Kira’s bad luck is hardly a secret. Most of the time she’s fine no matter what she encounters - just some scrapes and bruises, the occasional cut that won’t even leave a scar. Bad luck coupled with good luck, perhaps? 

But eventually, even that smidge of good luck is bound to run out.

A pack of growlite excited by Zacian’s aura - the stinging sun shining far too bright, and a tumble down that just went wrong in all possible ways.

One day someone will find her. And on that day, Galar will mourn its Champion.

Being a trainer isn’t always fun and games - as Kira is made painfully aware of on multiple occasions.

Two weeks prior to Leon visiting with his ‘surprise presents’ that kicked off a journey none of them could’ve ever dreamed of, Kira and Hop had once again used Leon’s equipment and blanket to make themselves a little tent in the unoccupied room. Sometimes Wooloo joins them, but other times he remains with Heather, begging for extra snacks. Regardless, there’s never been a better place for Kira and Hop to read Leon’s many books on Pokémon, than right there in that little christmas lights lit tent. 

At least they always put everything back in order again after they’re done!

“I never knew there were so many ways to make Poffins! I’ll have to see which my ‘mon like and which they don’t!” her trip to Sinnoh was a success in multiple ways!

Kira - Two Weeks In Sinnoh

Kira spends her first few days in Floaroma town, mostly just relaxing and enjoying the scenery. The town DEFINITELY knows now where her mother's passion for plants and gardening comes from, and Kira was able to learn some new things herself as well. She also bought a few seeds of some flowers she liked, to plant in her own corner of the garden at home : it's been a while since she added anything new, and she really likes these cheery, yellow flowers.

Meanwhile, spending a day in Jubilive was an experience! She was able to see Pokétch Company, the company her mother used to work at, way back when it was still a lot smaller than it is now. The president still remembered her mother, his ever so capable previous secretary, who taught his wife all she needed to know when she left the company to pursue marriage. As a token, Kira was given a Pokétch. She's not sure what to do with it, but she still thinks it's a fun little thing to play with. Her Rotom doesn't seem too interested in it. Too small, it thinks. It's not moving smaller, it'll only move bigger!

Speaking of bigger, Hearthome City was HUGE! It reminds her of Goldenrod in Johto. She checks out the contest hall, watches coordinators perform various stunning dances and moves. It's when she goes to check out the posters of past winners in a side hall when she catches sight of a poster featuring what appears like a blonde version of her mother, minus the glasses and the mole, with a blue Sylveon and a pink Sylveon by her sides. Jasmine Gracidea, says the nametag beneath. When Kira asks about this person, the other person in the room, a lady named Keira, explains that the Gracidea family has been top runners in the contest business for multiple generations now. Keira points out Kira looks a bit like her and that she should give the contest a try to see if that'll bring her luck, but that either way it'll be a fun experience for her! Kira declines for now since there's still other places to check, but says she'll give it a try if she still has some time left at the end of her vacation.

On her way to Veilstone, Kira makes a little detour, checking out some nearby areas to search for Pokémon. It's in one of these areas that she meets Riley, who was just needing a partner to help with his and Lucario's special training. Lucario seems interested in Kira's aura ( something which just draws a sheepish, and kind of awkward laugh from Kira since she knows who is to blame ), and Riley thinks she might be a good match. If she has the time, he wonders if she could help him and Lucario out? It derails her shopping plans some more, but that's the last thing on Kira's mind right now. Training camp? Count her in! The two stay together for two days and a night, alternating between training, and chatting as they rest. Kira is especially interested in the displays she's seen of the aura. She thinks it makes Riley look a bit like he's a Pokémon, too! She jokingly wonders if she should try catching him in a ball as well. As they part at the end of the training camp, Riley thanks her for her help and suggests she checks out the three major lakes. If she's lucky, she might see something interesting. He also gives her an egg as a token of their friendship, and because he thinks the Pokémon inside will thrive by her side. She tries to reject the egg - for the egg's sake, but Riley says that he's certain it'll turn out fine. Kira carefully takes the egg, hoping that nothing will happen before the arrives home and can safely deliver it to her mother. She figures that it's probably best for the egg if she keeps it in a box until then. She tells Riley that if he's ever in Galar, he should come find her. She'll give him a grand tour! It's on that cheery note they part ways.

