while it’s been pretty obvious at this point, i figured i’d go ahead and make a formal announcement. this blog is on semi-hiatus, probably until the end of the year. i have a small handful of writing projects to tend to outside of tumblr (namely secret santa events), and beyond that, my physical and mental health right now is shot to hell, leaving me with little to no motivation or clarity for writing. when i do have it, i try to put it towards those other writing projects just to try and make the deadlines given to me, or for actually going to work. 

that said, i hope to occasionally pop in to work on some asks or such, hence just calling this a semi-hiatus or low activity, i guess. activity will resume normality once i get over this bump of work (as my job is requiring more hours of me for the next couple months anyway) and side projects. but if you want to reach me with ease, you can find me on discord as a cryptic flower!#3143. i try to pretty readily answer there just to keep in touch <3

it’s certainly an idea that has crossed his mind before. but even nikolai can tell when he’s being too impulsive ( sometimes, anyway ). bringing an outsider, even if it’s his most beloved, into the business of the decay of angels would only cause problems. and with doppio’s own loyalties to passione, it could cause conflict of interests, too. or maybe there’d be no conflict at all, but nikolai isn’t sure that there are any exceptions to fyodor’s plan to eradicate those wielding special abilities. he doubts, too, that kamui would take well to his involvement with someone in another organization, or at least not one that isn’t aligned and involved with the decay of angel’s overall plan. so, though it pains him ( and he’ll certainly be whining to anyone who will listen for the entire trip ), he resists the urge to say yes, please do. 

❝but then who would take care of things here, hm~?❞ he offers playfully instead, grin never once faltering. ❝as much as i can let myself put off my duties, i’d hate to take you away from your own~ i’ll only be gone for two weeks, anyway. i’ll be back before you know it!❞ which is going to be a long time in the jester’s eyes, because time always seems to lag when doppio isn’t around, but he hope that the other has people around him to pass the time in nikolai’s stead. and they’d better take care of him too, or there’d be hell to pay! 

brushing that thought aside for now, though, he wraps his arms back around the other, nuzzling affectionately against his shoulder. ❝besiiiiides~ that trip is still another week away. we still have time we can spend together, no? all that time to try and make up for what we’ll have to spend apart~ and there’s no sense in spending it dwelling on depressing things. especially since i’ll come running right back into your arms! perhaps even earlier than expected, if i get all my work done in a timely manner for once~❞ which he’ll definitely be shooting for, if it doesn’t mean rushing whatever plans are laid out for the organization.

though the hitmen of la squadra were the type to dispose of their targets & leave no witnesses,  (or no survivors,  more aptly,)  walking around in the clothes that he generally wore when acting as their capo felt a bit weird for something like a date …  as such,  with help from prosciutto,  (& some instant tips from melone,  that may or may not have been taken into consideration,)  risotto stands in front of the ability - user clad in a black pinstripe suit with a golden tie.

crimson gaze barely manages to make contact with dazai’s brown,  feeling rather flustered & awkward with how flabbergasted the other male seems about his appearance.  it was flattering,  yes,  but risotto hardly believed that he was that much more handsome in such a getup.

he clears his throat,  unable to hide the tint of rose on his cheeks  -  so he simply ignores it & pretends it not there.  

“  … thank you,  amore mio.  ”  ��he adjusts his tie,  before finally mustering up the willpower to look dazai in the eyes.  of course,  he could get lost in those eyes for days.  frankly,  he’d be fine if this date was just the two of them staring at each other for a little while,  but dazai deserved an actual proper date.  (he will admit,  such a feeling is another reason adding to why he got so dressed up.)

reaching out,  without breaking his gaze,  risotto grasps onto the brunette’s hand,  & takes a step closer,  before raising it to his lips & pressing a kiss to his boyfriend’s knuckle.   “  … now,  enough idle eyes,  we’ll miss our reservation if we don’t get a move on.  ”

though it’s more often for work rather than leisure, kanae can’t deny that she enjoys traveling. the sights she gets to see, the people she gets to meet― and hopefully, lives that she gets to save, if the job goes well― all make it well worth it. but she also can’t deny that she so often misses being at home. nothing is more comforting than the presence of her sisters and the other girls, even if the estate is also usually full of injured soldiers and kakushi doing their business throughout the butterfly estate. and, even more comforting ( though she debates ever saying it to him, wondering what his reaction would be if she did ) is the presence of diego, even if it’s not within her home. truthfully, she’s come to look forward to seeing him the most when she comes home. which is certainly something she’d never tell the likes of shinobu, or she’d never live it down.

