The graphic novel-style interludes in Max Payne are integral to establishing the film noir tone of the game. In addition to allowing highly stylized visuals and establishing still shots (stylized in such a way that was difficult to replicate on hardware at the time), these interludes also allowed Max’s inner monologues to take form in a way that was consistent with the story.

Max Payne 3 Coming March 2012
Rockstar Games confirmed this morning that Max Payne 3 is coming in March 2012 - so no official release date yet.
The developer also mentioned some multiplayer features. The game will have “traditional multiplayer modes” as well as “a deep reward and leveling system, persistent clans and multiple strategic load-out options.”

First Max Payne to be Ported to Mobile Devices in “Full HD”
It seems that the news of Max Payne 3 coming in March 2012 isn’t the only Max Payne news coming in today. Joystiq is now reporting that the first Max Payne game is coming to mobile devices, according to the press release Take Two released earlier today.
You will be able to take Max Payne wherever you go and enjoy seeing his face in “full HD”. The port will also have Rockstar Games Social Club features and, according to Take Two, wired controller support. The only thing Take Two didn’t specify was which mobile devices the port will be on.
