something so innately raw about falling in love during a war. like you’ve seen the worse in me yet you still want me. you’ve seen me cruel, cranky, outright mean but you’re still here. you’ve seen me breakdown and cry until i’m sobbing and heaving but you promise to never leave me. like you’ve seen the worse of me but still continue to love me and you will most likely never see the best of me ever again (that was left behind when i entered the war). you remind me that we’re in this together and that we can build another best of us together. and then i remember that you too are just as broken as me and that i still want you at your worse as well.

no piece of media has ever managed to make me feel like i was in a different time period quite as strongly as animorphs book 16, where they infiltrate aol and spend the entire time spouting computer lingo nobody has spoken aloud in the past decade and a half. the book opens with marco bragging about his top-of-the-line modem, with a whole 56,000 bits per second, and really that just sets the tone for the entire adventure.

one thing that i think really proves we only see eddie through buck's pov in this ep is that it's the first time basically ever???? we've seen eddie more or less ignore buck???? like, eddie. the same eddie who is so attentive and so attuned to buck's every goddamn micro expression that he knows what's wrong with buck even before buck does sometimes. the same eddie who has a laundry list of lines across multiple seasons that highlight the way he always know what buck is thinking and feeling. and tommy even confirms that at the end of the ep when buck asks if eddie's mad and instead he says that eddie feels bad bc he knows why buck is upset, bc he knows better than anyone about buck's abandonment issues and his possessiveness over his family. the reason it looks like eddie is ignoring buck is buck feels like eddie's ignoring him and honestly it is So Interesting to get that insight into buck's head

the best thing about buddie is that they don’t know. still. neither of them knows why they are the way they are. neither of them have ever really had strong male friendships before. certainly not in adulthood. so they don’t know that theirs isn’t quote unquote normal. eddie doesn’t know why “she sees me” felt like a punch or why “i kind of can’t stop thinking about him” felt like being dunked in cold water. buck doesn’t know that you can be jealous of two contradicting things at once or why “this doesn’t change a thing between us” didn’t offer as much relief as he’d been expecting it to. because of course he knew what eddie was going to say. he knows eddie. they’re both idiots. they’re both so blind to what they’ve been building. but they are so so close to figuring it out.

a little obsessed with the story of how giacomo casanova was sharing a gondola with this random guy who suddenly started having a seizure, and casanova had some medical training so he stabilized the guy until the guy’s physician could be called. and then the physician bled the guy and put mercury ointment on him, which caused everything to get worse to the point that a priest was called to administer the guy’s last rites, but then casanova stepped in and washed off the mercury ointment despite the doctor yelling at him not to. and the guy recovered and turned out to be super rich and powerful and in gratitude bankrolled casanova’s debauchery for years until casanova got himself sentenced to five years in jail for blasphemy. also at one point he got shot through the hand in a duel and doctors wanted to amputate it but he said no it’ll be fine and it Was