but even now, as she heads down the road to the butterfly estate, she can’t help it! her heart soars at the prospect of seeing her beloved again, who suggested in the letter sent before her due return home that he’d be waiting for her somewhere along this road. meeting at the estate proper would have been too much commotion, mostly courtesy of what would likely be a bombardment of questions from shinobu and kiyo, naho, and sumi. and kanae is more than fine with that. subjecting him to that all at once would be a disaster― you’ll have to get kanao and aoi on your side to help tame the others, if you want to introduce him to the rest.

such plans are quickly forgotten, though, the moment that she catches a glimpse of the man himself for the first time in almost two months. a grin lights her features immediately as she breaks into a run, a hand over the hilt of her sword to ensure it stays in its sheath. she’s surprised, though, when he starts rushing over himself, but delightfully so! a laugh even escapes her as they finally meet, arms thrown tightly ‘round each other as her face finds a home in the crook of his neck.

❝you came!❞ she exclaims, relieved even as giggles continue to spill from her lips. of course, she didn’t expect him to not be there ( she trusts him to live up to his word just like she would anyone else ), but it’s still a welcome end to a long and painful journey. so when she does quiet down from her laughing fit, she settles into his embrace completely, soft sigh escaping as she snuggles in closer to him.

❝i’ve missed you so much... i’m sorry i was away for so long. it was only supposed to be a month or so, but i had to stop by the swordsmith’s village to have my blade repaired, and that took so long... but i’m glad to be back home now~❞ a smile again as she pulls back, hands rising to cup his cheeks with care.

cooking is one of those things you neither excel nor fail in― at least, not in your opinion, because for the past few hundred years, you have only had to cook for yourself. thus, you have only had to appeal to your own tastes, for the most part. the only real exceptions have been the few times you’ve helped in the kitchen in the wizard’s manor or when you’ve had to entertain guests in your own home― which is usually just your sister when she decides to visit from your childhood home in the west. but, when you stumble upon hakuno in the kitchen and are met with a request for help... well, who are you to say no?

❝does this always happen when nero isn’t here to do the cooking for everyone?❞ you ask with a soft laugh, approaching the counter with your awkward gait. there’s no cruelty behind your teasing, just some light-hearted fun. besides, you can’t quite help yourself when you’ve just watched her cut an avocado straight through the pit and then wonder what it even was. it’s endearing, really.

still, you graciously help by taking another knife and helping her remove the remains of the pit from the slice she’s made from the avocado. ❝in fact, you don’t keep that in there,❞ you explain as you work, then grab another fruit for yourself. ❝there’s a much easier way to remove the pit from the fruit as well, by simply cutting into it until the knife meets the seed, then cutting around it with the knife. then you can take it out with the knife, too.❞ a demonstration on your own avocado accompanies the explanation ( verbal instructions were never your forte anyway ), and then a smile is directed her way again.

it’s odd, hearing such sentiments stated out loud. you don’t come from the most affectionate ( physically or verbally ) family ever, and anyone who looks at you can tell you are a far cry from affectionate yourself. still, it’s the first time anyone has said something like this to you. and it isn’t coming from your parents, not your sister or your brother, not even from ieternally-attached-to-your-side-cousin komori ( though you don’t doubt that he’d have wanted to, knowing how sentimental he likes to be ). no, instead it’s from emu, who has become such a light in your life― even more than your boisterous and all-too-cheerful teammates, who apparently lament not being able to brighten your day in nearly the way that emu can, according to inunaki ( and you doubt that, instead betting those three fools are just playing up for dramatics ). 

but, for as odd as it is to hear, you don’t dislike it. even when that equally odd and persistent feeling of butterflies rises in your chest once more. and perhaps underneath that ever-present mask of yours, there is even a smile― full and genuine― playing at your lips.

❝even so, i’d hate for you to miss work, or any other plans you might have had,❞ you remark as your fingers intertwine with his, head coming to rest on his shoulder. and truly, you don’t mind if he isn’t able to make it to your practice game against the ejp raijins, where your cousin and old friends play. after all, there are plenty of real matches you’ll be able to play against not just them, but the adlers too, where your real competition plays in the form of ushijima. so you’re surprised that emu, once you told him about the scrimmage this weekend, expressed his desire to make it there.
