feeling of a snowball hitting him right in the back of the head though. With his feathers fluffing up Revali whirled around and narrowed his eyes at the Hylian Avyra.

— “Just what do you think you’re doing!?”

More ruins, more monsters. They kept running into this cycle, but with each discovery, there was a new piece to an ancient puzzle solved. At least that was what the princess insisted on. Link was inclined to believe her, even if he did not understand most of the science behind Zelda’s work.

Link had begun to slowly notice that Revali did understand him. Even when the Rito mocked him or condescended, at least he did not ignore Link’s communication needs. 

[Do we know how many monsters? Or shall we go in blind?]

— The Rito scoffed quietly, hefting the Great Eagle Bow onto his back. Even if he had learned the Hylian’s signs just from being around him, he still took a moment to wonder if Link had really asked him a question that to him at least had such an obvious answer.

— “If we knew how many monsters were there, we wouldn’t need to explore the ruins, would we? This would be an eradication mission, but I told you we were exploring. At least try to pay attention.”