Next up? She FINALLY makes it to Veilstone city where she gets some serious shopping done! Though she planned to take it easy and rest up at the Hotel Grand Lake after those two days of training, Riley's words made her plenty curious, so she heads for the nearest of the three lakes, Lake Valor. She doesn't know what to expect, especially since Riley didn't tell her. The massive lake is rather foggy, and Kira can only imagine how amazing a place it'd be to visit during the summer. Still, she's not entirely certain what she's supposed to find here...? She walks around a while, but doesn't find anything out of the ordinary, even if she does find a few more new Pokémon. But a slifer of light breaks the fog and with a squint she can see something is in the middle of the lake. An island, of sorts...? A quick surf across the foggy waters ( thank you Glacier, for never letting her down when it counts! ) brings her to the small island, or rather - the cavern situated on it. Inside it she finds a Pokémon she's never seen before. Her upgraded dex identifies it as Azelf, the Willpower Pokémon. Kira spends a bit of time with it, feeding it some snacks she brought to eat later, and plays with it a while. In the end, she leaves Azelf uncaptured as she heads off again. She's not certain what'll happen to the area if she's to capture a lake guardian, and she doesn't intend to find out. But she's definitely planning to visit the other two lakes to at least dex them, if there are any more!

It's only after visiting the other two lakes and spending time with Uxie ( who took a little coaxing to show itself ) and Mesprit ( who was curious the moment she drew near the cave and greeted her at the opening ), that she returns to Hearthome City. There are only a few days left on her vacation, and she'd noticed various things she wanted to check out better when she'd visited that one day. She's glad she still has a little time to do so. The Poffin House teaches her several new poffin recipes that she writes down to make sure she won't forget them even when she's home again. Who knew there were SO many of them? She'd always only known the few! It's a little hard to leave the Pokémon Fan Club upon entering it. Shannan draws plenty of attention, and she's stuck a long while to show some of her other Galarian Pokémon as well ( and almost loses her Snom to the sobbing chairman, oops!! ). It's also too much fun to talk with others who are just as enthousiastic about Pokémon as she is! In the end she visits the contest hall again, watching a few more contests, before finally deciding to try to take part in one herself. Shannan is an absolute hit in the cool contest, and the fact that most have never seen a Cinderace before no doubt helps top the ratings. The way he kicks a flaming rock and performs tricks makes him a natural showman. His ribbon is well earned. Exiting the Contest Hall, she is held up at the exit by a lady she recognizes to be the Jasmine from the poster. Up close, Kira can't help but think the blonde lady resembles her mother even more. Even the caramel brown eyes, flecked with gold, are the same. As Jasmine congratulates her, Kira asks if maybe Jasmine knows her mother, Lillian? She lived in a place close by some years ago. Jasmine goes silent for a moment in response, then finally declares she knows no such person. Cutting her earlier congratulations short, she turns on her heel and marches further into the Contest Hall. Confused, Kira watches her go, but then she shrugs it off and leaves, completely unaware she just met her aunt.

After two full weeks, Kira leaves Sinnoh with a few contest ribbons, a good amount of new Pokémon for Sonia ( and Hop ) to study, some new additions to her battle and volunteer teams, and two bags filled with souvenirs. She had an amazing time, and she hopes she can go back some time in the future!

The professor has some that have baby Pokemon all over them.

Plenty of scrapes and bruises left that aren’t covered by wooloo, scorbunny or even pokemon egg band aids! Lesson learned for next time: no running into a dark cave to chase down a Pokémon without a light--

... But at least she got her Pokémon, so she’s fine.
